Diner Reviews
  • "We booked an early dinner to be able to dine upstairs, which has a better view of the waterfront and less noise than downstairs. One of our party thought she'd lost something at the table. The wait person was very helpful, using her cell phone to illuminate under the table to help our search. She also gave us samples of a wine we weren't familiar with before we ordered a full glass. Each of us had leftovers, not because we didn't love the food, but because we had more than we could eat. We agreed that we'd return for our next dinner together. The food was very good, the setting was lovely!"

  • "Have eaten here many times. Steaks as well as the many seafood dishes are excellent. And wonderful desserts, too."

  • "Such an awesome place to have a great dinner after an busy day at work in Seattle area! The atmosphere of the restaurant is awesome, the service is very good. The list of wines is impressive and matches with the delicious seafood that they have. I tired before the crab cakes and you can never go wrong with them! Are absolutely delicious! Then pasta or any fish cooked are awesome. They are fresh and pacific catches fish. Eat with that view is already relaxing plus the food and wines... Very recommendable. We didn't have time for dessert but they looked yummy in other tables."

  • "I was looking forward to some great seafood with a scenic view so I selected Anthony's, and with a tight schedule, I was happy to see they were also on Open Table for a guaranteed reservation. I was seated promptly, though, that was the last time I saw an employee for the next 20 minutes. Tired of waiting, I returned to the hostess station to request a waiter. My order was taken and I was again looking forward to a great meal. The meal arrived with the seafood totally undercooked! The waitress was apologetic, took the dish back and promptly returned with the exact same piece. Since it had a sauce, and the sauce was not charred as would happen on an open grill, my guess is that the dish was microwaved. Total tourist trap not worth visiting."

  • "Excellent Sunday brunch! I can't say enough about it. From the food to the view to the wonderful service. I would recommend this to everyone I know!"

  • "I am always pleased when I take out of town guests to Anthony's in Des Moines. The food is consistently great, the view is spectacular, the wait staff is attentive, It is a great neighborhood place for us to gather for lunch or dinner, or a great dessert and coffee!"

  • "Metal beam supporting the tables were to low & both husband & myself whacked our knees, also when sitting at the booth I couldn't cross my legs because of it. Poor design. Waitress slow & not very informative."

  • "We especially like coming to Anthony's for brunch for the view but also for the menu choices. None of us can eat enough to justify those huge buffet brunches, but we are very happy with the Anthony's brunch menu.. The delicious coffee cake with honey butter and fruit tray at the beginning are a wonderful start for the plated choices. The range from eggs, to bennies, to seafood offerings are perfect for a wide range of tastes and the portions are quite generous. The cost for this level of food is reasonable enough to encourage us to dine more often than we would at a huge buffet but still enjoy an upscale, celebration appropriate venue. We will be back!"

  • "And cooked perfectly. We know what we can expect so it is one of our main choices when we want to go out for a bite of dinner. Always consistent and good. A little loud for us if we come before 8 pm but it seems a minor inconvenience."

  • "We generally go to Anthony's in Des Moines for dinner which are great! I have never been for lunch until this time. There were 4 of us one which was disabled. Our request for a booster seat to put her foot on was waiting for her at the table, great! Thanks guys! . We needed extra time to make up our minds but nothing was said about "can I bring you any bread?". Finally when she came back to take our order she mentioned, "oh would you like bread?" I said yes I'm starving! I thought she would bring it within a reasonable time frame. The bread arrived within 2 minutes of our lunches. That was a bummer. When my sister received her lunch it was wrong. They did take that off the tab which was very nice. I think I'd give it one more go for lunch."

  • "This restaurant is perfect for anytime you want seafood, a view, and a nice atmosphere. I have been here many times and it is always good to great. Food qulaity and presentation is superb. And when the sun is out, this place hits all the marks."

  • "Two couples. We enjoyed our food, wine, and desserts immensely. The server was experienced, professional and accommodating. He brought a gluten-free menu and gave special guidance to one of our members. He was also very helpful about splitting the check. There were times in our 7:30 seating when it was hard to hear but not consistently."

  • "Personally I prefer a restaurant that challenges my food senses more. The birthday girl picked Anthony's. We had a lovely evening. She thoroughly enjoyed her 60th b-day dinner w/friends. I rated it Very Good because she would have. For me it was Good."

  • "I can't fault the restaurant for our experience. The food and service were fine but the large group next to us, as well as the chatter from surrounding tables, made our dining experience pretty miserable."

  • "Delightful find in a small town not noted for fine dining. The service was pleasant an unobtrusive. The food was nicely sized and well prepared. The wine selection, while not extensive, was good and well selected to compliment the dishes."

  • "We enjoyed dining at Anthony's. The drinks and food were good. Service was a bit slow and the restaurant was really loud. Often, we could not hear our guests speak."

