Diner Reviews
  • "My boyfriend and I came here for a late dinner and ordered off the late-night menu. We chose this place because of its convenient location in Fanueil Hall and for the fact that they serve Sam Adams Brick Red. Loved the flatbread and fried pickles. I'd definitely go back the next time I'm in Boston."

  • "Our waitress was one of the best we've had anywhere. She was patient while our reunited group of 8 did the typical socialize before order thing and then made perfect recommendations for us on wine and food after listening to our questions on the menu. She even had the courage to dissuade us from things we thought would be good but that she knew weren't going to be what we were expecting. All 8 of us enjoyed the food and the service and started our visit perfectly. We will certainly come back to Anthem in the future."

  • "They wanted to seat us at a small bar table, but we asked for a booth. They said the only booth they had was going to another group, who I swear was still deciding whether or not to even eat there. When I decide to make a reservation, I kind of expect to have a decent table held for me. We ended up outside where we got to listen to honking cabbies and drunk bros. We only wanted something small to nibble on, so we ordered the calamari and the cheese fondue with lobster. The calamari were good, but the fondue is a must order. The cheese is thin enough that is actually soaks into the bread instead of just coating it, but the big chunks of lobster already in the cheese will have you skipping the bread in no time anyway. Deeeeelicious."

  • "We had a variety of foods inlcuding the Lobster Mac & Cheese, Chicken with Mashed potatoes (enough for 2 meals). All were super yummy and nicely presented. Good drinks too!"

  • "Dinner was pretty good, we were sat at a beautiful table. The food and drinks were delicious. The only thing we had a little problem with was our server. He wasn't very attentive and we felt as though we had to flag him down every time we needed something. Other than that we really enjoyed our dinner!"

  • "Our wait staff was very pleasant; it did take over an hour for brunch food to be served for 10 guests; some items on the menu were not available like fruit plate and only one style of omelet available to order which I thought was unusual for a brunch reservation of 11am"

  • "Given the proximity to Faneuil Hall this was perfect for a post-Naturalization ceremony celebration. Staff were very accommodating and attentive. Food was good for lunch purposes but would say terrific. We were celebrating and so we were very happy all around."

  • "This was the first time I had been to Anthem for dinner and not just for drinks and apps at the bar. Overall, it was okay. Even though my boyfriend and I were meeting for a quick dinner before he had to go back to work, I wish we weren't seated at a high-top table at the bar. The hostess didn't ask if that was ok, despite our reservation. I would have a tough time tipping 20% because we barely saw our waiter. He didn't bring water, didn't check to see how the food was, and took forever to stop and see if we wanted anything else before the check. The food was pretty good, though. My boyfriend had the spicy lobster flatbread and devoured it. I had the turkey wrap, which was a little difficult to eat at first (a lot of kale!) but got better."

  • "Anthem is great. Been there twice but they changed the steak. Steak was better before. Fondue was amazing. Love anthem"

  • "I have eaten at Athem multiple times and always enjoyed the food. We tried something new, homemade chips w onion dip and margherita pizza. Chips did not taste homemade and were not warm as I had expected. They lacked flavor, which the onion dip somewhat made up for. The pizza was by far the worst I have ever had. The sauce was not at all fresh. Tasted like Chef Boyardee in a can. The crust couldn't be cut with a knife (even the chef didn't cut through), it tasted stale and was covered in flour. Sent it back and thankfully didn't have to pay for it. Left hungry. First time I have ever given a poor review of a restuarant. I feel bad but it was not good at all."

  • "went for brunch, we were seated outside at a table that was sloped uncomfortably downward and our first round of coffee was barely warm. husband ordered the corned beef hash and they brought ham and eggs. the other two of us started eating because the food wasn't that hot to begin with. no apology and he didn't get his food until we were almost finished. chorizo and eggs over medium - the eggs were undercooked and my toast was cold. husband's eggs were very undercooked. the "brioche" french toast was not brioche but texas toast and was just OK. overall not great service, server was nice but not attentive, food just OK. atmosphere was nice on patio looking at quincy market"

  • "Went here with my boyfriend for a lunch date. We got the calamari as an appetizer, it was incredible especially the cherry peppers that come fried with it. I got the wicked hot burger and it was delicious, plus the french fries were exactly how I like them, but the calamari was so filling I could hardly eat half. The drinks were okay, nothing special. The service was good, I asked to sit in the covered patio area and was told there were no open tables but could see an open table for 2 that was never filled the whole time we were at the restaurant which turned me off. Overall, the food is good, but a little pricy for what it is. I would recommend other places outside of the touristy areas before Anthem, but would recommend it"

  • "Airy atmosphere with upscale casual dinning in Faneuil Hall area. The glass enclosure makes you feel like you are dining on a patio but with the comfort of AC. The food is very good and there is a nice variety. We have eaten here twice with our son who is in college, so it is low key with a few TV's around the bar to make it casual; yet good food and wine making it more special. There are plenty of tables that can seat six, so no feeling crowded in. The service is excellent and the prices are reasonable for the dishes and beverages served."

