Not pretentious, just great imaginative food in soothing yet festive atmosphere. I had the grilled asparagus salad the English short-rib, both of which were outstanding. My girlfriend had the tomato soup and the grilled salmon, which she liked very much. One of the great things about Annabelle's is the imaginative use of ingredients that one might not think of using. The asparagus salad used green olives as one of the ingredients, which added a distinctive, yet harmonious flavor to the dish. The bar is separate from the dining room and is quite energetic. To me it's kinda pricey ... but worth it for a 'fancy' meal. The other part of Annabella's is a comfortable bar. It's low key, not overly loud, and a great place to stop with friends after work for a beer. Casual, and reasonable prices. The service for meals is stellar, the bartenders always friendly. We told put waiter that we needed to be done by 630 since we had an event at 7. They where so good about getting us in and out. We were pleased that we could get a last minute reservation via Open Table. Our waiter was appropriately attentive and (bonus!) informed about gluten issues. Our food was delicious and the atmosphere was conducive to good conversation (not too noisy). I had the Ahi Tuna Nicoise and my friend had the Pastrami sandwich. We both quaffed a Belgian ale. Although it stated on the OpenTable app that the place was $$$, we found it to be more like $$.
Overall, I'd go back for sure next time I'm in town. I'm always attracted to "bistros".
