A word from Anis Cafe and Bistro
Tucked away in a sleepy side street in the heart of Buckhead, Anis is located in a converted house that has been renovated to look and feel like one of many little charming restaurants that you are likely to find in the Provence region in the south of France.

The menu is deeply rooted in the ingredients and aromas that give dishes from the French Mediterranean region their unique flavors.

Anis is comprised of an inside dining room and an outside patio area that is available for seating year round, and a charming little bar where you may enjoy a meal if you wish.

Widely known as one of the most romantic dining spots in the city, Anis is a great place to meet up with friends and can cater to large parties with ease.

Reservations are accepted and encouraged.

Join us for live Brazilian jazz on Thursday and Friday evenings.

Diner Reviews
  • "Anis is an outstanding French bistro. Best mussels ever! along with an amazing choice of delicious main courses. Authentic French cuisine."

  • "Another great meal, great time at Anis! We love this neighborhood hidden gem, especially for a special occasion. Vibrant scene yet quiet enough to enjoy one another and a fine meal. Very consistent, great service."

  • "A favorite spot for meeting business friends. Menu keeps some delicious standards but also introduces new delights and there are plenty of healthy salad options. Crab salad sandwich on brioche this week was excellent. The challenge of lunch at Anis is choosing which plat to order. The patio is an oasis in Buckhead and the people watching is part of the fun. Prices are extremely reasonable."

  • "The whole experience was wonderful, and the swordfish was the best I have ever had! The service was excellent and personal--a very pleasant evening altogether. Thank you."

  • "Enjoyed the food and atmosphere. We had a seat inside but their outside seatings look also pretty. It was a little too noisy due to a group of several people staffing around the table near our seat. Food was good. Not superb. Octopus salad was fresh and yummy. Shortrib was it favorite of the night. Recommended! I'll come back to try other dishes and their wine list."

  • "When you get the urge for authentic French bistro cuisine, Anis fits the bill. Lunch is perfect at this restaurant from the Salad Nicoise to the Pom frites, it hits all the right notes."

  • "Anis is always a good meal, nice wine. a cool, funky place. It is easy to get too for Buckhead folks. Mussels are great and most everything else. Service is always correctly done.."

  • "The food, wine, and atmosphere at Anis always transport me back to the French countryside. Parfait!"

  • "We love your restaurant and its a regular in our rotation, but there were two things that were very disappointing at our last meal that I feel compelled to report. The bread was mediocre and the bread pudding dried out and tasteless. Everything else was great so it didn't ruin the meal but it was bad enough for me to take the time to report it to you. The waitress really didn't handle the situation very well either. First she tells us that they usually bring the crusty bread instead of the hard tasteless rolls with the mussels after we've finished our mussels with the rolls. She should have noticed that someone brought the lousy bread. Secondly, she didn't even ask about the dessert even though I took 2 bites and left the rest for pigeons"

  • "Always makes me happy to dine at Anis. One of my favorite restaurants in Atlanta and in the neighborhood"

  • " Went out for a girl's night. Really cool ambiance. Our waitress was adorable and knowledgeable (the one with the purple hair). I would love to go back sometime with my hubby!"

  • "We've eaten at Anis several times and the food has been consistently superb and the service excellent. We like the relaxed and genuinely French ambiance."

  • "We love Anis and usually celebrate my Birthday "July 14th" at Anis. Since July 14th is Bastille Day in France; Anis always has a celebration on this day. Special menu, Music, and lively atmosphere. We enjoyed the Escargot as an appetizer and the Monk fish special and everything was delicious."
    Dined on 7/14/2014
  • "Filet was tender and nice thick cut. Small. 6 oz. potatoes were average and on dry side. Flour less chocolate cake was horrid. Cute french feel. Simple."
    Dined on 7/12/2014
  • "Very good food, good service but would sit outside next time. It is way too noisy on the inside."
    Dined on 7/12/2014
  • "Everything was wonderful. Loved the red wine choice, and food was inventive and delish. Our waiter was knowledgeable, attentive, friendly. Manager awesome. We won't miss this when in Atlanta, even though there were lots of seen-and-be-seen types around. It made people watching entertaining!"
    Dined on 7/11/2014
  • "Both lovely and edgy, this place beats almost any restaurant in Atlanta for unique dishes and expert service. A must for foodies and lovers..."
    Dined on 7/10/2014
  • "The room was decorated with mismatched furniture that some would describe as quaint. The tables were much too close together making conversation almost impossible. When the room filled the service slowed to a snail's pace. We waited over 15 minutes to receive our check. The wine list was ok with many decent wines priced in the $40s."

  • "Whether it's a "first meet" or catching up after awhile apart, this is a great spot with something for everyone on the menu. Fresh ingredients (including gluten free options) - not pretentious."

