  • "A very good local friend in New Orleans set us up with his waiter for an evening at Antoine's. It was our anniversary dinner celebration and everything was wonderful. They even wrote Happy Anniversary on the Baked Alaska... nice touch. If you go, order some of the Antoine's specialties, those are truly scrumptious and everyone/anyone will enjoy them. We will go back from time to time and we have a place in the Quarter from where we can venture out to eat throughout the area. Going back to a place for another meal means it's special."

  • "If you have time to only schedule one dinner in New Orleans make a reservation at Antoine's and ask for Vinnie. The history lesson, the view of the wine cellar and the guided tour of the restaurant made the evening one of our great dining experiences. The food and wine were as you expect - very good to excellent. The oysters were fantastic. Thanks Vinnie for making a great evening an event"

  • "Antoines is resting on its laurels. The entire experience was sub par. In particular, the wine service was horrible due to the complete lack of knowledge by the waiter. We were served a $100 dollar bottle of wine in glasses not fit for a cafeteria. The glasses were Libby $1.00 per stem wine glasses of inappropriate shapes. The food was served on small plates with no garnish nor attention to detail. Take Antoines off your must do list in New Orleans. It is sad but true that this historic restaurant has lost its' luster."

  • "The most unique thing about Antoine's was the interesting, not to be missed, labrynth of special rooms behind the main dining hall and Hermes Bar, which occupies the adjoining structure. Many of these unique rooms were well suited to host a special occasion. The food at the restaurant was a bit inconsistent, as was the service. I didn't care for the "original" Oysters Rockefeller, but will say that the Delmonico Centercut Ribeye with a Mushroom Demi-Bordelaise Sauce was outstandingly scrumptious, as were the Fried Soft Shell Crabs! The Escargot a la Bordelaise was delicious, but Antoine's famous fried puffed potatoes were nothing special. The Baked Alaska for two was beautiful and tasted good, but not worthy of repeating."

The noise was almost deafening in the dining room as more and more people were seated."

  • "Our waiter took quite a while to attend to our table. When he approached us he was friendly but sweating profusely and wiping his head with a napkin to dry his head. He then extended his hand in for a handshake which was clammy. The food was middle range for what we had experienced in New Orleans. Food took quite a while to arrive and the staff never came back to fill our water glasses. We had to call over from another table to get our water refilled. Our waiter did not return to our table to check on us , so we subsequently summoned over the Maître D to get our check. When the waiter came back with the check he told us he got in trouble instead of apologizing for the inattentive service. Would not recommend this restaurant.."

  • "You could have a meal of just appetizers: shrimp remoulade, oysters rockefeller, etc. Great wine list. Plentiful portions, perfectly cooked seafood w/delicious lemon-butter-almond sauce. Service was good, not great. It was a busy night, and server was a little stressed and slightly impatient. I've had outstanding service here in the past. Also, can't beat the ambiance: ask for a tour of the various historic dining rooms."

  • "We enjoyed a wonderful evening at Antoine's. Mike, our waiter, was attentive but not fussy, informed but not pushy, and genuinely enjoyed helping us have a great time. The food was excellent. The Oysters Bienville were outstanding as was the Baked Alaska. Mike finished off our meal with Cafe Diablo, a coffee concoction that was festive and entertaining. We were the last table in the restaurant so we were treated to a tour of the downstairs area by Mike. There are a lot of great restaurants in New Orleans, but Antoine's is a dining experience not to be missed."

  • "Food was ok. Not great nut not bad. Service was good. Waiter was very energetic and attentive. We ordered a very nice bottle of wine. ($150.00) When it came it tasted a bit off. We let it open up for a few minutes and it did not improve. The waiter brought the wine stewart over. He tasted and said it was ok. It only got worse to the point of leaving sentiment in every glass. It had spoiled. No action was taken by wine steward. Total lack of customer service. Our first and last time."

The place looks very tired. The food was just OK. The service was among the worse I've experienced anywhere in the world. I dine out over 200 times a year and know good and bad service. This place is at the top of the list for horrendous service."

  • "Visited on Ash Wed 2014 @ 7:30pm. Dined in rear room, fine period decoration with many pictures of heyday NO scenes and memorabilia. Table was cosy but sufficiently spaced from other diners. Pleasant ambience, diners mostly in smart casual or post-work business attire. Waiting staff were friendly and attentive without being intrusive, and offered sound recommendations of cooking style on request (the soft shelled crab was very good). Broad wine list, plenty of choice across all tastes and budgets. Recommend booking to avoid disappointment."

Fast Eddie was our waiter (been there since 1979) and he was both entertaining and highly efficient with excellent recommendations for what to order. Baked Alaska was amazing, Oysters Rockefeller are the original, invented at Antoine's and never disappoint. Wonderful service, and we got an informal tour after dinner. A great night!"

  • "Waiters great, ambience good, overpriced food.. Steak tasted like it was sitting in cooler for a year, salad was small and wilted, expected bright crisp salad, had crawfish bisque and it had the consistency of water that had a mild taste of crawfish. Place is overrated. Location and time it has been there is a good thing. Very old restaurant. I expected more. Chair I sat on was wobbly and cheap., but was replaced right away. Best thing about this place is waiters."

  • "Once we were seated, it took 15 minutes before we saw a waiter. When we did, he took out drink order, but then we did not see him for another 20 minutes. It took 45 minutes to get bread. I had the chicken and garlic special. The chicken was so overcooked (pre-cooked) that it was tough. The garlic sauce was unremarkable. I sent the meal back. My husband had the soft shell crab, which we both shared because my food was basically inedible. The fried crab was just okay. The waiter seemed preoccupied with a larger table. First time we ever gave a tip below 20 %. When we were ready to leave and our waiter finally came to give us our bill, he reeked of smoke. We were sorely disappointed and will not be returning or recommending this restaurant."

  • "The food was very good. However, the waiter was a little too pushy about what we should eat as appetizers. We got oysters Rockafeller, Bienville and the fried oyster one Hoch which I wanted to try. I also had the gumbo which was only lukewarm but good. By comparison, We ate at Bayona the next night the service there was outstanding as was the food. Susan's staff is exceptional. I did not particularly like being seated next to the entrance to the restaurant with all the people coming and going. We were on time for our reservation. The room was half full when we arrived. The maitre'd did not seem to care. We were told there are 17 dining rooms in this restaurant by our waiter and why we were seated by the door is beyond me."
