  • "This was our second visit to this wonderful long-established restaurant we discovered on our last visit to Carmel. We are happy to say it was just as great as on our first visit last year. Great, diverse menu, great selection of wines from rare hard to find wines to a broad reasonably priced selection, and flamed desserts. Service was prompt, friendly, and knowledgeable. It is now very high on our local favorites list. We will definitely return our next trip to Carmel."

  • "This is a classic restaurants which has been in Carmel for years. My elderly mother and I chose it for dinner, because she remembered from years ago. It is in a wonderful spot, overlooking a sweet little patio with a water fountain. Our waiter, who has worked at the restaurant for over 20 years, was the perfect balance of attentive without being intrusive. I am a vegetarian, but there are no vegetarian meals on the menu. So, the chef made a special plate for me which was delicious. This is a quiet place with outstanding food and service."

  • "We shared a wonderful dinner for four here The restaurant is beautiful and well appointed. The dining room looks out onto a gracious and well groomed garden courtyard that is lighted at night. The bar is very cozy with a great fireplace and couches to lounge in. We enjoyed a three course meal of cesear salad, rack of lamb and bananas foster all for $119 for two which we thought was a great bargain. Each of the courses were prepared at our table the old fashioned way. The salad was fantastic, the entree loaded with great lamb and also lots of veggies, the bananas foster has about four kinds of liqueur flamed and put over ice cream. It was the best we had all ever had. Our waiter was gracious, informative, engaging and just a delight."

  • "A and M almost always has service and food that guarantees a pleasant and delicious dining experience. We went for a family birthday dinner and it was quite special. The Kobe beef short ribs were amazing, as were the duck breast and filet mignon . the only thing that made it less than perfect was the drop off in service. As the restaurant got busier our waiter was more absent. They seem to only have a couple of main waiters and then the water/bus boy. They need assistants that are trained and speak English The decor was recently updated but the paintings lack life and color. The bathroom should be fancier. You can't beat this place for a pleasant and special night out. It remains in our top three of favorite restaurants in Carmel."

  • "I the heart of Carmel by the sea, A&M is low key, down to earth and relaxed despite the high end luxury offered. Fabulous food moderately to more than that price wise, worth every dollar.   • "Had a weekend away with my husband and booked this restaurant as a surprise. At least I got that right, it was a surprise. I have been in America for nine years now and can honestly say this is in my top three of worst meals I have ever eaten. Our starter, my husband had the bruschetta, I had duck pate, the bread on both was stale, we sent them back. My husband had a steak which he said was ok, I had pork, it was horrible, no taste at all. We couldn't face dessert so left. I find it difficult to believe that this restaurant could survive serving such poor quality food in Carmel."

  • "We recently dined at Anton & Michel for both lunch and dinner during a January visit to Carmel. Lunch outside near the fountain was wonderful, and dinner on our final night in Carmel was excellent. Carmel is loaded with a lot of great restaurants, and we feel this is the best of the best! Recently remodeled with a little more modern feel, the restaurant maintains a comfortable feeling of elegance that is rare now a days. The staff is very experienced, very professional, and very friendly. Hats off to everyone involved with Anton & Michel - we can't wait to return!"

  • "After 30 years of going to Anton and Michel, this will be the last time. Food still very good but service not what it used to be. VERY LOUD. Waiter served us with stains on his shirt and he was not "spiffy clean" looking. Extremely loud. Yes, they had three tables of six, spread out around the restaurant, but very loud. We used to go there for a nice, quiet evening. Not anymore."

Carmel has a lot of places to choose from and these guys know it. Their food, service and chef are top notch for that very reason! You won't be disappointed."

  • "Been there before. Specifically asked and confirmed table by window only to find it was pre-empted by couple (we were four). We were put next to a pillar and had to move the table to have elbow room. Mysterious rice/starch with wife's duck was cold. Her duck was medium rare, not medium as requested. My sole was tasty but too much oil. Our companions raved about their fish dishes (burundi?) Service by french waitress was great, we had requested her as server from prior experience. We'd go back again but not happy about not getting table location we requested, especially when we saw two people seated at table for four in location we asked for."

  • "We made a reservation here on a whim and couldn't be more pleased with the place. Two of us shared a total of 5 dishes (2 apps, 2 salads, 1 entree) plus a bottle of wine and had a fantastic meal. To start, the corn and tomato risotto really is the best risotto I think I've ever had; the flavor was fantastic and savory, cooked perfectly, and a good portion size. We also shared the grilled artichoke and the prawns and scallops entree (also cooked to perfection). Pricing on the wine list was reasonable, with a great selection of small(ish) production bottles (we had the Chemin de Fleurs). My only constructive feedback is that the tableside caesar had too much garlic. Overall a fantastic meal and highly recommended."

