Antico FornoNice food - and Gluten Free Too!Found it in a gluten free restaurant write up. Wish I had the appetite to try the gluten free pizza and pasta -- chose the pasta -- think it was the far diavolo. Terrific! My table mate also liked their dish. Service was very attentive. Good selection of wines by the glass. Of course what more can I say about the North End ambiance. Nice neighborhood restaurant.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat value for the moneyGreat food, great service and reasonable prices. The validated parking is awesome too. It's close to lots of stuff as it is in the North End. We would definitely go there again. Restaurant is pretty loud, but it was lunchtime.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat pre-Garden event dinnerFantastic traditional Italian cuisine right in the heart of Boston's North End. Our family of 5 had Bruins tickets and the weather was beautiful. We were able to easily park our car, take a 5 minute walk to dinner, enjoy a great meal and walk to the Garden in under 10 minutes. The reservation was key as there were several fellow Bruins fans who didn't make a reservation who had to wait 10-15 minutes before being seated.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMNorth End Dining ExperienceOverall our experience was excellent, the food, service, price & energetic ambience is perfect for celebrating. The ambience is vibrant and fun. For starters we ordered.Caprese salad, presentation, taste excellent & a second salad Focaccina con Caprino a really nice flavor pairing of mixed greens, goat cheese, and balsamic vinegarette. Each of the four of us ordered a different entree, Vitello Al Funghi E Carciofi - excellent, our party also enjoyed the Fettuccini Panna E Prosciutto, the Linguine Puttanesca and the linguine frutti Di Mare & enjoyed the flavors of all entrees, rating the food as excellent.Ending w/Antico Forno's signature dessert of Pizza Dolce was a homerun with my two boys, who love nutello. Highly reccomend for families.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMwe always love it here andwe always love it here and go almost every time we attend a boston celtics basketball game. since we have season tickets, we go a LOT.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMexcellentThis restaurant is my favorite among the all North End restaurants. Food is always high quality, tasty and the prices are more that affordable. It is perfect for family lunch, dinner, or just a glass of wine with grate appetizer.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat north end italianthis place was voted best inexpensive italian in boston by boston magazine, so we thought we'd give it a try. it was fantastic! we were there for lunch, so our group all had pizzas, but they were fantastic. more italian style than american, hand made right in the dining area. would love to go back for dinner and try one of their pastas. definitely recommend if you're looking for a great italian meal in the sea of restaurants on the north end. a great experience in boston!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMBest food in the North End.Best food in the North End. Highly recommended.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMHard to find parking in Boston'sHard to find parking in Boston's North End, but always a pilgrimage when we visit our daughter at BU. Food is always excellent (we are vegetarians), as is the service, but the noise level can be a little intense.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMI am from Italy and the pizzaI am from Italy and the pizza is amazing! The only pizza to eat in Boston!4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Pasta - Gluten Free too!Fantastic food. For me being Celiac it was important to find a gluten free restaurant. This restaurant has the best gluten free pasta I have ever tasted. My wife ordered regular pasta (with seafood) & she said hers was the best she has had also. Would definitely go back on my next trip to Boston.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was very busy due to BostonIt was very busy due to Boston Marathon weekend but we were promptly seated at the time of our reservation. Our main entree and dessert were very good and we were also promptly served.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMMy family and another wereMy family and another were in town for the marathon this weekend and were able to get reservations here earlier in the week. We read mixed reviews of the restaurant that I feel were unfair. It's a GREAT place!! The food was fabulous. My husband got the osso bucco which he said was one of the best. I got the gnocchi and loved it. My daughter got the fettuccine with ham we all thought that was the complete winner. Our waitress was so nice and kind. Our food was received in a fair amount of time.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Food in the North EndMade a reservation for marathon weekend, which was needed as they were booked all night. We arrived a little early and were seated fairly quickly. Despite the busy night, we were taken care of very quickly and our food was well prepared. It was very refreshing to be served "normal" portions at an Italian restaurant rather than a super-sized meal. We did not linger after the meal, but this seems like it would be a very nice place to have a date night or go out with a group when the city isn't packed with runners.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMWe discovered Antico FornoWe discovered Antico Forno several years ago, just by accident. It has just gotten better over the years and is a "must" place for us to dine whenever we visit Boston.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a wonderful meal atWe had a wonderful meal at Antico Forno. The waitress was friendly and attentive and our meals were delicious.
