Diner Reviews
  • "The dining room noise level is so high that it spills out on to the patio, tables are too close together, feel like packed in sardines. Liked the old site of the restaurant far more. Food is still amazing! Service was excellent with plenty of help, and well staggered when they bring you items."

  • "From beginning to end we had a fun time. The service was great, the food very original and the ambiance young and vibrant."

  • "Service was flawless when we were there for brunch. The waiter and busboys were respectful, non-intrusive, and knowledgeable. Equally important, the food was delicious! Blueberry bread with the lemon butter is a must."

  • "We had such a lovely lunch in the outdoor courtyard. It was quite a romantic setting! The quinoa salad with root veggies was so delicious and the wild bass exquisite! I would eat here everyday if I could!"

  • "Food is amazing. Everything is cooked to perfection. Ambience is very romantic."

  • "The new location is lovely. Welcoming, elegant and the outdoor area is perfect for warmer evenings. Wine list was limited. Having one choice for sauvignon blanc or chardonnay by the glass seems thoughtless. The tapas portions were tasty and timed very well by the chef and the staff. Stand-outs were the asparagus and the broccolini. The busboys were very attentive. The waiter could have been much more so and turned our night into something more special."

  • "I have not been for dinner, but I imagine it would be just as good as the outstanding lunch! I can truly say it was one of the most enjoyable experiences!! What could be better than dining on the lovely patio in glorious L.A. weather?? The turkey and avocado sandwich on the incredible bread was so delicious! I highly recommend AOC!"

  • "not only was the food amazing, the service, menu variety, drinks and ambience followed suit. we could not have been happier with our date night experience, sitting outside under the heat lamps, sampling multiple small plates and a dessert that did not disappoint, and daydreaming about AOC being our house someday. we absolutely loved it and can't wait to come back!"

  • "I was looking forward to a meal at AOC last Saturday--I had never been. It was a disappointing experience. I think I expected something fresher--there was a vitality missing in the food compared with recent meals at other restaurants such as Mozza or Alma.... While well executed for the most part, the dinner at AOC was simply not as fresh as it could have been."

  • "We are frequent restaurant goers and this place definitely ranks up at the top of our list. The food is excellent and the ambience is really cute. We tend to try a lot of appetizers and split two dishes to get a feel for each place we go to. We did this here (probably 5 appetizers - which was a bit much in fact) and enjoyed every single appetizer and the dishes with every bite - all were done very well, the chef knows what he/she is doing here. It's a medium-sized place but feels much larger because of the layout and decorations, which were all very well done. The outside of the building is quite charming with a Spanish-style theme. Definitely recommend it if you are looking for something with both terrific food and a environment."

  • "Overall a positive experience. Decent food, good service, and great ambiance."

  • "It was great to dine outside on the patio, which may be in the middle of Los Angeles, but takes you mentally away to somewhere else. Food was good. Loved the selection of wines by the glass - btw - the sherries are hidden away on the dessert menu."

  • "Had an endive salad with dungeoness crab (not sure I agreed with all the different flavors in the profile), curried cauliflower, and a roast half chicken that was an "ode to Zuni." Also had a honey panna cotta for dessert; it came with a lemon sorbet and candied orange, didn't think the citrus paired with the panna cotta well. Would return to try more of their menu if in the area, but probably wouldn't make a special trip unless I needed a beautiful patio for some occasion. Overall good meal, very pretty venue, and can see why it's consistently on LA lists, would return but not rushing back."

  • "My daughter and I were looking for a nice place to have brunch with an outdoor environment. We found both of these at AOC. The service was impeccable, the food was high-quality and delicious!"

  • "Our party of 7 needed guidance on the wine choice. as the wine list was unfamiliar to us. The server seemed impatient and not too happy about our asking recommendations (we tasted his first recommendation and didn't like it, and so he was probably anxious about recommending). It is never a good feeling when you think your server doesn't like you. I think that AOC is a better choice for 4 or less diners than a bigger group, because of the small plate style of serving. We ordered two larger platters, but the smaller dishes didn't go around. I think a better server would have guided us more actively to assure that we had a seamless meal. The experience seemed hectic and gastronomically unorganized. But the food was very good, as always."

  • "This is my go-to restaurant for birthday lunches and dinners! The patio is beautiful, as well as the inside of the restaurant. Food is always delicious but the fried chicken is over the top-- best we've ever had!! The butterscotch dessert is fantastic. Service is impeccable. Overall an exceptional experience, every time!!"

  • "Hadn't been to AOC since the old favorite relocated in a larger space further West on 3rd Street... nothing was as special as I'd remembered -- even the (now tiny) bacon-wrapped dates."

  • "Went for brunch. The bar was a highlight, great cocktails. The outdoor dining area was beautiful, tables shaded by trees. Service was friendly but inefficient. A cheese appetizer plate at the same time as the main course, some of our food waited under a heatlamp too long. They need more staff or fewer tables to get more consistent service."

  • "This place and the menu used to be wayyy better. Can't say that I will come back."

