A word from Anis Cafe and Bistro
Tucked away in a sleepy side street in the heart of Buckhead, Anis is located in a converted house that has been renovated to look and feel like one of many little charming restaurants that you are likely to find in the Provence region in the south of France.

The menu is deeply rooted in the ingredients and aromas that give dishes from the French Mediterranean region their unique flavors.

Anis is comprised of an inside dining room and an outside patio area that is available for seating year round, and a charming little bar where you may enjoy a meal if you wish.

Widely known as one of the most romantic dining spots in the city, Anis is a great place to meet up with friends and can cater to large parties with ease.

Reservations are accepted and encouraged.

Join us for live Brazilian jazz on Thursday and Friday evenings.

Diner Reviews
  • "The room was decorated with mismatched furniture that some would describe as quaint. The tables were much too close together making conversation almost impossible. When the room filled the service slowed to a snail's pace. We waited over 15 minutes to receive our check. The wine list was ok with many decent wines priced in the $40s."

  • "Both lovely and edgy, this place beats almost any restaurant in Atlanta for unique dishes and expert service. A must for foodies and lovers..."

  • "We arrived right on time and were seated immediately. We knew we wanted mussels to start and our server suggested a wine to accompany them. She brought a glass with enough for both of us to taste. Within moments, the mussels arrived. For the next 20 minutes, she never approached our table-even after we asked another server to fetch her. The mussels, a dish we frequently enjoy at Anis, were awful with a moldy taste and the texture of rubber bands. When I spotted our server at another table, I walked to her and asked for our check. To her credit, she then came to our table, apologized, and told us that we need not pay for the mussels. I'm confident that our experience was atypical at a very good restaurant. We had a nice dinner at Basil."

  • "This was my third time at Anis but the first time for my husband and daughter (visiting). We all loved the food, the eclectic atmosphere and the service. Some of the best service we have experienced. This will stay on my list as a favorite."

  • "Anis is one of our favorite restaurants but was a little disappointing this time. Service was excellent as usual but the food was not up to their usual standard. The mussels were small and fishy and I thought the Lupe de Mer was really unattractive and not that good. We certainly will go again and am confident it will be better."

  • "Surprised that we weren't aware this restaurant has been around for 20 yrs. The duck breast and mahi were wonderful, and enjoyed the escargot also. The wine list was adequate, but with a more interesting selection that most (question the markups). Wine knowledge among the staff much above average (ask for Jeremy). Service was attentive but not overbearing. You'll like this place."

  • "Anis Café has a lovely patio - perfect for when you want to dine al fresco. I just wish the food measured up. It's not bad, just not as good as most other Atlanta restaurant's in it's class. I ordered the trout and it was fresh but came with canned artichoke hearts. The wine list is a joke - extremely overpriced and really nothing decent by the glass (we tried 4)."

  • "Anis is our little neighborhood gem. We go there often and are never disappointed. The moules frites are as good as any I've had in France and the Loup de Mer special this week was truly delicious."

  • "This time we shared Anis with friends who have never been before. They now understand why we love going back again and again. Thanks for another great evening!"

  • "When we have guests from out of town, we seem to return to Anis because of its charm, good food and atmosphere, and this was no different. Our guests were impressed by this neighborhood gem, tucked away in a residential-turned-commercial neighborhood. The food was great; the service, too and we all had a great time."

  • "Fabulous food. Loved it. The mussels are to die for. Wonderful romantic place."

  • "I have not been to Anis in many years. We were in the area for an event and needed a quieter place to have dinner (other than the mega Buckhead restaurants) because we were with older friends. The seafood we all ordered was perfection and the service was gracious and attentive. We felt well taken care of and the corner table they gave us was perfect in their indoor / outdoor space. In conclusion, Anis is great place and some of the better seafood I have had in Atlanta."

  • "Great service and excellent attention and music was awesome."

  • "Great food. Very good service. However, rainstorm kept bouncing off floor bricks at edge of canopy and dousing my legs since we were seated at the outer edge. We kept moving our table over, but my legs still got wet. Nevertheless, this remains one of our favorite restaurants."

