Diner Reviews
  • "We went on an early Sunday evening looking for a peaceful spot to have dinner. The waitstaff were very attentive and the food excellent. Many fish dishes to choose from and all were excellently prepared and flavorful. The halvah kaitafi dessert is extraordinary. Antibes is highly recommended."

  • "Delicious fish. Low key wait service. Terrific jazz ensemble. Love this place."

  • "Very enjoyable dining experience. Service was very good, menu selection somewhat limited, but all dishes very flavorful! We were entertained by a trio of musicians who were very good. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone traveling to the Lower Eastside!"

  • "The portions were very small and overall the food was not very good. Examples, the octopus had a funny taste and the portion was tiny, the cheese plate did not come with bread or crackers, so that was strange. As for my entree, the pasta was very soggy and didn't have much flavor. Our server was kind/friendly, however he was busy with pretty much every table in the restaurant, so he wasn't very attentive. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone, there are better places in LES"

  • "I took my Valentine's Day date (okay, okay, my wife) to Antibes Bistro, and we absolutely fell in love with this restaurant. Not only was the food superb, the wait staff extremely friendly (and knowledgeable) & the location beautiful ...the live jazz music mixed together with a vibrant bar patrons made for an enjoyable evening - we will definitely be back!"

  • "A pleasant surprise! Looking for a neighborhood restaurant in an unfamiliar neighborhood may be a challenge but Antibes Bistro was exactly what we were looking for. The food was excellent and the service friendly but not intrusive. The setting is charming in its way although in the small space it was not easy to navigate around the tables. Would certainly recommend it to those looking to dine in the area. They were able to cope with special needs for ne guest which had been mentioned in the booking nice AND they remembered it!"

  • "Loved this place. Came for vday and had a wonderful experience. Service was wonderful and food was also very good. The only criticism is the music was extremely loud. We asked to turn it down and it went from about a 10 to a 9.5. Tables were close so it made sense to not hear other tables but my boyfriend and I couldn't hear each other half the time."

  • "We made a reservation and were sat at the bar until a few minutes later when we were sat at our cosy intimate table. We both ordered Aperol's which our French host(? He seemed more well-esteemed than a mere host) recommended. The bartender mistakenly recommended digestifs instead of aperitifs? The foie gras was possibly the best foie gras I've ever eaten and then chicken under brick was pretty good (a little dry) and the salmon was good (the coriander a little too overpowering for the delicate fishy taste of salmon). The truffle potatoes were obviously delicious and the Grenache Blanc from Ventoux (Le Petite Maison) was perfectly crisp and medium. Above all, service and ambience were the best. Foie gras was to die for!"

  • "The menu was a prefixed one. We were told it was because it was Valentine's Day but I was hoping that we could have tried something from their regular menu being that this was the first time that my husband and I came here. Despite this the food was descent but very small portions."

  • "We picked this lower East Side shot off Open Table because it looked like an interesting menu with some vegetarian choices. It had even more going for it than we expected. An unassuming location on Suffolk Street, you go in and find an inviting and intimate dining room, a friendly bar with some local regulars, and . . . A jazz trio! Service was perfect, there when we wanted it, attentive but informal. Duck pate appetizer and butternut squash soups were excellent appetizers. The dinners of octopus. Lamb and cavetelli, of these the octopus was most spectacular. Would go again in a heartbeat, and would be Regular if I lived closer."

  • "You'd think that with a reservation you wouldn't be seated at the worst table in the house, which should probably be used only for desperate walk-ins. This was a table immediately next to the door, so close that the cold weather curtain literally touched one of the chairs, so close that someone coming through the curtain could easily walk right into the chair. I asked if they had any other tables, and was told simply no. Another table opened up a few minutes later, so they could simply have suggested that we wait a few minutes. We opted to sit at the bar rather than said table. So glad I made a reservation. The food wasn't bad but was unremarkable for the price. You can do better."