  • "The seafood chowder, the salads, and the club sandwich were all prepared very nicely. My salad Nicoise had three nice pieces of Ahi tuna that were seared on the outside and pink in the middle. The greens, fresh green beans, olives, fingerling potatoes, pickles and ginger really made the salad special. The service was very attentive. This is definitely a place to visit again."

  • "I took my very good friend who was just recently widowed to Anton & Michel on what would have been her anniversary. Although it was a party of two women and we ordered from the Sunset Special menu (3 courses at a fixed price of $28.50 each), we received outstanding service from the host to the bus boy. Our dinners were heavenly. We both chose the tenderloin of pork in fig sauce which was perfectly cooked. It was served with risotto and a medley of vegetables. As a northern Italian who makes her own risotto with homemade stock, I am generally disappointed with what restaurants pass off as risotto. However, I must say bravo to the chef as the risotto was delicious! I could easily have eaten an entire plate of it! We will be back again!"

  • "Attended a local winery event for Valentine's & it was horrific. Our daughter came here with her boyfriend for Valentines and raved about a great evening. We decided to give it a try the following week. We were not disappointed. The newer makeover is relaxed and elegant, food expertly cooked and the service was outstanding. Tiffany you were terrific. On a side note, we brought a bottle of wine and were told the corkage was $25. This is rather high. A fair, standard fee for opening and serving my wine is $15 max. However we were told that if we ordered anything off their house wine list the corkage is waived. We selected a half bottle of Rutherford Ranch cab for $26. So for a buck we enjoyed an appetizer sized bottle of fairly good wine."

  • "I had the pleasure of dining at Anton and Michel's on a Sunday afternoon. The hostess and waitstaff were very friendly and attentive to my party's needs. The flat iron steak was perfectly cooked and seasoned; my dining partner's crab ravioli was delicious. The portions were generous, so I was too full to eat dessert, but the other diners seemed to enjoy their desserts."

  • "Have been going there for years, service over the last couple of years has declined. The food is still high quality and I would recommend the place for a great meal. I know that everyone has bad days, yet to give you an idea, the menus were left at the table until the end of the meal right before he asked if we wanted dessert, at that time the water glasses were also finally refilled. If I had not removed the plates from in front of us for our first course the waiter would not have had any place to put our second course. Those plates were removed a few moments later. I know we all have bad days, but this did not make for an enjoyable lunch. There are many choices in Carmel, not sure when or if I will return again."

  • "We go to Anton & Michel every year during the AT&T golf tournament. We usually go on Sunday night after the tournament because it is generally quiet and we can enjoy our meal. This year is was crowded and there were some unusually loud people at one table. Even they couldn't ruin the overall experience since the service and food were great. My husband had rack of lamb which he loved and I had fish (can't remember name) but it was also excellent. The restaurant has been beautifully remodeled and the ambiance is so lovely. The service is always outstanding and we never miss an opportunity to to to Anton & MIchel when we are in Carmel."

  • "surprised to easily get a 7 pm saturday night reservation during ATT golf weekend a few days before..thanks OT. Came recommended at several different travel sites as not super expensive, yet fine dining. I would agree-entree with veggies $22-30. Waiter had many good recommendations, especially soup of the day was terrific-carrot, ginger, spice puree.The portions nicely sized, fresh veggies and food was very, very good-not over the top superb. Staff was very attentive and the owners were circulating. Nice setting next to large windows looking out into an inner courtyard fountain. enjoyable evening as the main room had filled by the time we left."

  • "I was disappointed by the seating for our reservation. I made this reservation in plenty of time to good table, but they put my date and I in the corner next to a cold window. And to make matters worse, the table next to us was quite literally sitting in our lap. I could have eaten the meal that was served at their table and they couldn't move without bumping our table. Not sure I would ever go back to this location unless I have 4 or more and they give us a nice table….."

  • "This is one of our local go-to places but it's great for visitors too. Lots of parking in the lot across the street and near good shopping as well. Service, food, ambiance always top notch. Nice quiet bar too. A bit pricey but worth every penny. Try the table side items....Caesar salad, rack of lamb, and three great flambé desserts."

  • "We dined in the evening, and our table had a beautiful, romantic view; it was at the window and looked out onto the illuminated pool and pretty glass & graceful metal-roofed structure. My favorite sauvignon blanc from New Zealand was not available by the glass or even the half-bottle, but the bread was excellent and my swordfish was tasty. The general consensus among the four of us was that the food was very good. However, my husband was brought a dessert that was different from the one he had ordered. I felt that the staff were hovering a bit and were eager to clear too early."

A little old school but that was the thing I enjoyed. For the dinners for two, they prepare at your table. Rack of lamb was the special of the house and was outstanding."
