  • Turkish food in the theater district

I have often passed by AnTalia and never gave it a glance. The front part of the restaurant doesn't tell you anything - it could be a local diner. The bicycles outside the front door which are used for deliveries seem to confirm that. Yet, once you get inside and go towards the back which opens up to a spacious dining room, the feeling that you are in a diner is gone. The food was good, as was the service. We enjoyed the experience (one of our party was actually from Turkey) and agreed we would certainly go back there if the occasion arose.

Didn't even know about this place with its great location in the theatre district until I saw it on Open Table. There is no way you can beat the Prix Fix dinner! The food and service were excellent. The range of choices of appetisers and entrees was more than adequate and covered all the traditional middle eastern dishes. My grilled salmon wrapped in grape leaves was especially unusual and good. Appetisers were large and sharing two was a good idea. Service was good, and they made sure we were out in time for a 7 pm show.

Have wanted to try AnTalia for a while and had some guests in town for a few days. We were greeted and promptly seated. The waiter was patient & polite, even though we were busy talking & he had to come back 3 times for our order. The food was delicious! The lentil soup was exceptionally good. Over all, a very nice place & I would definitely go back again.

I needed to find someplace for a pre-theater dinner that was adaptable to my friend's food restrictions (no gluten, no dairy), and I happened upon AnTalia. What a find! The food was excellent—full of flavor and plentiful. We stuck to the basics, hummus, baba ghanoush, a mixed grill platter, and were more than satisfied. The Turkish pita bread, more like a light Italian bread than traditional pita, was a revelation. I will definitely be going back. They've also got a prix fixe dinner package that's well worth the price: under $25 for a three-course meal.

It was good, the food is better than average and the prices would normally freak me out at that but the service makes up for it. They were very attentive, always stopping by to refill our wine glasses even though the left the bottle at the table. The hummus was wonderful and the calamari light and crispy! I heard about it through living social, but turns out they do a prefix menu every day! Its a great place for special occasions.

This restaurant has a good selection of Turkish dishes, although not many for a light lunch. We ordered appetizers instead, which worked out well. The restaurant was not crowded at lunch on Saturday so is an excellent choice for a pre-matinee meal. There is no problem getting out on time.

I love food from turkey. The lamb was over cooked and tough, the grilled calamari in a salad was not prepared in a way I expected and the dressing overwhelmed the grilled flavor. The stuffed grape leaves were excellent. Somewhat disappointing overall on a first visit.

AnTalia is an excellent Turkish restaurant very near Times Square; convenient for theaters, etc. Food and service are both excellent; the menu is extensive and the ambiance is quite good. Staff are very accommodating re special requests, e.g., timing due to theater schedules. Noise level is very low; a major plus for a restaurant these days.

As I am not a big fan of Turkish / Greek food, it was a headache for me to find the place. I found this restaurant throgh this site and booked as it was close to my office. The deco was very simple and clean and the place was packed for lunch hour! My friend enjoyed their food very much and I also loved their food!! I may come back there soon :)

I chose AnTalia only because it is near where I stayed on my visit to NYC. I liked it, and I think most diners would if they came with reasonable expectations. The restaurant's decor is OK, but the room is a little dark. The food is quite good. There is a feeling of authenticity here which is nice. This is not a restaurant for a splurge, but you can expect a good Turkish meal. Oh, and keep in mind that Turkish is one of the three major cuisines -- French-Italian, Chinese, and Turkish.

We were seated immediately and ordered the Shepherds Salad and a Mixed Olives Appetizer. For our main course we selected a Classic Doner Kebab (Gyro) and Chicken Shish Kebab, shared by both my wife and myself. Both dishes were most enjoyable. I might add, bring a healthy appetite as the portions are quite generous.

AnTalia is great for both lunch and dinner - all their meats are done to perfection and the rest of the menu is really solid. If you do the prix-fix. you are very likely to get full on the appetizer and bread - before your main course comes in. It is great for groups since it is never too loud and you can always share the appetizers and really get to try more of the menu. The staff is very friendly.

I went to AnTalia for the first time last week with 7 co-workers. The restauarant was not busy, but we all felt like we were being rushed. The staff was standing at the end of the table waiting for us to finish and picking up dishes while the rest of us were still eating. Additionally one extra appetizer was brought to the table, and when we sent it back the waiter came back with it and would not leave the table until we took it.
