A word from ANNUNCIATION

We are a small restaurant, with a Creole 'cooked-to-order' menu featuring the freshest Gulf Coast seafood. We launched in July 2012, the vibe is young with a nice tension between the old building and its new inhabitants.

Diner Reviews
  • "Fantastic staff, food, drink, service are with the best in the city! Must go!"

  • "This was our first time here and we really enjoyed it. The food was really good, service was great. Good experience overall. Felt really welcomed. They do offer valet parking, so the limited street parking is not a problem."

  • "Our party of five had a wonderful meal, and the service was fantastic (thanks, Lee!). The kitchen put together a beautiful dish for our vegetarian friend, which he said was excellent. Beautiful ambience, although I could see how it could get noisy with a completely full dining room. Wouldn't hesitate to go back."

  • "Service was erratic and poor. Relatively short menu but several entrees unavailable. Waiter did not seem to be aware of this and came back to table 3 times to tell us that what we ordered was unavailable. Food, for New Orleans Creole place, wasn't up to expectations. Grilled Drum I ordered was dry and overcooked. My wife ordered a salmon entrée and was unsure that's what she actually received. Owners need to spend more time there. Seems a ship without a rudder."

  • "Great cocktails to start. Oysters and salads were good. Softshell crab and Drum dishes very good. Several dishes reflect the past influence of Clancy's with its own twist of Asian influences. Valet parking helps in this busy area. We have been several times and have enjoyed our meal each time."

  • "This was our first time dining at Annunciation. The restaurant is beautifully appointed and the food was excellent; however, the service was disappointing, and, I can't let this go without a comment - the bathroom (single, unisex) was filthy! Our waiter was arrogant and aloof, although he warmed up somewhat when he realized that we were locals. It's in a great location in the warehouse district, which is why we selected it after an evening at the Ogden Museum; but I don't know that we'll be in a hurry to go back."

  • "We had dinner with a couple of friends from Dallas while attending a convention. We were there on a Sunday night. The service was lacking. Evidently the server just did not care. Compared to other NOLA restaurants a -5. The pricing. Ridiculous for the food quality and service. A -6 on pricing/value as related to other NOLA restaurants. Food quality and quantity. Be forewarned, this is not a Tapas restaurant, but the portion sizes mimic tapas. The quality I would say was on par with Chili's being generous Ralph & Kackoo's. -10 ranking compared to local restaurants. I am finding more of the "hip" restaurants are simply places for people to go and then tell everyone they went. And never return. We will never return to Annunciation."

  • "I am a "food is fuel" type of person so rarely write reviews. However, the food and service were both spectacular. Menu has both New Orleans centric as well as out of region items and our table had meals from both. Would definitely recommend Annunciation when you are next in NO. Only concern is that it is a tad loud when full."

  • "Had dinner with friends at Annunciation on June 21, 2014. Absolutely fabulous. Service was great, our waiter was charming and funny, well informed about the menu and provided first class service. The food was perfect, great portions. Our guests raved. Highly recommend this restaurant. Will definitely be back."

  • "I dined at Annunciation late April 2013 on a weekend. The restaurant was packed, and the food and service were outstanding. Last week I went midweek. The restaurant was pretty empty, and the food was not as good. The maitre d' was very nice and checked on us towards the end of the meal. Our waiter hovered and seemed to rush us to order even though it was early and the restaurant empty. Our meals were good just not great. I would not cross it off my list of restaurants but will not hurry back."

  • "I want to be impressed. I wasn't. Everything was good but nothing was great. It was terribly noisy, I couldn't hear the people at my table. The kitchen door was very distracting by our table. Again, there was nothing wrong but nothing exceptional either."

  • "This place lived up to it's billing. From the hip maitre'd, to the eclectic atmosphere, to the wonderful menu the opeing stanzas were enjoyable. Then came the food! Fantastic! I would highly recommend this restaurant--you will not be diappointed!"

  • "Everything from our initial reception with the maître d to the friendly helpful yet highly professional and unobtrusive service - and the masterful preparation and presentation of fresh, top quality local ingredients, was simply outstanding. We highly recommend this jewel and fully intend to return as many times as we get to NOLA. Competitively priced and worth every penny."

  • "This was my favorite spot (we went to Muriels, commanders palace, stella!, r'evolution, bayona, to name a few) and THIS place beat them all! The food was A-MAZ-ING and the service was great. The waiter offered my kids some yummy suggestions (since there is no kids menu) and they cleaned their plates. The wine list was very well priced. The mark up on the bottle of Dom that we ordered was only $30!!! We spent half as much here than at other places and had better food! This place is a place you should try!!"

  • "I picked Annunciation based solely on the menu I saw on Opentable. Man, were we pleasantly surprised! The food was fantastic! The waiter convinced my wife to try the pork shoulder ( normally, she is all seafood in N. O.). She really enjoyed it! The pork just had the hint of jalapeño - it wasn't overpowering. My veal was perfect - fork tender. The crawfish and sauce lent a nice touch, and the stuffing was amazing. Evidence was great. Our waiter was very helpful with a wine selection, and then with recommendations to go pair with it. We will be back the next time we go to N. O."

  • "It was our first time dining at Annunciation. The bar was very noisy but we were seated toward the front. There was a huge crowd of young professionals up stairs and yet the chef was able to put out great food in a timely manner. As the restaurant filled the noise level became really unacceptable. I do not think I would want to return unless I knew some sort of sound cushioning had been done. I`m surprised that something has not been done about the noise since the maitra'd and the waiter and other diners all commented about the noise being off the charts."

