Diner Reviews
  • "First, our server Caroline was amazing. She let us take our time ordering, made great suggestions and checked back frequently on us to make sure we had everything we needed. Next comes the food, the clam chowder was great, but the cheese fondue was amazing. Follow this with an incredible meatloaf, and I just couldn't eat anymore. My martini was spot on to boot. Can't wait to come back the next time I am in town."

  • "Solid drink menu and great food. Everything came out quickly, correctly, and tasted delicious. I would absolutely return the next time I'm in Boston!"

  • "Better than most of the local competiion. Comfort food that hits home with locals and tourists. Adequate but not extensive beer and wine selections that matches the menu. Enough variety to please most and quality meets expectations. Have dined here several times and service and food are consistently pleasing."

  • "The host staff left quite a bit to be desired. First they tried to seat us upstairs, which was completely empty. My mother has severe back and joint problems, which I informed the hostess of. When we asked to be seated downstairs, which was practically empty save for 2 tables, the hostess made it seem we were putting them out and made a production of choosing one of the several empty tables. Our server was alright. She was nice enough, but nothing noteworthy about the service. We did try to order a second beverage from another server who took plates from the table, but were told we would have to wait for our server. The food was alright, but again, nothing to rave about. They also overcharged me by $65. We'll see how that pans out."

  • "We returned to Anthem as we enjoyed it 3 years ago during our summer holidays. Unfortunately the gorgeous meatloaf stack that we remembered turned out to be a thin slice of meatloaf with a lump of mashed potatoes on top. When we asked the waiter where the layers were, he said that all the ingredients including the cheese, were ground with the meat. We didn't want to spoil our evening with an argument, but what is a stack without layers?"

  • "We had a group of 11 seated upstairs. Very patient with our group. Server was good. Overall, not a bad place to eat and rush to the Garden."

  • "We reserved a table for 15 and from the moment we arrived we were treated like VIP. We ended up having our own little area and our server was awesome, there was never a point that anyone in my party had empty glasses of water of drinks. The food was great (SALMON was EXCELLENT). I recommend this place!!!"

  • "Dinner was nice there, the restaurant was a little slow for a Sunday dinner service, but the wait staff was incredibly friendly and service was top notch. The location was pretty good too, right on the corner of faneuil hall near 60 State Street."

  • "The most outstanding part of the dining experience was the service. Very attentive, knowledgeable as to the menu and very helpful. Restaurant setup is very open so tends to have a noise level. Conveniently located in South Market corner- easy to fiind."

  • "This is a great place at Faneuil Hall - probably our favorite one there, so far. The prices aren't break-the-bank so that is very appreciated, and there are decent drink options. I had margherita pizza which was pretty good - I liked the fact they used buffalo mozzarella."

  • "Great location and a good Bostonian bar and food experience, They have interesting beers, not just the common ones. The ambience is a bit loud, but it would be ok if you go to see a game."

  • "I love this spot and continue to recommend to others. I have been there for special occasions such as birthdays or friends bachelorette parties. It is also a great place for a glass of wine and apps with friends! The food and drinks are great."

  • "I really like the overall scene at Anthem... very classy ambiance and it feels pretty upscale. However, at the same time, the food prices are very affordable and their drinks are solid. The service was really poor (we felt extremely pressured to order, the waitress must have asked us 10 times in the span of 10 minutes if we were ready to order... and then when we were ready to pay our waitress was nowhere to be found), but I can let that slide because it was a great time overall and the food was pretty tasty."

  • "We received a gift card for Anthem and decided to try it out on an infrequent visit to Boston. The location is great, right in the middle of activity near Quincy Market. We had lunch in the glassed in area on the main floor, which was nicely appointed with a good view of all the passersby. The second floor area looked interesting, but we didn't notice it until we were already seated. Our waiter was attentive and professional, anticipating our needs. The food? It was good but not memorable. With all the food choices in that part of the city, I would try something else before going back."

  • "Had a great time for brunch! The food was delicious and the drinks were wonderful. I've also had various group dinners there. The staff is excellent and attentive. The food is delicious! Especially the chowder!"

  • "After a terrible experience at another restaurant, we were so happy to have ended up at Anthem on a Sunday morning recently. The restaurant is in a great location in Faneuil Hall, providing a good view of the artists who perform on the weekends. We were seated right away, the service was wonderful and the food was delicious. We tried the corned beef hash and the breakfast sandwich. Not the usual corned beef - instead, large chunks of well-seasoned meat mixed with potatoes. The bread for the breakfast sandwich was light and fluffy. Have already recommended this restaurant to friends and family, and am looking forward to going back myself."

  • "You can't go wrong with Anthem. While it can be expensive, the food is really good. The clam chowder is some of the best I've had in Boston. Went here with my family for lunch, and this time for an evening date. The place was perfect for both situations. They also do have a breat bar, but it's never been the main reason for my trip."