I would have rated outstanding but we had a 6:30 reservation that was confirmed yet we were not seated until 7:00pm.
It was worth the wait.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent. Recommend makingExcellent. Recommend making reservation, as it is a popular spot. Pizza was excellent (sausage, mushroom, artichoke), and even the veal parmigiana was finished in the brick oven.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWe have been to Antico FornoWe have been to Antico Forno a number of times and they maintain a very consistent offering of their food, service and atmosphere. Traditional Italian dishes make up their menu and they always have interesting specials in addition. If you are looking for a restaurant to have a fabulous Italian meal in the midst of the North End of Boston (right on Salem Street!!), add Antico Forno to your list!4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMA Consistent Neighborhood GemWe dine at Antico Forno often. Our meals and the service were perfect as usual.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMEaster SundayAs always, the food was very good and the service was incomparable. Donna is simply the best waitress in the business. We travelled some 30 miles to enjoy Easter in Boston and we ALWAYS come to Antico Forno when in Boston. It is the ONLY restaurant we ever visit in the North End.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMBoth entrees (secondi)thatBoth entrees (secondi)that we ordered were delicious and the portions were large. While the menu didn't indicate which items were gluten free and English was not our server's native language, I didn't have any problems.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMA Hidden TreasureWent during restaurant week. The food, service, and atmosphere were all great. Have dined during non event weeks and it is always very good.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMAntico Forno is a fabulousAntico Forno is a fabulous find! Inviting, quaint and romantic atmosphere, with friendly service. The menu has many options and good description of the food. The eggplant appetizer was delicious! We will be back very soon!3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat dining experience!I headed over to the North End for dinner on a recent stay in Boston and dined at Antico Forno. It was a delightful evening...great atmosphere and great food. Antico Forno is a bit noisy, so I wouldn't necessarily recommend it for a romantic dinner, but if if you're looking for excellent food at a reasonable price, it's great. I had the spinach salad and veal scallopini. Both were excellent. If I were not eating low-carb, I would have used a piece of bread to soak up the last of the sauce. YUM! The servers who waited on me were both native Italian, so I'm fairly certain the experience was authentic!3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWe visited this RestaurantWe visited this Restaurant during our time in Boston and we were impressed with the experience. Recommend it to all ages.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMyummy but noisyThe food was fantastic. I ate every bite of my lasagna. It was the perfect portion. Not too much. My only complaints were that it was quite crowded and noisy. We were very close to the people at the next table and you had to speak loudly to talk to your date.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMMY DAUGHTERS SWEET 16, TOOKMY DAUGHTERS SWEET 16, TOOK HER AND 5 FRIENDS THEY LOVED IT. THE MEALS HAD GREAT PRESENTATION AND WERE DELICIOUS. SERVICE WAS FRIENDLY. WE MADE A RESERVATION, ARRIVED 20 MINUTES EARLY AND THEY SEATED US WITHIN 5 MINUTES!3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything was great. TheyEverything was great. They were incredibly busy though because of restaurant week. The food was fantastic. I would definitely go back. Only thing I didn't like was when I tried to order a martini they said they only serve beer wine and mixed drinks. How can you serve flavored vodka but not vodka straight up?3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMwe had a party of 5 and thoroughlywe had a party of 5 and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. the waitress recommended a bottle of wine, we loved it and had 3 bottles! The only negative was the surprise of a 20% gratuity added to our bill. Was not aware that this was included prior to booking reservation - I have never had this added to a party of less than 6!3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMAntico Forno is a great littleAntico Forno is a great little restaurant in the North End. As all restaurants in the North End, it's tiny and very crowded on weekend nights. My boyfriend and I went on Saturday night and without the reservation, it would've been a 30 minute wait. There's a small bar in the back where people could get a drink while waiting for a table to open up. There was a party going on at other tables and it was all very loud and the tables are small and smushed together. However, it was a good time because our waiter was fantastic, the food was great, and actually not that expensive for a bottle of wine, a large salad we split, and two meals.3/9/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious food. Noisy butDelicious food. Noisy but perfectly appropriate for this busy little restaurant. One of our favorite North End spots. Best to have a reservation. Easy walk from TD Banknorth Garden, Fanuel Hall areas.3/9/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good food- and not tooVery good food- and not too crowded. Best bread served before dinner I've ever had!