  • "Been there once for lunch. It was a beautiful day and we dined outdoors. Loved that it was part of Quincy Market. A lot of activity was going on. Weight staff was excellent and food was very good for what we ordered. "

  • "My son who graduated from Northeastern University picked this restaurant for his lunch after graduation. We had a wonderful time and the food was good. I would absolutely come back again! We had a 2:30 reservation, but called to see if we could get in an hour earlier and they were gracious to move our reservation to 1:30! "

  • "In town with friends for the Boston Marathon. Anthem could accommodate our group of 12, reviews and ratings for brunch were good. Positive: location on the 2nd floor made for easy conversation. Negative: brunch menu was basic breakfast items, quality wasn't great, portions small. Menu omelet was "chefs choice" ham and cheddar cheese, but I wanted spinach and feta... no dice the waitress said "we don't have spinach or feta". I settled on on ham and 'swiss'. My friend ordered a two egg omelet with "whatever veggies you've got". The meals were served and my omelet was spinach, swiss, ham and red pepper, my friend was served a cheddar and ham omelet. Weird. Quite a few orders were mixed up and incorrect. The trade off was food for good space."

  • "I have had business lunches here a couple times a year. Sorry to say, won't be going back. Caesar salad unremarkable. Could not tell what the dressing was. Salmon was un recognizable No flavor and kinda mushy. "

  • "First, our server Caroline was amazing. She let us take our time ordering, made great suggestions and checked back frequently on us to make sure we had everything we needed. Next comes the food, the clam chowder was great, but the cheese fondue was amazing. Follow this with an incredible meatloaf, and I just couldn't eat anymore. My martini was spot on to boot. Can't wait to come back the next time I am in town."

  • "Better than most of the local competiion. Comfort food that hits home with locals and tourists. Adequate but not extensive beer and wine selections that matches the menu. Enough variety to please most and quality meets expectations. Have dined here several times and service and food are consistently pleasing."

  • "The host staff left quite a bit to be desired. First they tried to seat us upstairs, which was completely empty. My mother has severe back and joint problems, which I informed the hostess of. When we asked to be seated downstairs, which was practically empty save for 2 tables, the hostess made it seem we were putting them out and made a production of choosing one of the several empty tables. Our server was alright. She was nice enough, but nothing noteworthy about the service. We did try to order a second beverage from another server who took plates from the table, but were told we would have to wait for our server. The food was alright, but again, nothing to rave about. They also overcharged me by $65. We'll see how that pans out."

  • "We returned to Anthem as we enjoyed it 3 years ago during our summer holidays. Unfortunately the gorgeous meatloaf stack that we remembered turned out to be a thin slice of meatloaf with a lump of mashed potatoes on top. When we asked the waiter where the layers were, he said that all the ingredients including the cheese, were ground with the meat. We didn't want to spoil our evening with an argument, but what is a stack without layers?"

  • "We reserved a table for 15 and from the moment we arrived we were treated like VIP. We ended up having our own little area and our server was awesome, there was never a point that anyone in my party had empty glasses of water of drinks. The food was great (SALMON was EXCELLENT). I recommend this place!!!"

  • "Dinner was nice there, the restaurant was a little slow for a Sunday dinner service, but the wait staff was incredibly friendly and service was top notch. The location was pretty good too, right on the corner of faneuil hall near 60 State Street."

  • "The most outstanding part of the dining experience was the service. Very attentive, knowledgeable as to the menu and very helpful. Restaurant setup is very open so tends to have a noise level. Conveniently located in South Market corner- easy to fiind."

  • "I really like the overall scene at Anthem... very classy ambiance and it feels pretty upscale. However, at the same time, the food prices are very affordable and their drinks are solid. The service was really poor (we felt extremely pressured to order, the waitress must have asked us 10 times in the span of 10 minutes if we were ready to order... and then when we were ready to pay our waitress was nowhere to be found), but I can let that slide because it was a great time overall and the food was pretty tasty."

  • "We received a gift card for Anthem and decided to try it out on an infrequent visit to Boston. The location is great, right in the middle of activity near Quincy Market. We had lunch in the glassed in area on the main floor, which was nicely appointed with a good view of all the passersby. The second floor area looked interesting, but we didn't notice it until we were already seated. Our waiter was attentive and professional, anticipating our needs. The food? It was good but not memorable. With all the food choices in that part of the city, I would try something else before going back."

  • "After a terrible experience at another restaurant, we were so happy to have ended up at Anthem on a Sunday morning recently. The restaurant is in a great location in Faneuil Hall, providing a good view of the artists who perform on the weekends. We were seated right away, the service was wonderful and the food was delicious. We tried the corned beef hash and the breakfast sandwich. Not the usual corned beef - instead, large chunks of well-seasoned meat mixed with potatoes. The bread for the breakfast sandwich was light and fluffy. Have already recommended this restaurant to friends and family, and am looking forward to going back myself."
