Unbelievably bad! Pinot by the glass came in small dime store glasses and had never seen the inside of any Pinot wine bottle (tasted like bad gallo), sauces were horrendous, had to send my steak back twice for proper cooking, cold bread sent out resembled hogie buns from the grocery store. I had the hearts of palm salad, which consisted of cheap canned hearts of palm chopped up on iceberg lettuce with a mediocre dressing. For my entree I ordered the filet cooked medium rare with wine sauce. The filet came out dripping red in the middle with a "wine" sauce dumped on top. The sauce tasted like a combination of Lipton's onion soup mixed with red wine remnants and too much garlic, slightly burned. Needless to say, we skipped dessert!

A New Orleans institution, Antoine's is essentially unchanged from the 19th century. Definitely worth a visit, but overpriced. Skip the Cherries Jubilee -- a few canned cherries doused in cognac over a scoop of vanilla ice cream, $18 for 2.

Antoine's was a disappointment. Despite high prices, the service was unimpressive - wine bottle placed on floor; glasses left empty; crumbs on table not removed before serving dessert; and unwelcoming greeting. The food however was excellent, so this made up for some of the service issues. The facility itself is looking tired and frankly, not clean. The women's bathroom floor in particularly was noticeable dirty.

Our family celebrated my husband's birthday here. The food and service were outstanding and better than anywhere I have been in the world. I have been all over the world and hold very high standards for restaurants. I would recommend Antoine's for lunch or dinner, family or romantic dates, special occasions, and group events. The eclectic ambiance literally transcends over a century with such a rich history. The staff are very friendly and comment about how they are treated like family. The waiters really enjoy telling the rich history of the restaurant and are very professional. I look forward to dining at Antoine's the next time I am in New Orleans.

    Dined on 9/12/2014
We come here out of tradition, but this was our last visit. Our waiter and his assistant were just fools. We waited twenty minutes for our wine, and they brought the wrong bottle that was twice the price of the wine we ordered. It appeared the tables around us were getting great service from other waiters, but we were the only couple being serviced by this B team of waiters. The food was just average, and there are so many other great restaurants in town. For what we paid I will say it was the worst value on our three day stay in New Orleans . Don't waste your time or money here unless you are on a company expense account.

Honestly I really was excited about dining in a place so integral to New Orleans' history. I went out of my way to make reservations after the restaurant had been closed for a private function 2 nights earlier. The menu looked exciting and the room appeared elegant. However, the service was so poor, I was left with no other option but to leave. From waiting to be seated to the only encounter with the waitress: Poor. I had to vigorously fan myself with the menu due to the lack of airco and instead of offering an extra napkin or to find a cooler table the waitress sarcastically asked if I wanted to sit in the icebox, when I commented it was warm! This was after she told me she bought tdress I was wearing off eBay!? RUDE & UNPROFESSIONAL!

Group of 11, service was outstanding, had a small private room that was spectacular and made group conversation great. Food, unfortunately, was hit and miss - some very good but some dishes were marginal - applies to both appetizers and entrees. Restaurant makes a big deal about their Oysters Rockefeller - don't bother - small oysters with a very dry puree of spinach and ? - no flavor. Beef dishes were great - seafood and chicken specialties...not so much. Ambiance and service lives up to expectations - food was a disappointment. I would try again but not with a large party where the kitchen is trying to get so many different entrees out at the same time. Is not a "must go back" for me.

We dined at both Commander's Palace and Antoine's for their Sept. lunch special. Unfortunately for Antoine's, there is no comparison in food or service. Antoine's lined walls of famous diners is impressive and worth a tour (though that's separate and the waiters vie for your dollars here) but it's nowhere near the hype or worth the price. Service was just ok.

Antoine's special $20.14 lunch menu for the year 2014 does not disappoint. The food is wonderful, just enough portion to be full without feeling overstuffed in the middle of the day. Sterling Amour the waiter gives a great tour of the restaurant's many historic dining rooms. Antoine's is a one in a kind dining experience that everyone should partake during their time in New Orleans!

The greeter acted as if his face would fall off if he had dared crack a smile or say something pleasant. And while waiting for our food to be delivered to the table there was an F-word filled argument taking place in the kitchen, loud enough for everyone in the adjoining dining room to hear clearly. And the food was below average at best. Completely disappointing for a so-called "world class" establishment. We'll neither go back again nor recommend it to anyone.

