We all enjoyed our meals, especially the mac and cheese. A little loud but it was Saturday night and I'm sure we made our share of noise too.

Their menu has some really interesting (and delicious) items. The regular burger is amazing, and my friends loved their beet burgers. The bill was really reasonable for five people, plus wine and desserts. The frozen chocolate mousse and the carrot cake are both fantastic. The outdoor space in back is really cute, but it was a little too warm out so we sat inside. Wednesday nights they do a burger and beer for $10 which is an incredibly good deal!

  • We used to enjoy Apt. 138

We used to enjoy Apt. 138 as a casual neighborhood walk-in restaurant. About a year ago they got a new chef and upgraded the menu and we had two excellent meals despite the fact that you now need reservations. This week our meal was very disappointing. A ribs entree was really a pork chop smothered in onions and tomatoes and it is so dark you couldn't check the color of the pork. A burger was bland and a hake entree was good. With all the competition on Smith St., good is not enough, especially if you need reservations.

I go to Apt.138 quite often as I live in the hood. It is a good place for Brunch/lunch. Too dark at night...I could barely see to read menu!

Re-vamped menu is void of anything with flavor. All three of us who were dining were so sorely disappointed in not just our choices but the food we actually got. Service left much to be desired, with our entrees essentially slammed down on the table by disgruntled staff. Desserts were okay, the one saving grace.

  • Long wait for food.

As long as you don't mind the incredibly long wait for the food, you are good. The food was delicious, the waiter was very nice, but the food took about 45 minutes to reach us (and we only got caesar salads and soup). The desserts were great too, but also took longer than you would think to get to us. If the place was packed, I could understand, but it was maybe about 25% full. Overall, good, it would have been better if there wasn't such a long wait for food.

My girlfriends and I had a great time. We ate food we've never tried before and were so pleasantly surprised how delicious it all was. The deviled eggs were so good, they were the one thing we refused to share with each other so we all had to get our own order. The organic popcorn surprised us, it was so good. The mac & cheese was out of this world. I had the haddock for my main course with Swiss chard and I loved every bite. My friends enjoyed their entrees as well. The decor is perfect for dinner with friends or that special someone. I loved the many tea lights on the exposed brick wall and the candles in the fire place were absolutely perfect. The service was excellent. Can't wait to go back. I recommend to all.

Menu options may seem limited compared to other restaurants but everything we ordered (1 App, 1 Salad, 2 Entrees & 1 Dessert) we all very well done. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend to our friends.

A great neighborhood restaurant with some great renditions of American cuisine. We started with the truffle macaroni that was perfectly light yet rich with a nice crust of breadcrumbs. We wanted bread to soak up the rest of the yummy cheese. I had the hanger steak special with brussel sprouts and potatoes - absolutely delicious! My friend had the cheeseburger, which was gigantic and really great quality. The waiter was perfectly attentive and helpful.