  • "We arrived right on time and were seated immediately. We knew we wanted mussels to start and our server suggested a wine to accompany them. She brought a glass with enough for both of us to taste. Within moments, the mussels arrived. For the next 20 minutes, she never approached our table-even after we asked another server to fetch her. The mussels, a dish we frequently enjoy at Anis, were awful with a moldy taste and the texture of rubber bands. When I spotted our server at another table, I walked to her and asked for our check. To her credit, she then came to our table, apologized, and told us that we need not pay for the mussels. I'm confident that our experience was atypical at a very good restaurant. We had a nice dinner at Basil."

  • "I had not dined here for a few years when a friend suggested we go there on July 4 It was a great experience. We sat outside in perfect weather. The table was the best and the food was very good. Will go back soon!"

  • "Anis is one of our favorite restaurants but was a little disappointing this time. Service was excellent as usual but the food was not up to their usual standard. The mussels were small and fishy and I thought the Lupe de Mer was really unattractive and not that good. We certainly will go again and am confident it will be better."
    Dined on 7/2/2014
  • "This was my third time at Anis but the first time for my husband and daughter (visiting). We all loved the food, the eclectic atmosphere and the service. Some of the best service we have experienced. This will stay on my list as a favorite."

  • "Anis Café has a lovely patio - perfect for when you want to dine al fresco. I just wish the food measured up. It's not bad, just not as good as most other Atlanta restaurant's in it's class. I ordered the trout and it was fresh but came with canned artichoke hearts. The wine list is a joke - extremely overpriced and really nothing decent by the glass (we tried 4)."

  • "Anis is our little neighborhood gem. We go there often and are never disappointed. The moules frites are as good as any I've had in France and the Loup de Mer special this week was truly delicious."
    Dined on 6/30/2014
  • "Surprised that we weren't aware this restaurant has been around for 20 yrs. The duck breast and mahi were wonderful, and enjoyed the escargot also. The wine list was adequate, but with a more interesting selection that most (question the markups). Wine knowledge among the staff much above average (ask for Jeremy). Service was attentive but not overbearing. You'll like this place."

  • "This time we shared Anis with friends who have never been before. They now understand why we love going back again and again. Thanks for another great evening!"

  • "When we have guests from out of town, we seem to return to Anis because of its charm, good food and atmosphere, and this was no different. Our guests were impressed by this neighborhood gem, tucked away in a residential-turned-commercial neighborhood. The food was great; the service, too and we all had a great time."

  • "Great food. Very good service. However, rainstorm kept bouncing off floor bricks at edge of canopy and dousing my legs since we were seated at the outer edge. We kept moving our table over, but my legs still got wet. Nevertheless, this remains one of our favorite restaurants."

  • "Recommended by a dear friend, I took an out of town visitor to give her the flavor of Buckhead with out overdoing it. Mean great and service fantastic."

  • "So happy to have found this wonderful little French cafe nestled in the neighborhood jus slightlyt off Peachtree in Atlanta's Buckhead area. The ambiance was fabulous and the food delectible. The staff was friendly and well-trained. We had a totally great dining experience. I wholeheartedly recommend this place."

  • "Ambiance; simple yet interesting menu; multiple flavor combinations; really fresh produce and fish. You are not going to be wrong, here. Especially for lunch."

  • "Our waiter was inattentive, did not come to check our satisfaction with meal or needs, required hand waving etc to get him or anyone to come to our table, - The couple sitting on adjoining Table had similar experience -actually had to get up and walk around to find waiter. . This experience occured during a late Sunday brunch , so the room was not busy. , We noticed our bill did not include a charge for wine, which we pointed out to waiter, - he made the correction without even so much as a "Thank you " - The male members of the waitstaff seem to have a rather chippy attitude which should be dealt with by management"

  • "My husband and I tried dinner at Anis after reading about it online. We made a reservation on Open Table and were seated very quickly. Our server was very informative about different types of wines and we ended up with a very nice bottle of red to go with our meal. My husband had the beef and I had the tuna special and they were both fantastic. The atmosphere was vibrant and alive and we enjoyed the music outside. Definitely returning to this spot!!"

  • "We enjoyed the outdoor seating and environment. The mussels were excellent as was the bread that we could use to dip in the rich sauce. I thought the tortellini with beef short rib was definitely good but I might experiment with something else on the menu. The waiter could've been more attentive but overall it was a very good dining experience."

  • "I have not been to Anis in many years. We were in the area for an event and needed a quieter place to have dinner (other than the mega Buckhead restaurants) because we were with older friends. The seafood we all ordered was perfection and the service was gracious and attentive. We felt well taken care of and the corner table they gave us was perfect in their indoor / outdoor space. In conclusion, Anis is great place and some of the better seafood I have had in Atlanta."