The ambiance is one of the old world. Not modern enough to rate highly. We felt like we were in mothballs. While some restaurants have a past that positively influences the experience, this does not. The food is OK, but nothing fancy by current standards. It was likely great 50 years ago, but really does not rate for the expense now. Our waiter was a little over the top, but did provide a tour (with gratuity) at the end which was very historic and interesting. This is more of a museum than a restaurant now. We will not return, having "been there, done that". I would not recommend going to anyone, since the food does not rate with other restaurants which are all around. Go for historical tour, and treat this place like the museum it is.

I had heard of Antoine's on Food Network and was very excited to try it. My husband and I and another couple were able to dine there for restaurant week. We took advantage of the prix-fixe lunch for 20.00. It was amazing. The alligator bisque was my favorite. The orange martinis really hit the spot on a hot summer day. I would definitely go again the next time I'm in New Orleans.

We had looked forward to this for a long time and the food and wine were as good as we had expected; however, our service was decidedly lacking. In fact, I was brought the wrong dessert but since the waiter just dumped it on the table and walked off, I didn't get an opportunity to say anything. We heard other waiters telling their customers the history of Antoines--ours said nothing. Other waiters actually took their customers on tours of the restaurant--ours said we could "look around if we wanted" and we could keep the menu! What should have been a memorable meal wasn't because of the indifference of one individual who acted as if we were an inconvenience. I hope our experience was not normal, just a waiter having a bad day.

With all the places to eat in NOLA, based on our experience I am convinced Antione's is still in business solely based on their reputation. My wife has dined there since being a child and was always impressed. So on the occasion of her 62nd birthday, there was no question that we'd go to Antione's. But on this occasion, food was only average (chateaubriand), service and ambiance were ABSOLUTELY dreadful. The accommodations were poor and uncomfortable and the room (had to dine upstairs because of a large gathering on floor 1) was noisy. Service was glacier-slow (twenty minutes (!!) to get a wine list that we had to ask for) and then we were asked to order the minute we got the wine list. Waiter was polite but completely unengaged.

What an evening. My wife and I were celebrating our 25th anniversary. The staff was prepared for our arrival, and they made the evening a spectacular event for my wife and I. This was our first visit to New Orleans and to Antoine's, and it could not have been better. The appetizer was great, the ribeye was beyond excellent, and the baked alaska for desert was delicious. The night was capped with a candle light moment for my wife and I on the balcany as I presented her with a 25th anniversary wedding band. I could not have pulled it off without the staff. They were wonderful and made it very special for us. I would recommend this restaurant for any special event or ocassion. Well done.

Antoine's is an old-school New Orleans favorite. Loved the char-grilled oysters prepared with garlic butter and it doesn't much better than 35-cent cocktails at lunch. Creole classics with a French flair in an understated dining room. If it's not too crowded, ask your waiter for a tour. There are multiple dining rooms on several floors including a secret hideout and a King and Queen room.

I had an amazing brunch at Antoine's 5 or 6 years ago and could not wait to go back, but this was the most disappointing meal of my trip. The food was okay, but not fantastic. The service was not as spot-on as it usually is, with our waiter screwing up our drink order, pushing us hard to add a lot of dishes to our order, and asking for his tip in cash. Also there was an in impressive jazz singer wailing away throughout the meal, repeating song choices and detracting from the experience. Maybe they just had an off day, but it was a far cry from my prior love for this place.

Historic, tried and true, ask for a tour of different rooms: esp. glance in on Rex Room, and peer into block long wine cellar; some notables: baked Alaska (order at beginning meal, Oysters Foch (dark almost chocolate like sauce); ant end cafe diablo or brulot: either flaming coffees. take a bit time and walk around to see historic photos; I prefer the grilled fish; might split an entree; and enjoy a sazerac.

My only real complaint about Antoine's is the food. For a restaurant with a good reputation and such a rich history, I was very disappointed by the food. I ordered the Huitres Thermidor, and while the oysters were decent and the bacon perched atop them was good bacon, the poor oysters were slathered in cheap cocktail sauce that completely took away from the positive points of the dish. All i could taste was cocktail sauce, instead of oysters or bacon, and that wasn't appetizing at all. The caramel flan I ordered for dessert was decent, but my companion's chocolate cake was dry and likewise tasted of poor quality. The Pimms Cup that the waiter recommended was essentially the only positive part of my Antoine's experience.

An amazing wine list with top bottles costing $2000+, unfortunately served in 50 cent terrible wine glasses. I am not sure who would order a great bottle of wine and drink it from these glasses. If you know wine you know what I'm talking about. If you don't just disregard this message everything else about the restaurant was great. A restaurant of this caliber should know better and they could dramatically increase their wine sales revenue with decent stemware.
