Very nice little restaurant with very friendly service. We ordered truffled asparagus, broiled sardines and butternut squash soup for appetizer. They were very good. I had trout for main course. Veggies that came with the trout were delicious, the trout itself was completely unspiring. Hubby ordered osso bucco and loved it. Overall, very nice experience.

Had a lovely birthday celebration with my family. It's the kind of place that makes me happy I live in the lower east side. It's so charming, I find it very relaxing. I go there for special occasions, but I think I'm going to start going more often.

Great value for carnivores. The seared foie gras and steak were the most delicious. Tuna was too salty for my taste and the smoke fish appetizer was tasty, but was such a small portion. Also. The Portuguese red wine paired well with meal.

Walked in last night (Tuesday) not knowing what I was in for. After reading the reviews I figured I would give it a shot to take my girlfriend on a date. It turned out to be an amazing little Tuesday evening with live music, amazing food and a great atmosphere. The jazz band in the corner was perfect for the dining room. Service was excellent, not overbearing or invasive. We had the buffalo mozzarella appetizer special that was a perfect size and had a great balance between the red sauce and vinaigrette. My girlfriend had the spare rib which also came with a potato lasagna that was amazing.(I ate half of it... I am not ashamed haha) The ribs were great too maybe a little bland for her's and my taste. I had the steak- It was perfect.

Just last month, during my most recent trip to NYC, I first encountered ANTIBES. Now, on my very next trip to NYC, I found myself delighted to return. This time we sat on their sweet, enclosed, street-side courtyard, where we could enjoy a protected dinner on Suffolk Street -- and hear the live jazz combo inside. I especially enjoyed the smoked fish sampler plate, as a shared starter. I had a wonderful linguini; my guest, the NY strip steak. Everything was perfect. A special delight is the homemade halvah, which raises the humble treat to gourmet. I hope to be back at ANTIBES next time I'm in the City.

It's a good thing I didn't judge the restaurant by the bartender' slack of knowledge on how to make a kir! The truffled asparagus appetizer and the grilled trout entree were delicious. Just enough truffle to tease me!! A nice, but small, wine selection. Chose TGE French Sauvignon Blanc -- reasonably priced and good.

We really enjoyed the "down in the cellar" ambience but the noise level became painful midway through our meal. Location of the music speakers did not help. Not a restaurant for conversation...Also, the welcome was distracted. We walked down the few entrance steps and there was no one to greet us, two waiters started to take us to two different table locations, and then there was a considerable wait to order. We saw staff at the bar and we were there when most of the tables were still empty, so no apparent reason for this. Some of the food is really good and we love bistro settings, so we recommend working on sound level and your welcoming of guests to attract more return visitors.

Cozy ambience, brick walls, food was delish, live jazz was awesome on Wed night (7/30) - I went with my husband, my daughters age 10 and 16 yrs old and my father in law to celebrate a pre-bday dinner. The atmosphere, food, attention, location and the service was beautiful.

I was shocked when the waiter tried to suggest to me to order from the regular menu rather then from what was supposed to be the Bastille Day special offering. In effect they did not have exactly what they advertised and had another day special. I did add to my $17,89 the soup from the other menu, accepted the different appetizer, and insisted on the French cocktail based on Pernod rather then the other offerings in the regular menu - so I actually spent twice as much as their advertised fare - but this did not please the waiters anyway. I did in effect make my comments directly to one of them.

I took advantage of the French Week promotion and I'm glad I did. They were so nice about substituting items for me that I couldn't eat. The portions were perfect as not too much or little but as Goldilocks said It was just right. We splurged on the desert and got the Banana Bread Pudding and it was so flavorful. The pear salad was yummy and the sea bass was cooked to perfection. The best part is with Fringe coming up that there is a delicious restaurant right across from Clemente Soto Velez. Strongly recommend it!

I went to Antibes for my birthday with my mom, sister and boyfriend. We had 12:45 reservations and when we arrived the place was empty, which made my mom a bit nervous. Antibes has a very cozy atmosphere. When our food arrived, everything was absolutely delicious. It was hard to understand why more people weren't there! Two complaints: 1. The music was way way too loud for the size of the place 2. When the waitress returned with my mother's change at the end of the meal, we found that she had rounded the bill up and skimped my mom on some of her change. But overall, it's a very quaint and cute little place for brunch and I will likely return.