  • "Anthony's is a reliable local restaurant with a good view of the Puget Sound and the opportunity to watch the boat activity at Des Moines Marina - a plus for a boat fanatic. The staff was able to accomidate my request for a window table and provided the right amount of attentitiveness to our needs. Their food quality is on par for a upper mid-range restaurant that has multiple locations. Although my friend's tempura beats Anthony's version hands down, the restaurants version was pretty good for a larger restaurant. And the smokiness of the salmon was well done to enhance the richness of the fish. Overall a plesant experience."

  • "The food was delicious and the service we received from Amanda was spot on. She was outstanding. We were finally seated 20 minutes after our reservation time. The first thing Amanda did was extend apologies for the long wait and offered an appetizer on the house. Everything our party of 5 ordered was absolutely delicious and the bread pudding was the perfect end to the meal. Complements to the chef and complements to whoever made the decision to hire Amanda. She is top notch."

  • "We come here for birthday, anniversaries, etc. the food is always excellent, the atmosphere is perfect for conversation. Lots of multigenerational families enjoying each other's company. My only suggestion is that the hostess staff could be more friendly and warm. The wait staff is amazing."

  • "On vacation in Seattle and wanted to get some local seafood. Had a great experience. Our waitress was prompt and the food was fantastic. It is right on the water so it is great for a romantic evening. I would recommend for any occasion."

  • "My family and I chose Anthony's Homeport for our NYE dinner not only because we were lucky to find a reservation open the night before, but because we've always had a great experience there. The waitress was awesome and the food was perfect. Steak, prawns & a baked potato...my favorite meal!"

  • "Met with old friends for lunch and could not have been better. Window table overlooking the marina, reasonable noise level allowing us to catch up; excellent light lunch menu - does not get better than that."

  • "Anthony's in Des Moines has it all. You can have a wonderful Sunday Brunch, a drop in visit to the great bar with wonderful lunch and a romantic evening out - all with a view in any direction. The wait staff is wonderful and seem to read your mind. If all of that isn't enough - the food is very good and always take advantage of their seasonal specialties....leave room for the best desserts around. We don't just go there on special occasions, but in the rain as well. Thanks Anthony's for being in Des Moines, and being very consistent in your excellent quality."

  • "Whenever I need to meet freinds or clients for lunch or dinner, I choose Anthony's. There's nothing worse that meeting up someplace where the food and service is subpar. I love to place clients in view of water, mountains, boats, birds and people - any Anthony's will give them a flavor of the great Pacific Northwest with the views and menu they offer. I love how they feature NW wines and locally grown food. On top of all of this, Anthony's let's me give my clients a stellar experience without breaking my pocketbook. The Des Moines Anthony's is our neighborhood gem. The view of the boats and yacht club, Maury and Vashon Islands, The Olympic Mountains, King Fishers, Great Blue Herons - AND great food - it doesn't get any better that this!"

  • "Looked for a nice place to eat and visit - not too far from the airport. Met friends with a layover and took them to Anthony's HomePort since I have liked Anthonys' where we live (Tacoma) and have visited (SanDiego). It met my expectations. We had a nice corner table and enjoyed our food and visit. I would recommend it again. We frequent the Anthony's at Point Defiance as it is closest to us."

  • "I took my dad out for his 79th birthday on Friday and I swear I'm not a picky eater. I eat everything that doesn't eat me first, but I ordered the Mahi-Mahi that said it was done with Macadamia nuts, which I love. The fish was way overcooked and had almost no flavor to speak of. The "sauce" if you can call it that, seemed like it was maybe just butter, and the macadamia nuts weren't even chopped up and they tasted stale and looked like they'd just been thrown on the plate after the fish was overcooked. My Caesar salad was doused in dressing and I had to dab it off on the plate. It was kind of an unpleasant dining experience, especially since the dinner for 2 was $100. Some flavor next time would be great."

  • "I really enjoy this restaurant. The early dinners are a great bargain ($20 for appetizer, salad, entree and dessert!) and have always been delicious. Out waitress was nice enough but seemed a bit preoccupied. To be fair it was a Friday and they are always pretty busy."

  • "We had an unfortunate experience on our last visit to Anthony's, the management team responded quickly and kindly to get us back. They have solidified to us this is a top notch restaurant and we will be back!"

  • "Went there the first night it reopened from a utility shut down for a few days. Caesar salad was a little wilted and its famed fried oysters a little sub par. Much quieter than normal since most people didn't know it was reopened. It wouldn't stay quiet long."

  • "Was in town on business with a couple of colleagues and decided to try Anthony's. I had met success at a couple other seafood restaurants in the area and wanted to try Anthony's. As they put it, my reputation, was on the line with my choice of restaurant. I had a standby in Des Moines, but wanted to reach out a bit. It was a great decision. As for the meal, the clam chowder was OK, the ahi was excellent, and the wine the waitress recommended was superb. I don't usually have dessert unless the meal is very good, since dessert is on par or slightly worse; however this time I had the mousse and it was excellent. Waitress was very attentive and knoweldgeable about the menu and wines. If anything, I wish they had more outdoor seating."
