We had family in SF for the first time and this was the perfect place to bring them! The best part of dining with a group is that you can taste many different items, and each of the Rock, Heirloom Tomato Salad, Anzu Roll, Kampachi Carpaccio, Sonoma Duck Breast, Misoyaki Black Cod and the Shiso Crusted Filet Medallions were excellent. Then there was the dessert, equally delicious. The service was great and the courses were very well timed.

We were excited to try their Sunday Buffet. We had a 12:30 reservation, and were told the Buffet closed at 1 p.m. We were not impressed with the Japanese Buffet, no rolls, and nothing we recognized, but stayed with the traditional eggs/bacon/sausage buffet for $24. They came to us at 5 to 1 and announced we needed to get whatever food we wanted, when we had barely eaten anything and ended up with a second plate of mediocre and cold food to eat. Would not go back.

The atmosphere was very nice, not super quiet, not too loud. The food was delicious and beautiful. Our waitress was knowledgeable not only about the menu but also their wine list, and was helpful with making pairing selections. If in San Fran.. this is a must!

We went there with our family and were 6 people. The service to begin was extremely slow. The person serving us had his mind somewhere else. Also, noticed since we were 6 and gratuity was automatically included, the service got poorer as the night progressed. We witnessed other tables of smaller size getting much better service including our waiter who would skip our table even though we needed stuff. Food on the other hand was very good. The Salmon and Cod in the main course are delicious, so are the various sushi rolls. Finished with desert which was also very good. Recommend going in smaller groups to have a decent experience.

We reserved an early table at ANZU before attending a comedy show in the cabaret on the floor below. Parking was convenient across the street. The food was diverse. We started with appetizers of mussels and ngiri of hamachu (sp?--tuna). Exquisite. My husband had salmon and I had the black cod dish. They were both extraordinary and nicely sized. We came away comfortable, but not stuffed. The drinks were also both delicious. I would recommend ANZU anytime you are in the vicinity of the Nikko. Prices were on the high side for anywhere but San Francisco. Reasonable for the food in this city.

Wife wanted to have Brunch but since we were only available for a Saturday, it was Lunch. Service was excellent and they went out of their way to keep the kid happy. We had "Happy Birthday" on the menu which made my wife feel special, and we even got a "birthday" surprise which we enjoyed consuming. Fun had by all and a pleasant Birthday Lunch.

We were going to the show at 8, and informed our server, since we wanted to finish dinner by 7:30, which we did. The service was prompt, but not rushed. One of us had the 4 course menu with wine pairing, and it looked wonderful. Two of us had the chicken, which was not only delicious, but very filling. I look forward to trying other dishes on the menu.

We took advantage of checking in with the box office of Feinstein's to secure the best seats which is an added boon when dining at the upstairs restaurant, ANZU. Our service was prompt and attentive and I was relieved to see some non Asian selections. Our chicken and beef were superb. The topper was being presented with festively wrapped cupcakes to take down to the show. Also loved the validated parking. A very pleasant evening.

Nice and quiet and comfortable. Our service early on a Saturday before an 8 pm curtain was quite excellent. They take pride in their presentation. It is quite flavorful and interesting ( we had duck and chicken, sushi, salad soup) though in competitive SF few would call it innovative or transcendent. But union square is the land of the loud and the high priced. And this place is quiet, elegant enough, and quite fairly priced if you search the menu with an eye for price. Don't come to be wowed; do come for a lovely enough meal in a pleasant setting with caring service and a variety of menu options.

We found this restaurant only because it was on the restaurant.com list. We are so glad! The location was great - perfect place to go before a show because it's within walking distance of all the SHN theatres. The menu had a great variety, perfect for all in our small group. The full bar was super and the overall atmosphere was terrific. And, the food was not only delicious, but also beautifully presented! What a perfect evening out!