From the reviews, I was anticipating a special evening. The food took excessively long to come out of the kitchen. Portions were moderate to small. Surprisingly, the restaurant was very crowded and it was even hard to talk, which we had plenty of time to do since the kitchen was extremely slow.

The portions were very small and overall the food was not very good. Examples, the octopus had a funny taste and the portion was tiny, the cheese plate did not come with bread or crackers, so that was strange. As for my entree, the pasta was very soggy and didn't have much flavor. Our server was kind/friendly, however he was busy with pretty much every table in the restaurant, so he wasn't very attentive. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone, there are better places in LES

We made a reservation and were sat at the bar until a few minutes later when we were sat at our cosy intimate table. We both ordered Aperol's which our French host(? He seemed more well-esteemed than a mere host) recommended. The bartender mistakenly recommended digestifs instead of aperitifs? The foie gras was possibly the best foie gras I've ever eaten and then chicken under brick was pretty good (a little dry) and the salmon was good (the coriander a little too overpowering for the delicate fishy taste of salmon). The truffle potatoes were obviously delicious and the Grenache Blanc from Ventoux (Le Petite Maison) was perfectly crisp and medium. Above all, service and ambience were the best. Foie gras was to die for!

A pleasant surprise! Looking for a neighborhood restaurant in an unfamiliar neighborhood may be a challenge but Antibes Bistro was exactly what we were looking for. The food was excellent and the service friendly but not intrusive. The setting is charming in its way although in the small space it was not easy to navigate around the tables. We picked this lower East Side shot off Open Table because it looked like an interesting menu with some vegetarian choices. It had even more going for it than we expected. An unassuming location on Suffolk Street, you go in and find an inviting and intimate dining room, a friendly bar with some local regulars, and . . . A jazz trio! Service was perfect, there when we wanted it, attentive but informal. Duck pate appetizer and butternut squash soups were excellent appetizers. The dinners of octopus. Lamb and cavetelli, of these the octopus was most spectacular. Would go again in a heartbeat, and would be Regular if I lived closer.

  • Worst Table in the House
    Elite404
    Dined on 2/8/2014
You'd think that with a reservation you wouldn't be seated at the worst table in the house, which should probably be used only for desperate walk-ins. This was a table immediately next to the door, so close that the cold weather curtain literally touched one of the chairs, so close that someone coming through the curtain could easily walk right into the chair. I asked if they had any other tables, and was told simply no. Another table opened up a few minutes later, so they could simply have suggested that we wait a few minutes. We opted to sit at the bar rather than said table. So glad I made a reservation. The food wasn't bad but was unremarkable for the price. You can do better.

I've lived in New York for more than 30 years and I've never been to a place as loud as Antibes. It was literally painful. Between the hard brick surfaces, the amped up music, and the full house where everyone was screaming to be heard, it was crazy. Even the waitress couldn't hear what we were trying to order. It's a shame, because the food was excellent and it seemed like a nice spot. All of this was on a Friday night at 8:00. I'll probably return when it's less crowded to see if it's any more comfortable. My tip? Go early on a slow night!

I was excited to dine here when I read about how the ambience was really nice and the food was great and there was jazz playing. Personally, I felt like the jazz was a little too loud for eating comfortably. Our waitress was very polite but our bus boy never said a word to us and he wasn't smiling at all. I felt a little discouraged by his sad face the whole time. I honestly think its a cute place, but I don't see myself going here again. Other people love this place and I can see why, but maybe it was just that day that was bad.

The food was really outstanding! I had read in some reviews that the portions were small, but I did not find that to be true at all. The portions are perfectly sized. The restaurant is very reasonably priced with main dishes between $16-$22. I've spent twice as much in restaurants in NYC which don't even compete in the same league in terms of quality of food. The ambiance is both romantic if you're a couple and also warm and friendly if you are with a group of friends. I was there in a group of 6. I only regret I don't live around the corner so it could become a regular spot. The service is great. The waitress was attentive, but did not hover over our table as you experience in many other places. This is a NOT MISS in NYC!
