We've MOVED! Our new address is 8700 W. 3rd Street & George Burns Drive. A.O.C. is a small plates restaurant driven by seasonal ingredients, locally sourced. Our California French cuisine was developed by Chef Suzanne Goin, and has some Mediterranean influences as well. Diner Reviews
  • "Too many LA restaurants say their food is great, but few live up to that claim. AOC does, and then some. Sure, at peak hours it's "vibrant" and at times a bit loud, but the overall atmosphere, décor, ambience, and service are all near perfect. And whoever is quarterbacking the running of this terrific Tapas restaurant, and whoever the people are in the kitchen performing the magical cuisine, they should get lots of approval not to mention return business. This place is a winner. We've been there before, and we'll be back again....a lot."

  • "I am from San Francisco so pretty spoiled in terms of dining but there is nothing like AOC in the Bay Area. The food is fantastic and the service is outstanding. I've been fortunate enough to be seated in the outdoor patio both times I've dined in AOC and it is simply gorgeous. Their pork rillette is beyond good... the best rillette I've ever had. This is one of my favorite restaurants in the world!"

  • "The small plates were fantastic and no matter how good we THOUGHT they would be, each impressed just a little more than intended. The wine list was great and the staff helped us pick a perfect bottle that paired with our cheese plate and dinner selections. Really happy we got a chance to make it out here (we live in Manhattan Beach) but I'm sure we'll be making the trip regularly."

  • "A truly special dining experience. Varied small plates have something for everyone. Pork belly is outstanding. Great wines and great servers to help with pairings. Worth waiting for a table in the courtyard."

  • "The patio at AOC on Third is a lovely refuge from the frenetic pace of a work day. I've had outstanding lunches here before. This time, the flavors and textures of the chopped Indian salad just didn't come together. Bit I'll certainly be back."

  • "I'm addicted to the turkey focaccia sandwich and had the refreshing Goddess drink. The Butterscotch Pot Au Creme was amazing."

  • "I went with 2 other friends and we went at 9:30 on a Tuesday and it was packed. We had cocktails, a couple of bottles of white wine and sat outside. The wine list had a lot of selections for very rare places which was fun to see. We ordered a lot of food and most of it amazing. The arroz Nero was crazy good! The monk fish was kinda expensive for the quality and had far too many hard to eat vegetables. Overall great place and I will definitely reccommend this to others and go back occasionally."

  • "We so anticipated trying AOC. Took an out-of-town guest. We all were disappointed with the food. Except for the Farmer's Platter, every dish we tried (and we tried many) was over-salted. Very disappointed!"

  • "Everything about our dinner was terrific! A.O.C. is always our first choice for lunch or dinner when guests come in from out of town. Such a special place! We can't wait to go back!"

  • "I went around 2pm on a Sunday. Good cocktails and food. I enjoyed my brioche with egg. Overall a nice stop but not one of my Favorites. The fries my girlfriend had weren't every good."

  • "This restaurant continues to be a favorite -- and with good reason. A delicious menu, incredible wine list (including one of the more impressive selections by the glass), interesting cocktails and a setting that is hard to beat. If you have someone in from out of town, this is a must on the itinerary."

  • "My 3rd time @ AOC. As a NY-er, this is the quintessential SoCal place: beautiful indoor-outdoor ambiance; Mediterranean influenced, yet inventive food; fresh ingredients; great wines; casual elegance. I will be back again."

  • "I was a little disappointed as it was our wedding anniversary and were given a small table on the patio. My husband and I were dressed very nicely other diners were not very careful with their attire (sigh). The server was great but her blouse was dirty. The busboy was amazing. The food was eclectic and very tasty. I guess I would try again.....and wear a pair of jeans!"

  • "I'm quite the foodie. I love restaurants that have a specialty for Tapas/Small plates. I love to take my time ordering various things, relaxing with a drink or two. This place is, highly (extremely) overated. We ordered several small plates, one of which included a cheese plate. They're all described with fancy names and elegant descriptions. I was absolutely disappointed to say the least. The cheese plate, was at minimum to describe - Trader Joes quality cheapest of the cheap cheeses and nuts. The waitress described everything as "unique taste that you would never have experienced". I experienced all of those items at Trader Joes wrapped in cheap plastic. The bread was hard enough that I was concerned I would break a veneer."

  • "It's real simple, the food is outstanding, great wine list, great service and a wonderful patio. What else does one need? It's all just s00000000 good. Go and enjoy."

  • "I now can't believe I had never eaten at AOC until two days ago. Now ensconced in the former Orso space, the perfect food can be enjoyed in the perfect setting. Truly, we were blown away by everything - the little gems salad, the brioche and prosciutto (to die for), the hanger steak, the fried chicken, the roasted cauliflower, the farro, the bittersweet chocolate torta, the strawberry/rhubarb crisp. Most of the offerings are served on small plates. Perfect to share and ideal for sampling a wide variety. Our waiter was great and the white bull cocktails are dangerously addicting. The outdoor Mediterranean-styled patio is charming and romantic. One of the best dining experiences of my life (seriously). We can't wait to go back."

  • "Pretty place but the slow and uncoordinated service dampened the experience. We ordered drinks to accompany charcuterie but they arrived very slowly and not at the same time for the three of us, way after we finished eating it. The brunch food read well on the menu but it was less interesting when tasted."