  • "A great feature to offer reservations for this busy night."

  • "Anthem definitely seems to have experience with large groups. My only slightly negative observation was that our table of 11 was served by just one server. While she did a very good job, another server would have made things go more smoothly. All members of our group commented that the food was quite good."

  • "Had a family lunch and it was fun watching all the people passing by outside. The menu covered all our needs with a decent kids menu and a gluten-free menu. Server was attentive, and plates came with nice presentation. Only complaint was half the family ate their meal wearing their winter coat. I'd advise if a cold day to request a table away from the windows."

  • "i had not been in several months and always get the same salad for lunch. Caesar salad with steak. in the past the steak was always cooked to perfection and very tasty. unfortunately, this time it was over cooked and very dry. It was almost like it was a leftover piece of steak that was warmed up."

  • "We had a group of 12 and they gave us a great spot in back so we would not interrupt others dining. I would choose this restaurant again."

  • "Went there with 3 of my friends for the first time and it did not disappoint. It had an energetic feel being right in Faneuil Hall and a huge selection of menu options. It is a great place to grab something to eat before you go grab a drink at a bar/club. I highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to dine out in Fanueil."

  • "My boyfriend and I went out to dinner before a bruins game. I had red some reviews and this place seemed perfect. Not too expensive, but something nice and romantic before a crazy night at the game. (yay Bruins!) The dining room we were in was very pretty I loved the exposed brick. The best part must have been the view. Christmas time in Faneuil hall is beautiful and were were sitting by a window where I could see all the gorgeous lights."

  • "Not sure why I keep going back. This is likely my last time. Service was awful and keeps getting worse. Meal came out before the apps? Who does that? My daughter's grilled cheese came out after the meal and the apps came when the waitress said she would rush it. Food is ok. Worst poured black/tan I have had in Boston - looked like mud."

  • "Beautiful restaurant. The food was good but unimpressive. Everything in the menu seemed to have a spicy undertone and my friend that is highly sensitive to spice was not please."

  • "We enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving Dinner in a relaxed atmosphere. The view of the Christmas Lights by Faneuil Hall from the Anthem balcony was beautiful!! The traditional turkey dinner was the perfect size to fill you without stuffing you. We opted to add a cup of their famous Clam Chowder, which lived up to its award winning accomplishment! A great experience with a superior staff!"

  • "I went to Anthem on what may have een it's busiest night of the year, the Tree Lighting at Fanueil Hall (which I didn't know was that night when I made the reservation) I was stuck in traffic just 4 blocks away for over 75 minutes, so I called the resturant, told them the situation, and the hostess said not to worry, they would hold a table for me. After arriving, I was shown a table right away, even with all the craziness going on... it was very loud due to the abundance of people, but still was a good time... it was a little on the pricey side for portion size in my opinion, yet still, I would try it again sometime Server was great... didn't really catch his name due to the noise, but he was on top of everything"

  • "I love utlizing open table to make reservations to new places! Anthem was a good fit for my group of 15! The atmosphere wasn't too loud and we were able to have good conversations to catch up. Food was well priced. A couple orders were messed up but they took those off the bill."

  • "Found the restaurant off your web-site when looking for a place in the area. Was a little nervous walking in, with the name Anthem Kitchen and Bar, not sure what to expect. The place has zero atmosphere, and we were seated upstairs not near a window, but we were here to catch up with an old college friend so that didn't matter. But what made up for it was the food! Just about everything was delicious, the 4 Cheese Fondue appetizer, Salmon and risotto cake dinner, Scallop and Pork Belly dinner, and the Dessert Pizza. Only disappointment was the Fried Twinkie, as it was overwhelmed by the fried dough on the outside. The place was over-run with college age kids by the time we left, but I will definitely return for the food!"

  • "Once again the food at Anthem was more than up to it's usual very high standard and the atmosphere was lively and the location is - of course - outstanding. This place is a real gem and though it is easy to be put off by the tourist trappings and the pretty down market decor and layout that would be a very bad mistake. Yes, it's a bar but note that it is also a kitchen and a very good one at that."

  • "Our reservation was for six; they called the day of to confirm and were very accommodating when we needed to add another person. Food was good and moderately priced. Our meals ranged from salads to fish to filet and everyone cleaned their plate. The waitress was attentive, although drink service could have been quicker. All in all, another nice night at Anthem!"

  • "The service was very good but meal I ordered which was fish and chips in a beer batter came out undercooked and pasty. The restaurant wasn't very busy so clearly the chef wasn't paying attention."

  • "Our group of 7 people had everything from Homemade Potato Chips with Spicy Onion Dip, Grilled Cheese & Clam Chowder to Hamburgers! Everything was delicious!"

  • "We met an Anthem for dinner. The ambiance is bar/pub and the food is similar. One surprise was the salmon. The caesar salad was average at best. Noise level of the balcony was mind numbing, so ask for another table if you want to talk!"
