Anthony's Creative Italian CuisineNice birthday dinnerMy husband and I celebrated our mutual birthday with our daughter. The food was very good (special clams appetizer was my favorite). My only complaint is when the busboy took my plate away, he only saved the meat and threw away the vegetables and potatoes. (I had eaten 1/2 my rack of lamb and 1/2 of the sides to save for a meal the next day.) We'll be back again soon. Anthony greets customers, serves food, and interacts throughout the meal. He makes each patron feel like a friend, while serving high quality dishes. The small town setting creates a dining experience for locals and out-of-towners alike. The cozy atmosphere creates a romantic and special occasion feeling. Nothing like most of the "chains" which taste like sauce from a jar or can, and pasta that is cooked almost to "Paste!" While the food is great, I return for the incomparable and complimentary wine service; I have never had a better experience at a BYOB or a restaurant where I paid a corkage fee. The Riedel glasses make a huge difference along with the availablity of a decanter, which is always clean and never stained from prior usage. We had some concerns since we were a group of six on Mother's Day, but this proved to be a non-factor. The food was delicious, the service friendly if a little more rushed than usual (this is a minor criticism--the restaurant was busy and this was understandable). The small environment makes for a lovely evening or afternoon meal. The food is superb and rates with the finest of restaurants in Philadelphia, and other major cities' premier restaurants without the matching high city prices!