  • "I've had many, many meals at both the former and current AOC locations, and it is always terrific. I cannot recall a single bite or sip that I did not enjoy fully. They were also highly accommodating to one of my guests who is vegan; she thought it was the best vegan meal in an entire week of meals in California. AOC is the absolute best."

  • "This was our first visit to "AOC"! From "Dominic" the manager to "Drew" our server the service was as good as the food, we had at least three bus persons assisting our server and we were extremely impressed with everything including the beautiful but quaint outdoor patio where we were seated. The appetizers, the Rack of Lamb the desserts and service made for an outstanding anniversary dinner. We will defiantly return. Thank you to Dominic & Staff, well done!"

  • "Great Food..., Service not that much..., first time at restaurant and waiter was not patient or cordial..., just desperate to get our order and get it over..., literally took us 20 min lunch..., for a tourist and first time visitor..., to fast don't you think?"
    Dined on 6/14/2014
  • "This is our second time at AOC and I cannot believe that we never went at it's old location. Wine selection was outstanding and the food...the farmers platter was fit for the most difficult vegan sans the burratta but if you wanted to cheat, this would be the place! The Romanesque Fried Chicken is a standard and the prawns cannot remember the name but ALL GOOD. Step out and try something that you thought you would never order and give yourself a treat. The space is happening and very lively crowd makes the meal more enjoyable. Not a place for quiet conversation unless it is lunch which is just as great."

  • "superb food accompanied by stellar service from a very nice waitress."

  • "A really grerat menu, interesting cocktails and a very good wine list. That is why we try always sit outside on the patio which is a charming oasis in the midst of the city. We celebrated Father's Day and made an appointment at 3PM in the afternoon. We had hoped the regular menu would be avilabile but it was not. There is a Brunch menu offered all day which presented a more formal meal rather than small plates which we prefer. We went along with it - sifted through 3 waiters as each shift ended (all of whom were nice). Here's important information: AOC, outside on the quieter patio is the only restaurant I know of serving small plates where you can enjoy superior food and actually have a conversation. That's very important to know"

  • "I had put together a special evening with my girlfriend and they went out of their way to secure my preferred seats. The staff was all very accommodating to my request and helped make the evening all the more special. And the food and wine are excellent."

  • "Had Sunday brunch at AOC and the food was not in line with Suzanne Goin's stature. The baked eggs were bland in flavor ,mushy in texture and over cooked . The egg yolks should be soft and runny and run all over the dish - these were dried out and solid. Charcuterie dish looked forlorn, just salami, no mustards, no cornishons, nothing to dress the meats - blah. Fried chicken and waffles another over cooked plate of chicken. Who is letting this food leave the kitchen!"

  • "AOC has a well deserved reputation as one of the top restaurants in LA. Three of us dined recently, spent about $100 on a total of 4 dishes and had leftovers. The portions for the price was incredible."

  • "Walking into A.O.C. is reminiscent of feeling as though you clicked Dorothy's red slippers together and have been transported to a beautiful location in the Mediterranean....Inside the ambience is exceptionally warm and welcoming, amidst a blazing fireplace. Outdoors, the beauty of its courtyard patio is enhanced by vibrantly colorful blooms, a trickling fountain, and another roaring fireplace. The cuisine, of fresh, high-quality ingredients, expertly prepared and bursting with wonderful flavors, completes the experience of vicariously being in Europe without ever having to board a plane. It was a most delightful dining experience--our first since A.O.C. relocated, and we both heartily agreed that we will most definitely be returning...."

  • "Just love A.O.C.! The outdoor patio is charming, comfortable. Fireplace and wall mounted heaters make it comfortable on cooler evenings. Service is attentive without being intrusive. Staples: stuffed dates, chicken liver crostini, jamon ham, fresh cheese plate. The spanish fried chicken, seasonal soft shell crab, duck confit all excellent. Duck is pricey though for a small bite. Every salad, wonderful. Nice variety of boutique wines by the glass, great selections and reasonably priced. The creme fraiche blueberry cake was light and delicious. A delightful evening always. LOVE A.O.C. and the incredible tapas menu that changes seasonally. At least four times a year, we make it a night to remember."

  • "I planned a special anniversary dinner for my friends. I made repeated call to confirm reservation and special request for courtyard seating, and also had specific instructions for the night of. AOC staff have been MORE than accommodating! They were so kind and patient and reassuring! Everything happened per my instruction at the right timing, and along with the yummy food, the night couldn't be more perfect! I truly appreciate everything especial the wonderful staff! Thanks, everyone!"

  • "When we went, there were notably very few people of color, to the point of being disconcerting. One of our party was a person of color and was only spoken to when they were alone. This seemed odd and it was noted that there was a strong difference between how they were treated versus the white solo person next to our table. The server was great, the food was great. Just sort of weirded out by the lack of color."

  • "Everything was beautifully presented and the food was amazing. The server was a little slow noticing we were ready to order and also neglected to come by for a desert order, but other staff noticed and took care of us. The courtyard is beautiful and less noisy than inside, overall the experience was outstanding. We will definitely be back."

  • "i came to AOC thinking it was going to be great, since i heard so many great things about it but it ended up being the worst experience ever. It took a long time for someone to come around and ask we needed anything to drink or even to ask if this was out first time there. we had no idea about the menu so we had to wait another 1o minutes to ask out waiter to explain the menu. i order bread for starters and we never got the bread but we got charge for it. then we get asked by the hostess to basically leave because he saw that we didnt order a lot of food or drinks and there was another reservation at 830. that part made this experience a nightmare."
