A word from Aperitivo Bistro
Piattini comes to downtown Schenectady. Italian for "small plates", Aperitivo Bistro serves the ultimate Piattini selections - from the traditional fried calamari to stuffed artichoke hearts and sushi. Other selections include specialty pizzas, fabulous pasta dishes and larger plate selections called “Piatti”. Piattini are meant to be shared along with a glass of wine or cup of espresso.   • "We had dinner at Aperitivo Bistro long time ago, once. Although we were not impressed at that time, we decided to give it another try this last Saturday, having tickets for a concert at 8:00 PM (Union College) and this restaurant at a short distance from the college. We have tickets for another concert t on April 19th and when I made the reservations for Aperitivo Bistro and made them for the 2 dinners on the 2 different dates. Yesterday I cancelled the one for the concert in April, because this restaurant has a very attractive name and looks OK but the food is horrible and the prices astronomical. We pay high prices gladly to have a well made dinner, but not to pay at the rate of upscale restaurants, not fast food heated in a microwave."

  • "My husband and I were attending a play Saturday evening and wanted to grab a bite to eat beforehand. I looked up restaurants online and found Aperetivo. I was able to make a reservation online. We arrived at 6:30 PM and were promptly shown to a lovely table for two. Our waiter, Tim, was very knowledgeable about both the food and wine selections. Tim was nice enough to ask if we were familiar with the menu, and when we said no, he kindly walked us through the appetizers and dinners, suggesting we try two appetizers, a salad and a specialty pizza. The combination was perfect! Each course was timed perfectly and our drinks were never empty, as our server was very in-tune without needs. . Thanks for a great night! We will be back!"

  • "Visited Apertivo prior to show at Proctor's. We were seated promptly and Tim our server came shortly after and took our order for cocktails. Time's service was the beat part of our visit. The food this time was good. It did not have the wow factor as in the three other occasions. My pizza (buffalo chix) was a tad dry, my sangria was alright."

  • "My husband and I went there for our weekly date night outing. Our server was amazing, very attentive and extremely friendly. We order two bottles of wine, in which our server was able to give us great insight on what to get. The food was also amazing. I had the linguini with brussel sprouts and butternit squash and I would strongly suggest it to anyone. The restaurant was not to loud and allowed for an intimate experience. We will definitely will be coming back again very soon."

  • "I went with a group of 4 (including myself). The food was great, the waiter was fantastic and the coconut pie...wow! The only thing I didn't like and I'm not sure what anyone could have done is, that I don't like the seating along the wall to the right when you walk in. It's just too close to strangers - especially when eating in a group. We were seated next to two ladies and one was sobbing the entire time about a break-up. My table could barely carry on a conversation because hers was so disturbing. Who can enjoy a meal with a stranger crying and speaking in a very emotional voice. We were taken to that table and I was going to say something but the hostess seemed rushed and not open to a request."

  • "I brought my girlfriend there for our anniversary. It costs like 7x more than chipotle but it was absolutely worth it. The food was amazing and crazy fancy. You needed a dictionary just to even figure out whats in the bread that they give you beforehand. The service was incredible, and the food came out at perfectly spaced integrals. My girlfriend is allergic to gluten, and not only did they have numerous gluten free options, but they have everything clearly marked out on the menu and the waiter was extremely accommodating to her needs. Overall amazing ambience and terrific food, an I would highly recommend this for special events and romantic dinners."

  • "I have been to Aperitivo many times, and this was by far the best experience I have had. The food was excellent, and our server was very attentive. I had the artichoke appetizer and the salmon entrée on the prix fix menu and I was very impressed. Also, the waiter had difficulty with our wine cork and said he thought it was too dry so he brought a new bottle. I liked that because it meant he wasn't going to serve us something he didn't think was worth drinking."

  • "Came before a show with a friend. Waiter was friendly, food was pretty tasty, live music was great. Unfortunately I found a piece of metal in my food. Almost swallowed it. Manager and waiter promised to comp offending dish and main dish, but didn't. Had to ask them to remove offending dish from my bill. Finding metal in your food is very serious and can cause significant damage. I was very dissapointed on how they followed through and would not eat there again as I feel the food prep was not up to standard and the management did not seem adequately concerned with the severity of the situation."

  • "The building is very attractive. Many nice decorative touches. It has a big city energy in a small one. There are always several selections that make it hard to decide what to have. My husband loves the chicken parm. It has a different twist with fresh tomatoes on it. Potions are good size. You can have small plates, and even pizza. A great location before a show at Proctors."

  • "Seemed to either be short staffed or maybe confusion. Slow to be initially greeted at the table, and slow for the sever to follow back up after the meal was served to see if we needed anything else. Also never asked about more drinks. A little disappointing for the money that was spent. I expect better service and have honestly had better service at a chain. Disappointing experience. Tuna Tartar was outstanding but that was the only 5-star I would give for that night."

  • "We were seated quickly in an area as described on my reservation. Our first server told us his name and brought us water. Then a different server came and said our waiter was done. Weird! She was nice and informative. We had the creamed spinach soup-delicious, a bit heavy on the garlic. My husband ordered the spinach goat cheese pizza. When it arrived he thought it was the wrong pizza since it had slivers of fresh spinach on it. He expected the spinach to be cooked. He said the crust was over cooked and the balsamic reduction sauce (I think) was too much. I had the scallops. I thought there were too many flavors in this dish. The scallops were delicious and cooked perfectly. The creamed corn tasted sweet but I didn't like the combination."

  • "My.Husband and I have been regulars for about 2 years. I've yet to try a lot of the menu. I have my favorites and I don't stray very often. Although, just the other night I tried a pasta dish and now that has become one of my favorites as well. So, I guess I'll have to start trying different dishes."

  • "I had a great food experience but my waitress seemed uninterested in our table. Her demeanor with the table of adults next to us was much different. She paid more attention to them while I had a table for 4 which 3 were children. ..my last experience with my waiter was much more comfortable. She seemed uninterested although I paid almost $300 for our meal. I still left her a 20% tip because it was the right thing to do but I wanted to leave her a penny with a cup of water over it."

  • "Went with my husband, son and his wife, as well as our three year old grandson. Very comfortable setting, wait staff attentive, yet not over bearing. Many of the menu options were unique and interesting and they also offered traditional choices for those less brave individuals. Food was of a higher quality, prepared and served in a delightful fashion. Would reccomend this restaurant based on quality of food, and service. It can abe a bit pricey, depending on what you order."

We were right by the front door which would be nice in the summer for drinks and an appetizer, but it is too small a table for two to comfortably share appetizers. It is also cold in the winter as there is a strong draft every time someone new enters."

  • "Great restaurant. Very accommodating. Make reservations on-line and realized before leaving that they were for the wrong day. Restaurant was able to accommodate quickly with no issues. Waiters were excellent, made wine and dinner suggestions. The waiters were very professional. When the food arrived it was outstanding. Service was quick and just the right amount of attention was given. Overall the experience was perfect and I can see our organization having functions there again."
