Diner Reviews
  • "Tried the summerlicious menu and both the food and the service were really good. Fresh ingredients, beautifully presented, rich flavours."

  • "Beautiful atmosphere, romantic and the food was incredible!"

  • "This was a return trip after Winterlicious 2013 and was delighted that the favourable memories held up. The service was great - very friendly waiter, and the food was very tasty. The dining area was very comfortable, elegant and intimate. Started off with some very tasty scallops for the appetizer, followed by a steak done to order (medium rare) and finished with delicious green tea creme brulee. The meal was followed with complimentary Annona chocolates ... very rich and yummy!"

  • "group of 3 people ordered all different kinds of Steak from Rare to well done. however, we all got exactly same well done steaks..."

  • "First time we had such terrible service. Luckily, the manager on duty was not only aware, but quick to adjust the situation which improved after he handled it (he also assisted with serving for the remainder of our visit). Food, as always was outstanding. Nice ambience, except for the surly waitress who started off treating us with complete disdain, perhaps because we didn't have a male in the party. Usually, we are able to rate everything outstanding, so other patrons shouldn't judge the entire restaurant based on our poor experience with a particular server, especially as the manager went to such lengths to repair the situation. The food is always fabulous and the choices/recommendations made by knowledgeable staff are reliable."

  • "we enjoyed a special lunch out. great to have options of trout with peppers and steak so everyone is happy. corn soup , kale salad options."

  • "For the quality of the food we got for the price (20$) per person, this was an amazing deal. I had the salad, steak, and lemon meringue tart. All three were great for the price paid."

  • "The starter seared scallops was quite good but the sirloin came out a bit overcooked and the meat itself was very chewy. Wine was served in a small dessert wine glass. Service was a mess. Had to wait most of the times. Server asked us to go to front desk for credit card payments. Never heard of that before. All in all, did not expect this kind of food quality and service level at a downtown prestige hotel."

  • "Elegant quiet room looking out onto Avenue Road. Soup appetizer (needed to add salt and pepper) was good. Roasted tomato and goat cheese appetizer and the kale salad were ordinary and disappointing. The trout main was very tasty. The steak was cut with the grain and was tough. It was not eaten. The waiter wanted to pack it up but my friend said she didn't like it and didn't eat it here so there was no point in taking it home. The waiter returned with a box to pack it up. We were stunned. Then, he decided he would take it off the bill. The chocolate lava cake and ice cream (in a delicious burnt sugar? basket) dessert was a winner. Coffee ($5.00) was good but very strong. No refills offered."

  • "The service was great. The waiter came by frequently to ask how things were and was very polity. The food and dessert were very good, even for a summerlicious menu. I was stuffed but the little treats with the little 2 bite treats that came with the bill added just the right touch."

  • "As a hotel restaurant in the heart of Yorkville, where there are great restaurants everywhere, I hadn't expected anything special from the food. What a pleasant surprise! It was innovative and delicious. Yet, for the quality of the food, the restaurant appears a little stolid in the decor and the visual stuffiness was inconsistent with the level of noise in the restaurant. The noise really was greater than it should have been (even taking into consideration that the place was packed). The service was pleasant but those serving looked similarly tired to the decor. Still, all in all, we had a great lunch. I will go back when Summerlicious is over."

  • "Service was not great, but was warned ahead of time from friends who had been. Arrived, and waited a while being being acknowledged even though staff saw me waiting. Had a reservation on Open Table, and the hostess did not even ask anything. Went only because we heard the food was good, certain dishes in particular. Very tired looking décor and lacked ambiance, and the wait staff was not very friendly at all. Asked the server what dishes he recommended or what was most popular on the Summerlicious menu, and he was of no help/use. Would not rush back there."

  • "We invited clients to Summerlicious and had an amazing experience. The food was outstanding. I love Summerlicious and Winterlicious because the portions are small enough to have a three course meal for lunch. I wish that was available all the time. I highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "Had the Summerlicious prix fixe menu. Mushroom soup delicious - rich and tasty with the right amount of zestiness. 6 oz. sirloin was cooked to order (medium rare) but was tough. My companion had the flat iron steak sald, which she said was delicious. I tasted a piece of the steak - it was more tender than mine. Chocolate dessert was tasty and well-presented. Decent list of wines by the glass, but they are pricey. Tables tend to be close together - don't go if you want privacy. All in all, a pleasant dining experience but costly for a lunch."

  • "The food was decently good. The appetizers were quite spectacular which got my hopes up but I have to say that the main entree was not as delicious. The service was great and they were willing to cook my guest another steak after she mentioned that it was not tender enough. Overall, Annona had good service which matched the food."