I'm so excited about my experience at Anzu. I had written some instructions on Open Table for the brunch. The staff read and follow-up on my instructions exactly. The greeting staff knew who I was as soon as I walked into the door. They seated us immediately at our beautifully prepared table. The servers were polite, accommodating. They even served a chocolate dessert surprise the my niece who turned 4 years old. I felt the pricing was very fair. The brunch food was good. Eggs can be made to order. Overall, I was very satisfied with the experience. I would consider coming back for brunch and/or any other meal based on the service alone. Thanks Anzu for a perfect brunch with my family!

A wonderful find inside the Nikko hotel. Great decor and not too noisy. We were seated promptly and waitstaff was on the ball. Started with sushi as appetizer and then we had the Misoyaki Black Cod, and Hamachi Duo (Grilled and poached hamachi) for the main course. Raspberry custard, and Bread pudding for dessert. Overall, an excellent meal of beautifully prepared and visually appealing dishes.

I took a work colleague to lunch to celebrate a promotion and we had an uneven experience. The setting is modern and inviting, but the food was average for a restaurant with the $$$ prices and adventuresome sounding preparations. We weren't told that the four part 'express' lunch would served Bento style and the long wait following my ala carte salad was disconcerting. Our young waiter was earnest and friendly, but not well trained. Heirloom tomato salad was more hot house and the 'fusion' chicken dish was a bit dry and the vegetables were lower grade and bland. On the positive side the dining room was nicely lit and allowed for comfortable conversation. All in, mostly show, no go.

We usually return to this wonderful Asian fusion restaurant whenever we get back to San Francisco. The food is very well prepared and interesting. The special sushi rolls are excellent as were the main courses. The restaurant decor is pleasant, but beware of the banquet seats if you have back pain. The seats are very long and provides little back support. Extra pillows would have been nice.

We arrive at Anzu at little early, but was seated right-away. We started out with a nice summer drink, a cucumber martini, and a glass of Hahn Pinot Noir wine. The Dragon Rolls were delicious and filling. The chilled tomato bisque was simply delicious. I had the New York Steak and my companion had the Shiso Tenderloin Fillet, cooked to perfection. The dessert we had "The Fog", which was on a plate sitting inside another bowl, in which the wait staff pour a liquid and you get the effect of fog coming over the Golden Gate Bridge. This was very intriguing. The mood was just right, not too dark that you could not see the menu or the check. The wait staff was very attentive and accommodating.

Pretty good food and decent service yet the glass of Cab Sav from Chile I had was the highlight. Kind of motivated me to stop trying to eat good Japanese food in the US, although I guess I knew what I was getting into as soon as I found out the chef was French. Traits on the menu (such as the truffle-ginger dashi broth that tasted like basic shoyu-dashi broth-on the Misoyaki Black Cod, which tastes as good as $7 mom and pop restaurants in Tokyo) sound better than they are.

This is a hidden lunch Gem that usually isn't too crowded but the food and service are really good. The only complaint was the salmon was somewhat fishy, more than it should have been denoting that it was not fresh that day. Otherwise, the food was really good and the service was top notch. We got an appetizer and the express lunch which came very fast and was tasty along with tea. The waiter was very informative and attentive. I also went here for Mother's day with a buffet and a bottomless Mimosas. The beef was so tasty, the choices were numerous. The crowd was well mannered and the food selections were numerous. The omlet was the composed of the ingredients that I choose, It was wonderful. Great food and the Mimosas kept coming. I have also been there for dinner, the Japanese chef is excellent. I found Anzu on Open Table and was excited for our special lunch in the city. (We had been in wine country for 4 days.). Anzu staff were lovely but the vibe was stuffy and formal, little atmosphere at all. My chicken sandwich was rubber chicken with a soft white kaiser bun! Anzu had a hotel restaurant feel; adequate in a pinch, before you find the cool places to go!

Our favorite places were full. Anzu was available. While the service was excellent, the food and the value were disappointing. We chose the 4 course meals. the crudo was minute; the French Onion soup was so salty that we had to add water, and thus cold; the duck was not completely cooked; and the desert was too sweet. If not for the service, we would have rated it one star.
