Diner Reviews
  • "great restaurant, friendly staff. highly recommended"
    Dined on 7/26/2014
  • "It was good, the food is better than average and the prices would normally freak me out at that but the service makes up for it. They were very attentive, always stopping by to refill our wine glasses even though the left the bottle at the table. The hummus was wonderful and the calamari light and crispy! I heard about it through living social, but turns out they do a prefix menu every day! Its a great place for special occasions."

  • "Very expensive considering both the quality and quantity."

  • "This restaurant has a good selection of Turkish dishes, although not many for a light lunch. We ordered appetizers instead, which worked out well. The restaurant was not crowded at lunch on Saturday so is an excellent choice for a pre-matinee meal. There is no problem getting out on time."

  • "I love food from turkey. The lamb was over cooked and tough, the grilled calamari in a salad was not prepared in a way I expected and the dressing overwhelmed the grilled flavor. The stuffed grape leaves were excellent. Somewhat disappointing overall on a first visit."

  • "Lovely atmosphere with very good service and delicious food. We will return and were glad we got introduced to it thru Living Social deal."

  • "AnTalia is an excellent Turkish restaurant very near Times Square; convenient for theaters, etc. Food and service are both excellent; the menu is extensive and the ambiance is quite good. Staff are very accommodating re special requests, e.g., timing due to theater schedules. Noise level is very low; a major plus for a restaurant these days."

  • "very reasonably priced, good serivce, food was nicely prepared. Great value."
    Dined on 6/18/2014
  • "Good food, as always, but very strange service. We would tell one waiter to bring the next course and leave what was left of the appetizer, then another would come over and try to remove our food."

  • "Always come here for dinner when I'm in the theater district. The food is fabulous, the staff very friendly and accommodating, it's quiet and not stuffed to the gills with tables, and the price is right. But really - it's about the food. Soo delicious!"
    Dined on 6/13/2014
  • "I forgot how much l love this food.Ambience is ordinary but the nice waiters and food is the real star! Specials make this a very reasonable place to dine. Remember to try before theater or just because the food is so good!"

  • "One of those places we picked because of the location...not disappointed. Would return. Had the nicest informative friendly waiter, Fathi.."

  • "Rarely do I expect much from a restaurant in that area but we were pleasantly surprised. The food was authentic, well prepared and presented nicely. The service was very good as well. We will certainly return."

  • "Service was very good & attentive. Food was fair to mediocre. There much better Turkish restaurants in the area. "

  • "Awful. Not clean and unappetizing. Water on floor everywhere, slippery by our table. One unisex bathroom for over 70 seats. Spinach appetizer was mostly yogurt. Salmon was overly salty."

  • "My friend who was visiting from Japan requrested me to take her to Turkish restaurant so that she can enjoy REAK Turkish food.. As I am not a big fan of Turkish / Greek food, it was a headache for me to find the place. I found this restaurant throgh this site and booked as it was close to my office. The deco was very simple and clean and the place was packed for lunch hour! My friend enjoyed their food very much and I also loved their food!! I may come back there soon :)"

  • "I chose AnTalia only because it is near where I stayed on my visit to NYC. I liked it, and I think most diners would if they came with reasonable expectations. The restaurant's decor is OK, but the room is a little dark. The food is quite good. There is a feeling of authenticity here which is nice. This is not a restaurant for a splurge, but you can expect a good Turkish meal. Oh, and keep in mind that Turkish is one of the three major cuisines -- French-Italian, Chinese, and Turkish."

  • "We were seated immediately and ordered the Shepherds Salad and a Mixed Olives Appetizer. For our main course we selected a Classic Doner Kebab (Gyro) and Chicken Shish Kebab, shared by both my wife and myself. Both dishes were most enjoyable. I might add, bring a healthy appetite as the portions are quite generous. "

  • "AnTalia is great for both lunch and dinner - all their meats are done to perfection and the rest of the menu is really solid. If you do the prix-fix. you are very likely to get full on the appetizer and bread - before your main course comes in. It is great for groups since it is never too loud and you can always share the appetizers and really get to try more of the menu. The staff is very friendly."

  • "I went to AnTalia for the first time last week with 7 co-workers. The restauarant was not busy, but we all felt like we were being rushed. The staff was standing at the end of the table waiting for us to finish and picking up dishes while the rest of us were still eating. Additionally one extra appetizer was brought to the table, and when we sent it back the waiter came back with it and would not leave the table until we took it."

  • "We had a very good turkish dinner before heading to the theater. The food was very good and fresh. The staff accommodating to our tight schedule. It was a very popular place."

  • "After the theater, but before we drove home it was the perfect spot for dinner. It was like being back in Istanbul. The food was well prepared and so fresh! One downside- it was Passover so we did not partake of their wonderful fresh oven baked pita. Our friends said it was marvelous"

  • "celebrated a re-union with college friends, the food was just okay: the rice with okra a disappointment and the wine was awful. the service was good, my friends seem to enjoy themselves but i would not go back there again. "

  • "An Talia was a delight-wonderful Mediterranean food meat, chicken, vegetables -done with care and not over sauced-delicious bread n chick pea and eggplant dips.Waiter was excellent- we were a group of 10 and he was helpful and attentive( was also happy to know several of us had been to Turkey!) Enjoyed Turkish wines, lovely deserts ( celebrating two birthdays) Would happily return there."

  • "We had a plate of dips and bread- very tasty. The okra and vegetable stews were also very good and mildly spicy, served with rice, it was reminiscent of a creole."

  • "Busy night pre-New Years weekend, found the restaurant on Open Table and booked with short notice. We were not disappointed. Everything we tried was delicious. My sister declared the stuffed grape leaves the best she had ever had. Service was very attentive without being over-bearing. Overall, a great meal!"

  • "This is a great place to go before hitting a Broadway play. The service is fast and the food is good - and beats all the tourist traps in that area. Appetizers were good and the fish main courses were really well-cooked. I will definitely go back if I am in that neighborhood again."

  • "Pleasantly surprised to find this small, reasonably priced Turkish restaurant in tourist-trap midtown. Really good bread, great kebabs, very accommodating servers, lively lunch scene. We'll be back."
    Dined on 12/18/2013
  • "Waiters were rude. They were taking our plates before we were done eating. Appetizers were good but main entrees were not."
    Dined on 12/3/2013
  • "Don't get me wrong -- the food the good. But just good. I could recommend it to a friend who is in mid-town and craves Turkish food. But we've had better Turkish food elsewhere. There was not one dish that came close to being memorable. On the other hand, the value is excellent, especially for a theater-district place. Again the food was decent, the lentil soup served hot, the salads were fresh, the lamp and pureed eggplant dish was OK, though it lacked character or smokiness that I associate with this dish. We were there for an early dinner, before a 7pm curtain, and it was very empt. The decor is friendly, not fancy. So it gets an honest 3 starts -- Good, but nothing great."
