My only complaint is with the service. Several days after I made my reservation I received a call to confirm my reservation and to call back within 2 hours or my reservation would be given to another party. I didn't think that was necessary. I got there a few minutes before the rest of my party and the bar was full. I asked if it would be possible to be seated at our reserved table. I am a senior and I was told I had to wait for the rest of my party. There was hardly anyone seated in the dining room. When we were seated every thing else was fine. But step inside and it's a very pleasant place with an appealing menu and surroundings. Although the restaurant was fully booked, our group of four was able to talk and actually hear each other. Service was cordial and efficient and the dishes we had were tasty. Salads were great-looking and perfectly dressed. Loved the arancini - savory little rice balls filled with burrata. A special of root vegetables was delicious. Everything we had was a dish I'd order again except for the cornmeal-dusted calamari fritto, which were not bad, but not as light and tender as one might hope. This is a true bistro, loud and energetic atmosphere. Great drinks. Try the bananas foster bread pudding for dessert. It was outrageously good! Not pretentious, just great imaginative food in soothing yet festive atmosphere. I had the grilled asparagus salad the English short-rib, both of which were outstanding. My girlfriend had the tomato soup and the grilled salmon, which she liked very much. One of the great things about Annabelle's is the imaginative use of ingredients that one might not think of using. The asparagus salad used green olives as one of the ingredients, which added a distinctive, yet harmonious flavor to the dish. The bar is separate from the dining room and is quite energetic. The presentation and accoutrements were lovely. My friend and I ordered Halibut which was fresh and delicious. Again the plate was dressed beautiful and delicious. To me it's kinda pricey ... but worth it for a 'fancy' meal. The other part of Annabella's is a comfortable bar. It's low key, not overly loud, and a great place to stop with friends after work for a beer. Casual, and reasonable prices. The service for meals is stellar, the bartenders always friendly. We told put waiter that we needed to be done by 630 since we had an event at 7. They where so good about getting us in and out. We were pleased that we could get a last minute reservation via Open Table. Our waiter was appropriately attentive and (bonus!) informed about gluten issues. Our food was delicious and the atmosphere was conducive to good conversation (not too noisy). I had the Ahi Tuna Nicoise and my friend had the Pastrami sandwich. We both quaffed a Belgian ale. Although it stated on the OpenTable app that the place was $$$, we found it to be more like $$.
Overall, I'd go back for sure next time I'm in town. I'm always attracted to "bistros". Although the bar area was lively, our reserved table was ready when we arrived. The mixed greens with goat cheese and blood orange sections was fresh and tasty and the bacon-wrapped shrimp with chipotle cream delicious. For appetizers, these were generous portions.