  • "I took my sister here while she was visiting. The food was all very good, especially the appetizers. I had the albacore tune salad and my only complaint was that it little over-dressed and just a litte too much lemon juice for my taste but didn't stop me from eating almost the entire plate. The waitress made a very nice wine recommendation also. The food was surpisingly slow at coming out considering there were only a few tables seated. But we were not in a big rush so it was okay. I would definitely like to come back and try dinnter here."

  • "I've been wanting to try this restaurant for a long time and have seen it on every major list for where to go to dinner in LA. My husband and I decided to try it come out from Manhattan Beach, where we live, to see what the fuss is all about. It was absolutely delightful and the ambience was beautiful. It made for a great date night and the food and wine were delicious. The waiters were very thorough with the menu and came and checked on less frequently. It was a great evening, the food was outstanding, and the atmosphere was very charming! I would recommend this restaurant to anyone, and think I've found a new favorite!"

  • "This wine bar started out with a French flair, highlighting their expensive single-glass wine system. The tapas style dining and cheese selection are constantly high quality and changing seasonally. Now that they are in a new location, it seems that the food and service have floated to the top. The spectacular charcuterie is top notch. The flavorful and inventive items from the oven are a pleasure to share. Don't miss thr fried chicken and panna cotta if they are on the menu."

  • "We're still relatively new from NYC, and AOC reminded us of the best NYC has to offer while pretty much ensuring we'll never move back. AOC was the best meal we've had in Los Angeles and we will most definitely be making it a go-to for excellent everything."

  • "Just had another great meal with friends where we enjoyed delicious share plates, fresh cocktails, and the mellow ambience of the outdoor patio."

  • "Of the five dishes we ordered only the dessert was good. The focaccia was burnt. The hanger steak was tough. The duck confit was chewy and tasteless. Only the dessert was very good. And the service was mediocre. I object to having to pay for refills of Coca Cola, especially when the glass of Coke is 3/4 filled with ice and not Coke when it is placed on the table. A real turn-off. On the other hand, Julie Grimm, the General Manager, was both gracious and charming. Unfortunately, she went home early because, as a consequence, I was unable to tell her about my displeasure with AOC's "no free Coca Cola refills" policy."

  • "Beautiful ambiance! The cocktails were very creative. Food was delicious! We tried a couple of diff salads and the fish. Every bite was full of different flavors, tastefully combined to create a delicious concoction! The kumquat & blood orange ice cream is a must!"

  • "The food is terrific, the atmosphere is festive but not pretentious it's got great seating areas outdoors and it's fun to go there with a big group. It's become one of my favorite special occasion restaurants"

  • "This was my first time at the new location after having enjoyed A.O.C. at their previous locale. The outdoor patio is perfect for a leisure lunch. The service was spotty and I believe the restaurant was understaffed in regard to servers (I saw quite a few other staff members but they did not serve). Therefore the servers seemed flustered and rushed...and unable to check on us when we needed to place additional drink orders or ask for water. DO NOT order the Spanish Fried Chicken appetizer. It is pure grease with minimal little morsels chicken. However, the Little Gems salad with chicken was excellent. As was the Green Goddess cocktail. So essentially it was a mixed bag. Overall I was moderately disappointed."

  • "We came here to celebrate, with brunch, an elderly person's birthday. We were a mixed age group of twenty somethings, on up. We all were comfortable with the seating, ambiance, service and food. I needed to augment the number of people in our party at the last moment and was able to do that when Open Table contacted me the day before, to comfirm my reservation."

  • "This is the 2nd birthday dinner I've celebrated at AOC, and once again, it's a terrific place. Love the menu, different and unusual selections, and outstanding service, unobtrusive but always there. It is a charming setting, and the food is impeccably prepared and plated, I consider it a treasure and a pleasure!"

  • "We went to AOC to celebrate my husband's birthday and even though we had no room for dessert they brought him sorbet with a candle! So thoughtful! Great service and great food. The food was slightly salty and rich but not a deal breaker. An amazing experience. Will go back for sure."

  • "I loved the design of the restaurant, its very cute and romantic. The lighting was like mood likely. However the food did not live up to the standard. I wanted to love this restaurant but the food wasn't amazing."

  • "As always an excellent choice. I had not been there since they were in their new location. Service was excellent and the staff was very informed (including the bartenders ) with regards to the dishes. Wine list very interesting. The flavors and fresh ingredients always come through!"

  • "Went for Sunday brunch for 4. Menu sampled: excellent regular coffee, fruit sides of grapefruit slices and kumquats rather tart and sour, poached eggs overly firm with corned beef hash, fried chicken with waffles interesting but waffles could have used beaten egg whites to make fluffy. Wine and cocktail selections all rated highly. Group of 14 arrived near the end of our meal which painfully raised the noise level in the room."

  • "Great ambiance and great food! Bartenders are very attentive and really knowledgeable about what they're serving. Seating in the courtyard is really cool and you feel like you're removed from LA. Give it try and you'll become a fan!,"