  • "The location is convenient if you are staying at the hotel. Although the food was decent, it was not the best. I would not necessarily return to this restaurant. The head waiter was also rude, which did not make for the best experience."

  • "Dined in for summerlicious. Food is edible but nothing special. Our server was unfriendly. Would not recommend."

  • "The service was great, waiters were polite and friendly. The food was okay.. The steak was a little too dry. The wait time for food was acceptable."

  • "everything about this place was just perfect - the food, the service.... Hands down, one of the best places I have ever been. I would definately return and recommend."

  • "The menu itself is great - both I and my guest chose from the summerlicious menu. The service wasn't that great, as our server didn't check up on us that much although he was friendly. The food was good too, however when it got to the table it didn't feel hot, as if it sat at the pass too long. The wine list is impeccable and extensive with any wine you can imagine. Overall good experience."

  • "Strong fish odour in dining room (special was fish, but whole restaurant reeked like kitchen). Staff friendly enough, which was the one compliment I can make about this place. Drinks overpriced but not surprising given venue ($17 cocktail). But wine list was ridiculous, several lower quality bottle that retail for $15 were being offered at $75-$100. Mostly non-LCBO, guess they were hoping customers wouldn't know. A wine we often buy at LCBO for $40 was $300. Will always be markup, but standard is about 2.5 times retail, this was offensive. Menu was disappointing too, so we ended up checking open table for other options nearby, found several, and finished our drinks and left. Saturday evening and the place was empty -- now I know why. "

  • "My husband and I had dinner at Annona for the first time on a recent trip to Toronto. The dining room was quiet and soft music played in the background so that we could talk and easily hear each other - so relaxing! I ordered a delicious kale salad tossed with tangerine slices and oyster mushrooms that had been sautéed in sesame oil. This was followed by the seafood risotto which was creamy, rich and had large chunks of shrimp and lobster.....my mouth is watering just thinking about the flavors. I ordered the risotto in the smaller size and still wasn't able to finish it because the portion was substantial, besides, I had to allow room for dessert! We ended the evening with the coconut cake, a latte and a stroll through Yorkville."

  • "I think there was a miscommunication between the restaurant manager Noel and the server. Noel was extremely accommodating with respect to the dietary request I had made at the time the reservation was confirmed. The request was to substitute one person's portion of the smoked salmon pinwheel and tuna tartlet with a chicken or vegetable alternative. However, the server did not know about this substitution when we explained TWICE after seeing that the request was not met. Then when he went to make the substitution, we assumed he understood our request. He returned with the alternatives as requested BUT he also substituted the shrimp cone. They also ran out of mini red velvet cupcake. We were disappointed with the server's confusion. "

  • "Loved the option to pick the size of your protein (e.g. Fish 3.5 oz/7 oz, filet 4 oz/8oz, etc) and one of at least six accompanying sauces, and then select two sides. You end up with a delicious, equally gourmet meal as the other fixed menu options. I had the halibut with asparagus and beets and citrus salsa sauce. The fish was flaky and light with a crispy sear atop the asparagus and all surrounded by beets and a mini cup of the salsa on the edge of the plate. My husband had the best filet (off the regular menu) he had in all our nights at restaurants topping steakhouses. We finished with a fruit gateau, strawberry and rhubarb in an almond cake served with homemade vanilla bean ice cream. Delightfully defeated my small portion. Worth it! "

  • "I wasn't too impressed with the quality of food that was served for the special mother's day afternoon tea. The special menu was about $10 more than the normal menu, so I had expected better food. The macarons that were served was made by a beginning pastry chef. It was hard, hollow and tasted like nothing but sugar."

  • "There was such confusion about our reservation. Phone calls, emails etc. in the end it wasn't crowded but hotel insisted on my credit card number and then never confirmed my reservation. The brunch itself was incredibly expensive , far too expensive but partly our fault as it was way too much food at one sitting"

  • "Situated beneath the South tower of Toronto's posh Park Hyatt, Annona is as good for romantics as it is for the single guest needing a proper meal. Olive focaccia bread is tasty, filet mignon on a ed of spinach and blue cheese gnocci hearty & tender, veggie curry on basmati rice delicious and spicy, bitter green salad a perfect starter...very pleased with the room, the wine selections, the service, and the extra candy treats when I couldn't decide on a dessert. Stayed at the Park and glad I experienced Annona at a table, as it's a room I'm now recommending anyone in Toronto eat at, regardless."
