A word from Anis Cafe and Bistro
Tucked away in a sleepy side street in the heart of Buckhead, Anis is located in a converted house that has been renovated to look and feel like one of many little charming restaurants that you are likely to find in the Provence region in the south of France.

The menu is deeply rooted in the ingredients and aromas that give dishes from the French Mediterranean region their unique flavors.

Anis is comprised of an inside dining room and an outside patio area that is available for seating year round, and a charming little bar where you may enjoy a meal if you wish.

Widely known as one of the most romantic dining spots in the city, Anis is a great place to meet up with friends and can cater to large parties with ease.

Reservations are accepted and encouraged.

Join us for live Brazilian jazz on Thursday and Friday evenings.

Diner Reviews
  • "We took our 19 year old daughter and her roommate to Anis to celebrate 19th birthday. She was thrilled as she loves all things French and this little gem fits that bill in a quiet, lovely way. The staff was outstanding, owner Arnaud even came to the table and wished our daughter a happy birthday, very nice! Our food was outstanding, a wonderful, memorable evening!"

  • "Anis has always been a favorite restaurant; however, there were many glitches this time. First, we were not seated for 30 minutes past our reservations, our waiter was not friendly, our appetizer never showed (comped by owner), wine glasses empty for a long time (noticed by owner and poured), food came cold (had to send back) and then came back warm. The food itself was very good so it appears all of this was human error. I will go back."

  • "Having read other reviews, we went here from out of town and were WOW'ED. It's in a cute old house, and the food is extraordinary, especially the mussels, the free range chicken, and the lamb loin special. Was packed on this Friday night, and likely most nights, and an energetic atmosphere. Great value for the prices, too. Would absolutely return on a future visit to Atlanta."

  • "The food, the unique ambiance, the staff---everything was perfect! We were traveling through Atlanta and a friend recommended Anis for dinner. Who would have known such a gem was to be found in a quiet neighborhood in Buckhead. The decor was fascinating and the staff was so friendly. Best of all, the meal was superb!"

  • "This was our first time at Anis but it won't be the last. Wonderful atmosphere -- nice patio but we sat inside a fun dining room with eclectic paintings on the walls. Tight tables but that didn't bother me at Anis. Wonderfully diverse clientele. The food was excellent -- I'm very picky about mussels but they were first-rate and plentiful. Pate also excellent. My wife really enjoyed the lamb chop special -- it was cooked perfectly -- and my loup de mer was very good, although it was just warm when it came to the table. Small but excellent wine list with very reasonable bottle prices. Service was excellent -- they seemed a bit shorthanded but it did not affect service as every was working hard. Just a delightful meal."

  • "We had 7:30 reservations and as son as we arrived we were seated! We met a couple there for dinner, we sat outside and enjoyed the live music. Our waitress was outstanding and the food was wonderful. We will be back soon."

  • "We recently had two meals at Anis..dinner and Sunday brunch. Both meals were wonderful. Anis features both traditional french dishes and others with a modern twist. The escargot was fantastic with a very nice salmon entree and finished off with mousse chocolate. For brunch we had eggs benedict and an omelet with all my favorite toppings. The croissants with tomato preserves were wonderful. There was alot of energy at dinner along with live music. At brunch the crowd were old friends...obvious that they dined here alot. The staff are very friendly and made us feel at home. We're definitely coming back on our next trip to the city."

  • "I love Anis, but it can be inconsistent sometimes. The service in the bar (while I waited for my guest) was slow - it took a full 10 minutes for me to order a drink! The service in the restaurant was excellent. The food was very good, except that the bread pudding was very dry and did not seem freshly made. Overall, the ambiance of Anis is relaxing but also vibrant. It is an informal place to enjoy dinner, especially outside during summer. The food is usually very good an authentically French. It is one of my favourite places in Atlanta."

  • "Overall a great experience. The only thing I did not like was the size. I had to shimmy and move to the sides of tables just to get to the bathroom...it was tight. I was sat in a small corner for a table designed for two. The courtyard area where I was sat, the floor is cobblestone so the table was unlevel and kept tilting. The waiter was just okay...he kinda forgot about us, maybe because we disappeared in the corner...lol. the food was great! No complaints there."

  • "This is still my favourite French bistro. It's loveliness is not just the food but the service. The servers there are impeccable. You can tell the owners know how to treat their staff!"

