  • "We were looking for another restaurant when we happened by Annabelle's. The neighbourhood is a definite mix of professional meets tourist meets "street life". The facade is deceiving and many in our group said they would have overlooked the place walking by. The menu is limited but the food is well prepared and presented. The staff is a bit under informed, more trendy vibe than professional service , but definitely attentive."

  • "When it comes to staff, Annabelle's is running on all engines. Top quality all the way. The atmosphere was more grand than its location would have you imagine. The food however was lacking. For a 28 dollars, you should beable to get a good cut of meat on your plate. Mine should never have been put on the grill to begin with. It was a lump of fat. There is a difference between proper marbling and just a bad cut. They should be more conscious of this going forward. There were only 3 good bites on the whole thing. I would still definitely go back. I had a great experience. I'll try something else next time."

The staff was very in tune with what the table needed. We were glad that we booked an early table, as the place filled quickly at noon."

On our latest visit for more than a dozen prior, the only note of concern was that all of the female staff were gone. Not clear what this might indicate."

  • "Found this restaurant on Open Table, across the street from our hotel (Marriott Marquis). Easy to get reservation, yet restaurant was very busy when we arrived. Server was super friendly & professional, but service was a bit spotty, waiting at times for what seemed like quite a while to see the server again. Food was very good! Cioppino, a salad with grilled prawns & pasta with Italian sausage & veggies - we all enjoyed our dishes. We went for dessert & were not disappointed. Sea salt caramel pudding & espresso gelato, plus an Irish coffee were all excellent! Convenience, overall meal quality & general friendliness of Annabelle's staff would make us come back again when we visit SFO. "

  • "Annabelle's is great when you need to attend a performance nearby - you can be in and out w/in an hour. The menu is reliable, the service friendly, and the noise level in the dining room is moderate so that one can carry on a conversation. What is particularly welcome is that some of the servers stay. In an industry where employee longevity is non-existent, it's nice to see familiar faces over the years - a sign the restaurant treats its employees well. We will definitely return when we have another event in the neighborhood."

  • "I've considered it one of my "secret places" in the city for years, always good for lunch when downtown or an afternoon cocktail on weekends; yet I'd never been to the actual restaurant. Now that I have, I won't again. The food was great, but the service was completely absent. Our server came by after a short wait and took our drink orders. When he returned with our cocktails, he took our meal orders, and we never saw him again. Well, that is an exaggeration. I could see him standing at the end of the bar, idly chatting with the host and bartenders while the kitchen staff brought us our food. My cocktail sat empty for the duration. I had to ask another server to get him so he could deliver our check. He'll remember me. I left him my $0.02"

Our waiter, Bruce, was extremely kind and patient with us, and made excellent wine suggestions. We were a little disappointed in the Moscow Mules, but The Other Olivia was a fantastic cocktail.   • "We originally had reservations for 10, but had two additions when we walked in. The hostess said no problem and quickly added the extra seats and we were seated within a couple of minutes. Our party included people from the East Coast, Texas and LA. They all raved about the food. The bacon wrapped prawns and mac and cheese were instant hits. Our waitress, I can't remember her name, was great...even plugging in a couple of cell phones in the back. Everyone love the restaurant, food and service. Thank you!"

  • "My friends and I were catching a show at Yerba Buena, and Annabelle's offered the perfect place to grab a bite to eat before the show. However, the GDC was going on at Moscone Center, and the place was a mad house. The noise level was almost unbearable on the bar side although it was slightly better in the dining section. The food was fine, but nothing memorable and pedestrian. We had rotisserie chicken, pizza and a burger with some salad. A sweet potato bisque was the best dish. Our server was pleasant and helpful."

  • "So I'll start by saying I like Annabelle's. I've eaten here at least 7-8 times. It was always a great place. I'm not sure if my recent visit was a fluke, but: 1. My mahi-mahi was not done correctly. The fish was raw in the middle and the sauce on the plate was cold. We asked a waiter to heat it more (ours didn't even check to see if things were ok) The waiter saw ours and told him. 2. Our waiter DID NOT COME BACK TO CHECK. He didn't drop off the reheated fish, he didn't come back to ask if it was okay, he didn't apologize. I've worked as a server before, so I understand it's rough. But when there's a mistake like this made, you APOLOGIZE to the guest I'll definitely have to think on if I'd come back again. Really, really unfortunate."

  • "Whether you are going to dinner, meeting friends or just want to hang out at a bar Annabelles fits the bill. Good specialty cocktails; the Brooklyn and Angel's kiss Manhattan are my 2 favs. Hand made pastas and pizzas. Great entrees. Water service is perfect. Someone is re-filling your glass after you drink a third. Waiter stops by after a few minutes to check in snd see if the meat is cooked as ordered, is the food hot enough, did you get the sides you ordered etc. a great spot. Would definitely eat there again and recommend to other people."

  • "Had lunch on Friday - had Crab Louis salad special. I very much like Annabelle's. Their Bouillibaise is fantastic. Little disappointed in the Crab Louis salad highly recommended by our server. So much dressing on the crab that you couldn't taste the crab. We got their last two orders of it so maybe a lot of crab was dressed at the same time so the crab on our salads was at the bottom, swimming in dressing, that being said, this will not deter me from going to Annabelle's. It's a great place and I highly recommend."

  • "My partner and I have been enjoying Annabelle's whenever we can, since moving to SOMA last year. This weekend, we chose to return for our special occasion dinner. Katy is a vibrant and personal server who remembers our favorite drink orders and enjoys recommending the specials too.There's a new chef with new entree's that are outstanding. Baby back ribs,shrimp with bacon and tasty salads too to name a few. Wyatt is the kind of front manager that everyone should strive to be. He is open,friendly and courteous at every encounter. Tonight he went above and beyond by providing us with celebratory champaigne. The atmosphere is warm and inviting with a window table view of the city street scenes that adds to the local charm of the downtown area."

The first visit was a delightful surprise; while I expected a typical tourist response (poor service, bad attitude, marginal food quality), we had a quality experience. The bartender was so delightful that I wrote a fabulous review on *another* review service (yelp). So we went back. Negative staff attitude, limited interest in actually serving customers, but a big interest in drinking themselves. Your staff sitting in the front wearing uniforms while drinking manhattans and taking selfies does not add to the ambiance.The food was still good, but waiting 20 minutes in a bar to get a beer is not excusable. On to better things."

  • "I was traveling in San Fran for a tradeshow and we were looking for a place to get good "American" food. I was there with two other people and we all had different hamburgers which were all wonderful. The biggest surprise though was the tomato Bisque that I had for an appetizer. This soup was absolutely awesome. It was the perfect mixture of tomato soup, cheese and whatever else they use to make it a bisque. It was phenomenal, so good in fact, that we went back two days later for lunch and had the soup again!"

  • "Conveniently located across Marriott Marquis, I chose it to meet a friend who was in town for a conference and staying there. Not bad, but definitely not great. We arrived about 20 min early (6:40 with a 7:00 pm reservation). Many empty tables, but ours was 'not ready'. The service was also just ok, but just not great. The calamari as appetizer to share where again just ok, nothing special. I tried the vegetarian lasagna (although the have a different name for it, that is what the waiter described it like). If it had not been way too salty, it could have been a great entree. Altogether, not worthwhile coming back to."

  • "My partner and I have been dining at Annabelle's as often as we can over the past year since moving to the city. We are always greeted promptly and graciously. The service meets our every request.The manager now recognizes us and makes sure everything is up to our expectations. There is a new chef on board who has managed to improve an already diverse and delicious variety of options. The drinks , dinner and desert never fail to please."
