Diner Reviews
  • "We have dined at the Antlers Lodge before. Everytime we have, we have had nothing but a superb experience in every way and this was certainly no exception. One of the special treats we discovered on this evening was a particular dessert they have which is titled: Dark Chocolate Mousse. Oh...my....lord. Chocolate lovers, prepare your senses!! Incredible!! Absolutely...at least for these two diners!! The New York strip was one of the tastiest I have had in some time and my wife equally enjoyed her evening menu special of antelope. Thanks to the wonderful staff (Vincent and all) who made this a very special evening!"

  • "Bear in mind that there ARE good things about this restaurant. My steak was delicious and we were given a nice table next to the fireplace on our anniversary. Unfortunately, we were also right next to a large group with several young children that had no business in a restaurant that charges this much for dinner - especially when the parents thought that it was cute when their kids screamed. Our server was nice, but we sat for a while before he spoke to us the first time and it was on his way to take the order of a couple that was seated well after we were seated. Good food, but I probably won't be back."

  • "The food here was great.....portions were great.... ambiance great. Waite staff very attentive to our needs even though they were hosting a large wedding. Couldn't have asked for a better evening. After dinner we strolled around the golf course and hotel.... Very nice. Wish we would have gotten a room."

  • "This waas not our first time dining at Antler's, but it was our first with friends. We all had a great time, the food was wonderful and our waiter was extremely knowledgeable. We would for sure go again and bring friends. Thank you all for great time!"

  • "Antler's Lodge came up on Open Table and the menu looked inviting. It did not disappoint. The wine list is very good, and the selections were unique. I had the Antelope steak which was fantastic. It was the recommendation of our waiter and his recommendations were spot on. It was well prepared and tasted exactly as the waiter described. The wine paired well and the grits were a great side item. If you like unique dishes, prepared very well, then this is a great place to try. They seem to have several "game" offerings almost daily, as well as traditional items such as steak, chicken, etc. I think there is something for anyone, but especially for foodies like myself. I would go back should I find myself in that area of the country again."

  • "Did not meet expectations. Bone-in ribeye and Grouper were not up to standards of comparable restaurants. Steak had no taste but lots of gristle. It was barely warm and had to send back for reheating. The grouper had no seasoning either. So both entrees left us quite disappointed. Service was good but could reach the next level with the help of additional waiters. Had to ask different waiters passing through for items as our waiter was not checking on us regularly. Simple items like refilling our water and wine glasses."

  • "We went to the Antler's Lodge to celebrate my husband's birthday. I noted that on my reservations and also when we were seated we asked if we were celebrating anything special. They were told again - but nothing was done. I thought at the very least - they might bring a bowl of ice cream...nothing. My steak was done on the inside - but chard and tasted burned on the outside. My husband's steak however was good. Everything else was good...not exceptional that would want me to go back again."

  • "Food and service were excellent. I had catch of the day(Grouper) wife had wild game special(antelope). Both were excellent and well presented. Antelope was especially good. Very tender and flavorful. Wait staff was superb."

  • "We were very impressed with Antlers Lodge. I was looking for a nice restaurant for Valentine's Day dinner, but this restaurant, food and service exceeded our expectations by a long shot! The thought-out preset food and beverage menus were exquisite. The elk and steak were cooked perfectly and in good portion sizes. We did not leave hungry! While it was more than I expected to spend for Valentine's Day dinner, it was well worth every penny."

  • "We truly enjoyed our evening at Antler's Lodge. They went out of their way to make sure our eveing was great. They asked us when we ordered about food sensitivities or allergies. I was surprised that they went out of their to accommodate my husband's onion allergy. Usually he just pushes them to the side at restaurants. The chandelier was breathtaking. The room was set that even with the large party in the middle the sound did not travel to our area. It was a great find for a Valentine dinner. We plan on going again even for non special occassions."

  • "Visited on Valentine's Day... 5 course meal. The soup was amazing! Boar chop was my second favorite. The overall service was spectacular. Our server, Eli, was exceptional; kind, prompt, cleared the table well, and wasn't overbearing like some servers can be. Beautiful view...it was like a little oasis. Overall a great experience."

  • "Very nice, food was delicious! We had way too much food, we felt bad for not being able to take it with us because we were staying at a hotel. The atmosphere was great and everyone was very friendly and our waiter was very knowledgable when we asked for wine suggestions."

  • "This was probably the best restaurant meal that my wife and I have had in quite a while. The oysters were fabulous and the steaks were as tender as butter and full of flavor. Everything was served at the appropriate temperature which has become a great failing at many restaurants. Our server was attentive and efficient. Althoiugh pricey the experience was worth every penny."

  • "First off - Service was incredible! I tried the antelope, something I had never tasted before. My husband had the pork chop because he is less adventurous. Both were cooked to perfection! Sides are family style, definately plenty for a couple. Yes, I would recommend and yes, we will return."

  • "The menu is unique and the food was delicious. I recommend the pork belly with scallop for an appetizer. the elk filet was more flavorful than the bison, but both were good. The meat tends to be served on the rare side, so order medium well unless you like a purple center. Overall it was a wonderful dining experience."

  • "The food and service were outstanding, except our friend who ordered red snapper received half of a small fillet. Wild game portions were generous and very tasty. Ambience is down a notch because the room was dark. With the candle at the table we could all read our menu (cell phone "flashlite" apps also helped.) But we had to ask for a booklite to read the wine list, fine print on gray paper. My wife and I had a half-price voucher and we got more than our money's worth. I can't speak for our full-price-paying friends. Bill in UC"

  • "The quality and quantity of the food was excellent. It was like having a buffet but all the food was served directly to your table and not left out where everyone can hover over it. It was nice and quiet with plenty of space between the tables, not crowded in like some places. Certainly a great place for special occasions since you can easily converse with those at your table. The service was excellent. We will definitely go back."

  • "My biggest complaint is it was too dark. Everyone had to pull out their smartphones to use as a flashlight to read the menu. And I'm only 42. The noise level was fine. The food was just ok. Really nothing to write home about. My husband and I split the 16oz rib eye and also had asparagus and potatoes. It was pricey. And don't forget that they charge you a service charge at the end too. So consider that when tipping."

  • "We had a wonderful Christmas Ever dinner here. Our waiter was very friendly and was able to answer all of our questions. The restaurant is very romantic--as it is very softly lit which made our dinner feel very intimate. The food was wonderful. I highly recommend the tomatillo soup. This is also a very good recommendation if one is looking for a good steak for dinner!"

  • "What a beautiful way to spend an evening. The food was wonderful. The only negitive comment would be that the dessert offerings we not as exciting as we had hoped they would be for such a special dining experience. We will be back."

  • "My son and I enjoyed a wonderful family-style Thanksgiving dinner. The food, service, and ambiance all made for a memorable occasion, at a reasonable price for what we received."

  • "San Antonio is not noted for its food service. Food, yes. Service, no. Our waiter, Eli, was from the old school of service. Impeccable. He is the epitome of what service should be. The Thanksgiving dinner was very good. Quite a bit of a very good food selection, enough with a nice leftover to take home for some turkey sandwiches."

  • "This was our first time at the Antlers lodge. It was a very sophisticated atmosphere. Very simple decor. The lighting is so dim you can ask for a flash light to read the menu. Took us a little while to understand the menu. It is very simple and everything is a la cart. Our waiter spoke soft and fast so we had a hard time understanding what the special was. Also noticed this with other tables. The food was cooked to perfection. Would definitely come back. Recommend studying the menu before you arrive. Can't wait to try other items from the menu!"