  • "It was our first time here and we were delighted with everything about this place! From Preston's honest and open delivery of the menu and drink options to his level of attention throughout our meal, to our gorgeous and delicious salads and the trout which we both ordered and loved, Anis scored and very much earned rave reviews from us. I actually booked the reservation which was our third date. So there was a little bit of pressure going into this. Worked out great. The only fail of the night was the flour less chocolate cake -- but then Preston tried to push us toward the mousse! We'll go with that next time. (Preston - Thanks for crediting us on that. Nice touch.) We will definitely be back, perhaps together. :)"

  • "I was in town for a conference a couple of weeks ago and found Anis after searching online. I ended up eating there three times during the week, each time bringing different colleagues. Everyone loved it. I tried several different dishes over the course of the week (filet mignon, roast chicken, hanger steak) and they were all spectacular, from apps to dessert. Even our group of 8 people didn't faze them, the server was as polite and professional and organized as when it was just me and a friend. Request a table inside; the outside is a bit tent-like but the inside is adorable--very country French. If you're from out of town just hop in a cab and get yourself to Anis. It's worth the trip."

  • "The restaurant was inviting in every way, the staff was knowledgeable regarding the wine list, menu items and specials for the evening. It was great to have the option of sitting on the covered patio or inside the dining room, there was no rush by the staff and the food was delivered and removed flawlessly. Overall it was a great experience and made me want to return with friends and family."

  • "Dinner for four started with muscles -- a little small but a must in this place. All four entrees were delicious, two menu items (salmon, beef tenderloin) and two specials (Cobia and lamb tenderloin). Bread pudding with four spoons for dessert! Don't know why we don't come here more often!"

  • "Anis continues to be my favorite restaurant in Atlanta. The food, service and ambiance is consistently excellent, and I always have a wonderful time there. I love this restaurant! It is the closest thing to being in France you will get in Atlanta."

  • "I was visiting from New York and found Anis on Opentable. Was placed in a good seat and treated with courtesy. Had Moules Marinere and a Salad Nicoise. The decor is whimsical French provencal, with a derelict Citreon deux-cheveau in the front yard and all sorts of odd porcelains and other objets scattered around the yard. Very charming and unpretentious.. Sat in a nice outdoor area, curtained to shield the cold. Lively groups of people there, mostly "ladies who do lunch". An attractive crowd. The owner chatted with me and is obviously a veteran restauranteur. A well rounded and pleasant lunch all in. I would make an effort to return. Wines were not expensive but were were so-so."

  • "I have been having a love affair with French Bistros since I was seventeen and in Paris.....I have one that I love in Georgetown and several in NYC. I am so happy that in the world of using electronic devices in public places and eating popcorn in a play (FOX) that there is still a place in Atlanta where you can feel as if you are in another era I was almost waiting for a famous artist or author to walk in.....the food and wine were delectable....my husband who had not been in a few years could not stop talking about Anis. I usually go with my family who still lives in Atl. We live two hours away and we made a commitment to eat at Anis at least once a month for dinner and I will continue my couple of times a month lunches and brunch."

  • "As French expats, we tend to avoid French restaurants due to previous bad experiences. However, we could not find one disappointing thing about our dining experience at Anis. The food was delicious and we had a great time. Service was efficient and friendly. We will be back :-)"

  • "I had not been here in years. (The person I was meeting for lunch walked in and said "I haven't been here in years!") I just simply forgot about it with all the newer, glitzier places. But there was a time when this was one of the best around. I saw it on Open Table and clicked when I wanted to meet a friend in Buckhead. I had low expectations. It had been so long. It must have gone downhill. But it was a nicer place than I remember. The food was fabulous. Valet parking at lunch. Perfect. The service was attentive and spot on. Really a nice experience. I did feel like I was somewhere else. Maybe not France. But close. I highly recommend giving it another try if you're like me and let it fall off your radar. I'll be back soon."

  • "Had a wonderful dinner as always Wine recommended was absolutely what we were looking for. Can get a bit noisy if you are on the patio but inside was fine. I find the portions ample and tasty . A menu with enough selections without being overwhelmed . And some of the best French " country style" cuisine I have found in Atlanta for the price. And my dessert was complimentary!"

  • "We had a wonderful lunch at Anis. I ordered the Bistro steak with small salad and frites. Yummmm My companion had the moules and frites and they were outstanding. A very nice place, parking is a bit awkward, but they do have a Valet so that helps."

  • "As always, Anise is delightful. I travel for work and eat out most of the time. I can't think of another restaurant with the combination of atmosphere, service and good food that translates to a more enjoyable, comfortable dining experience."

  • "Everything was great, service was attentive yet not intrusive. Food was really good as well. The only down fall were the apps. The presentation could have been better and the octopus app was a little bland. Other than this restaurant it's a great spot to visit."

  • "Cristof was a wonderful waiter.... The food was excellent and prepared with care and love. The Chef's presentation were absolutely beautiful and appetizing. Reminded us when we lived in France and England. It was my husband's birthday and our family loved it. The singer was so soulful & beautiful. A treasure trove of flavors and romantic ambience. Thank you to the Chef and Anis for bringing together the blend of perfection of 5 senses. Recommended highly for the spot to be."