  • "Food was great. Service was good. Will definately go back. Not sure why people were saying it was loud in other reviews. The atmosphere was nice and casual"

  • "The maitre d' was the highlight of our night. It was quite lovely, and unfortunately rare, to be greeted by such a professional. It really set the bar high for our expectations of food & service to come. Our server Soleil was good but got wrapped up in an 8-top, so sadly service for us took a little downturn halfway through. The food was solid; oysters w/ melted brie didn't live up to the hype, but fried green tomatoes with crab & pepper Hollandaise was fantastic and the budino for dessert was sublime. Also, as the restaurant filled (just more than half full when we left) it got impossibly loud; not sure why they haven't installed noise-absorbing foam or anything under the tables. Oh! Try the Uptown cocktail. Delicious and unexpected. "

  • "We enjoy the consistency of the food and service. Also, the atmosphere is very nice. Since we live in the French Quarter and drive to the restaurant, the valet parking makes it quite convenient."

  • "Annunciation is never a let down. It's a great place for a first date, a first drink, or a meal with friends you've known forever. And the food is amazing. One thing that could've been better was our service. We barely saw our waiter. Nothing is worse than having an empty wine glass at dinner!"

  • "Annunciation was a terrific dining experience! I ordered the Kobe steak, perfect! My guests had the Drum and Trout special. All were very pleased with the meal. Great service and cool interior ambiance. Will definitely be back!"

  • "I had heard about this restaurant but hadn't gone till a business associate was on town. Great way to show off New Orleans cuisine in a very hip space. Food was delicious and service good. Go"

  • "Fantastic, diverse menu. The spaghettini with fries oysters was divine, as was the oysters Rockefeller. And the sweet breads. But it was VERY hard to enjoy our time because it was so extraordinarily loud. We had a table of only 4 but could barely speak to the person next to us, which was very frustrating as it was a celebratory dinner. I has seen the previous comment to this issue, but was hopeful. I'm now hoping the owners will realize this is a real problem and work in the acoustics so we can come back. Great food but couldn't do it again...unless the problem is addressed. "

  • "This was our first time dining at this restaurant. We have visitors in town fairly frequently who stay in the warehouse district and have patronized Tommy's Cuisine (a restaurant we enjoy as well). We wanted to try something different and some friends had recommended Annunciation. From the time we arrived to the time we left our experience was exceptional, from the maitre'd's attention to our servers and of couse the food, which was outstanding. We will definitely patronize again and add Annunciation into our warehouse district restaurant rotation. "

  • "The food at this restaurant was great, and the service and ambiance were outstanding, however we nearly gawked when receiving the bill. I had expected it to be high for an upscale restaurant, but it was much higher than anticipated. Great restaurant, just be prepared to pay for it. "

  • "First it was extremely loud upstairs. I mean, really loud. It could have just been a coincidence of having a loud party up there. Don't know, but it was not pleasant and the management, perhaps, should have recognized that it was not a pleasant eating environment. The service was not great because it took forever between the apps and the entree. Way too much time between the courses. Then the entrees did not come out all at once which is awkward and distracting and annoying to all at the table. On the positive side, the food was very good. I got the trout special and it was cooked perfectly and delicious."

  • "Celebrated my wife's birthday last night and we now have a new favorite restaurant in NOLA. The food, the drinks, the staff, the ambiance, was stellar. It truly was the perfect way to mark a birthday (or any occasion for that matter)."

  • "The food was prepared with care and featured delicious flavors. It's too bad that the noise level is so high that it is impossible to converse without shouting. There is really no excuse for this. We will not return for just one reason: too loud. I hope the management takes note and does something to lower the din"

  • "This was a great find. Our first time here. Food was excellent, oysters with Brie and fried green tomatoes were a great appetizers. Bison steak (off menu) was amazing and the menu had great options for all types of appetites and tastes. Our whole group enjoyed the meal and corkage fee wasn't too steep either for BYOW. We plan on going back again next year when were in town."

  • "Great traditional fare and the bread oh that bread, very accommodating staff we were very graciously sat at the bar because our local playoff BBall game was airing during dinner we were made to feel this was a daily occurrence "

  • " From the monument you pull up you immediately feel that warm southern hospitality from the valet and host. Our waiter "Beej" was willing to explain the menu to us without being snooty. Fried Oysters with brie and spinach are a must try item. Shrimp Romoulade had a spicy pink sauce over a salad of greens- so good. The fresh catch of the day- trout with a light crisp seasoning -wonderful. The "hanger steak" a full flavored cut with potatoes or the Buffalo steak perfectly prepared-both satisfy the steak and potatoes appetite. A NOLA classic, crawfish ettouffe -very good. Overall this restaurant was just what we were looking for- a taste of New Orleans in a beautiful upscale restaurant with fabulous service and a great atmosphere! "

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The oysters with brie were wonderful, but my husband loved the Budino for dessert. It was a caramel flan with salt crystals. He has raved about it no matter where else we had dinner while in the Big Easy. "

  • "We were anticipating a good meal based on a Fitzmorris review. We gravitated to the specials and were pleased. I ordered the Bison and would definitely order it again. They offered Sheepshead which is a very tasty fish but hard to filet so you don't see it often in restaurants. The diner who ordered it was very happy. The decor was modern but the building is old, which we liked. The staff were helpful and engaging. On one of my next trips to New Orleans from bayou country, we will revisit this fine dining establishment."

  • "The first time I went here I thought the food was exceptional. This time not so much. The turtle soup had too much of a tomato taste. The spaghetti bordelaise with fried oysters was not very flavorful. The oysters were fried perfectly. "

  • "Late dinner after Jazzfest. Place was busy & high energy. Our server-Lee-was blasé & aloof. He totally missed on the wine we got. Food is not as good as Clancy's. Étouffée tasted like crab boil; nothing like your momma's. Soft shell crab was great. Do not get this server. "