  • "Recommended by a dear friend, I took an out of town visitor to give her the flavor of Buckhead with out overdoing it. Mean great and service fantastic."

  • "We enjoy Anis and look forward to dining outdoors. The food was outstanding as usual."

  • "I went here with my boyfriend recently for my birthday - the restaurant is charming, the live music was wonderful, and the french doors that open the interior of the restaurant to the exterior were perfect. Even sitting inside, we still felt part of the energy of the patio area, while still being able to have a somewhat intimate candle-lit dinner. My only qualm with the place was that our table was WAY too close to neighboring tables, it was a little awkward to still be able to here details of the other table's conversation in a place a little on the noisy side (that's how close!). Food was divine, I had chicken and my boyfriend had duck with sweet potato gnocchi - all was fabulous. I am still dreaming of the cranberry mimosa sorbet!"

  • "So happy to have found this wonderful little French cafe nestled in the neighborhood jus slightlyt off Peachtree in Atlanta's Buckhead area. The ambiance was fabulous and the food delectible. The staff was friendly and well-trained. We had a totally great dining experience. I wholeheartedly recommend this place."

  • "Ambiance; simple yet interesting menu; multiple flavor combinations; really fresh produce and fish. You are not going to be wrong, here. Especially for lunch."

  • "Our waiter was inattentive, did not come to check our satisfaction with meal or needs, required hand waving etc to get him or anyone to come to our table, - The couple sitting on adjoining Table had similar experience -actually had to get up and walk around to find waiter. . This experience occured during a late Sunday brunch , so the room was not busy. , We noticed our bill did not include a charge for wine, which we pointed out to waiter, - he made the correction without even so much as a "Thank you " - The male members of the waitstaff seem to have a rather chippy attitude which should be dealt with by management"

  • "My husband and I tried dinner at Anis after reading about it online. We made a reservation on Open Table and were seated very quickly. Our server was very informative about different types of wines and we ended up with a very nice bottle of red to go with our meal. My husband had the beef and I had the tuna special and they were both fantastic. The atmosphere was vibrant and alive and we enjoyed the music outside. Definitely returning to this spot!!"

  • "We enjoyed the outdoor seating and environment. The mussels were excellent as was the bread that we could use to dip in the rich sauce. I thought the tortellini with beef short rib was definitely good but I might experiment with something else on the menu. The waiter could've been more attentive but overall it was a very good dining experience."

  • "Our dinner at Anis was amazing. It is our 3rd time there now and we have enjoyed it more each time. Jeff Gomez made the night really special for us with a special dessert assortment and he came and chatted with us at our table. We shared 3 dishes among four of us and the variety was delicious. "

  • "Our second visit. The food was good, but the service was not as good as before. Too hot in the dining area outside, even with the ceiling fans. We will return...at night."

  • "we were in the area so we decided to try their new lunch menu and to be honest it was good. The scene and atmosphere was chill and fresh. "

  • "No doubt the wine list is up to par. Both raw fish were really good. The duck "confit" was not: it was barely "confit". Fantastic dessert. While initial service was a bit slow it became very attentive after. Not sure that we will ever be back!"

  • "I was disappointed and felt cheated. We chose Anis among the many Buckhead Restaurant Week choices to dine at last Saturday night, 5/17/14. After settling into our seats and receiving a regular menu, we requested the BRW menu. The waiter said "That's only for lunch." I remembered clicking on the "Dinner" tab when making the reservation on Open Table. We should have left then; but, being hungry and settled, we stayed and ordered off the regular menu. When I got home, I verified that the only choice for Anis was "Dinner". Was the waiter misinformed? Was he told to say that? We would have spent more money on the BRW menu. I will be less likely to return to Anis. "

  • "We enjoy Anis, not only for the food, but for the atmosphere. The service is usually good, but our waiter on our last visit was slightly snotty, especially when we mispronounced a couple of the French words on the menu. We have never felt this way in the past, so hopefully, he was just not having a good night. The food is always good and reasonably priced. We will definitely return and we always recommend Anis to our friends."