  • "Good food, attentive service, romantic vibe, and good music made for a great night out. Portions were smallish but overall the meal was quite satisfying. Worth the trip to the Lower East Side."

  • "Amazing food. Every dish was great. Awesome music (Jazz/blues/funk). As it got later, bigger groups started coming in and the restaurant was getting a little packed b/c people were standing everywhere but the food was worth it for sure."

  • "Bravo! The entire experience from beginning to end was delightful!"

  • "I've lived in New York for more than 30 years and I've never been to a place as loud as Antibes. It was literally painful. Between the hard brick surfaces, the amped up music, and the full house where everyone was screaming to be heard, it was crazy. Even the waitress couldn't hear what we were trying to order. It's a shame, because the food was excellent and it seemed like a nice spot. All of this was on a Friday night at 8:00. I'll probably return when it's less crowded to see if it's any more comfortable. My tip? Go early on a slow night!"

  • "We had the short ribs and the lamb mergez. The short ribs melt in your mouth, brimming with flavors. The lamb mergez has a nice kick and the sides balance out the spiciness. We were disappointed by the service, considering we had to get our server attention a few times with 3 occupied tables."

  • "I can't say enough about the food and service. The pea soup, artichoke salad, red snapper and chocolate dessert were just delicious. What a find! We will definitely be back."

  • "Menu had something for everyone and the portions were just right. I rather not have to take home leftovers! However if you are a big person, a side dish may be needed for the fish dishes. Some people had complained about the noise level, but for the three of us - it was just fine. We will be back!"

  • "I was excited to dine here when I read about how the ambience was really nice and the food was great and there was jazz playing. Personally, I felt like the jazz was a little too loud for eating comfortably. Our waitress was very polite but our bus boy never said a word to us and he wasn't smiling at all. I felt a little discouraged by his sad face the whole time. I honestly think its a cute place, but I don't see myself going here again. Other people love this place and I can see why, but maybe it was just that day that was bad."

  • "The food was really outstanding! I had read in some reviews that the portions were small, but I did not find that to be true at all. The portions are perfectly sized. The restaurant is very reasonably priced with main dishes between $16-$22. I've spent twice as much in restaurants in NYC which don't even compete in the same league in terms of quality of food. The ambiance is both romantic if you're a couple and also warm and friendly if you are with a group of friends. I was there in a group of 6. I only regret I don't live around the corner so it could become a regular spot. The service is great. The waitress was attentive, but did not hover over our table as you experience in many other places. This is a NOT MISS in NYC!"

  • "Had dinner here with a colleague and caught a great jazz act. The waiter was extremely courteous and the food was pretty good. Overall, the atmosphere was really low key and the relaxed environment made it the perfect place to have dinner while enjoying live music."

  • "Good food at good price. Drinks are good. Chicken under brick is great."

  • "Great cocktails. The salmon was very good, but a bit undercooked to my taste. The potato gratin was superb! Had the pear arugula salad. All was very nice. Had a lovely jazz band when we were there on Tuesday night."

  • "The modest prices for the neighborhood match the portions. A wonderful date spot, but don't go if you're starving (2 ravioli in the appetizer, and even the meat entrees were only about 3 ounces or a "deck of cards" size)."

  • "I took a group of friends here to celebrate a birthday, and everyone absolutely loved the place. The ambiance was great, and the food was fantastic. I got the grilled octopus and lamb shank special, and both were amazing. Also, the prices were pretty decent for the amount and quality of the food we got. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who loves food and is comfortable with a smaller restaurant space."

  • "Love Antibes! It's tucked down a side street in one of the coolest neighborhoods on the east side. It is such a cozy, inviting place all brick wall and candle charm. The food is quality and always delicious!"

  • "The best time to go is before the 9:00pm dinner rush. Love the ambience, lighting, and decor. We had great service and the food was great! The grilled octopus was well seasoned but a little chewy. Aside from that main entree was very well seasoned!"
