The food was great. From the appetizer (mozzarella cart) to the veal and salmon entrees it was a wonderful dining experience. The server was friendly/informative and did not rush us through the meal. Definitely will be soon.

For Mom's 85th birthday, I had secured tickets to see Johnny Mathis at nearby Proctor's Theatre. Angelo's Tavalo was located close enough that we could comfortably eat and still arrive in plenty of time for the show. What I didn't think of, was that everyone else was going to headed to the show as well! Nevertheless the staff at Angelo's Tavalo greeted us warmly and seated us promptly. They promised to have us out the door in time for the show and they delivered! They also fed us quite well. Nice mix of entrees on the menu and everything we ordered was suburb. We have been here for brunch in the past as well and they do a terrific job! Nice location, tremendous staff and great food all add up to a rewarding dining experience!

Always enjoy dining at Angelo's Tavalo at Glen Sanders Mansion. Hospitality, ambiance, cuisine, and service are first class. Dinner choice was salmon and it was exquisite! Enjoy the quiet surroundings that the dining room offers. Whenever we come from Utica to attend events at the Proctoor Theater, we dine at Angelo's Tavalo.

My friend and I both had the special filet for dinner which was done perfectly; the kale salad was wonderful as was the caesar salad. Dessert was not good for me; chocolate gelato on graham cracker crumbles which was a bad idea, and it was crystalized, so not real gelato; the chocolate cake was superb. We would return because of the outstanding service, not the food.

Love Mazzone eateries but not this place. We came in expecting to be upstairs and learned on Sunday only downstairs is open (with a limited menu offering). ne waiter was outstanding, unfortunately we didn't get him; we got Justin. I think he has a strange personality and perhaps isn't 'bad'. However, our well done burgers arrived rare (I just ate mine). My wife's took so long, she filled up on fries; we too the burger home. When he left with the burger order I told him please bring the check. Well, 15-20 minutes later I had to tell him again. Ticked me off as he thought it was funny; but it almost made us late for the show. Wish he was more like his partner who was moving all the time. We took care of us when we arrived.

One of the finest dining experiences we have had. The restaurant manager was in the dining room making certain all guests were enjoying themselves. Our waiter was excellent....providing hospitality to our table. He read the patrons mood and adjusted his service to give us the time we needed to enjoy the meal. He offered suggestions on the menu items and did not try to upsell, but really listened to what the guests were asking. The food was fantastic--chopped salad, a salmon dish and a pork chop that were all prepared tremendously and served at the proper temperature. The quality of the food was excellent--as good as you would receive anywhere--at resorts, large metropolitan cities. Price-value tremendous. Breads fantastic!

The menu and selections were pretty varied. However, while the waiter said that Angelo's Tavern was associated with Aperitivo Bistro, it was not nearly as good in the taste and flavors nor what we were expecting. Also, there was confusion in the Wait-staff because while we were first seated in a group of parties that came in roughly at the same time, 3 other tables were attended to before ours was. Give the option of Aperitivo Bistro or Angelo's, we would recommend Aperitivo Bistro.

The food is excellent, but a pricey at times. A $44 dollar steak! Our waiter was very good but would seem to disappear for long stretches. There is a lot going on at the Glen Sanders. A big wedding reception and several restaurants, which I think has the staff splitting their duties between rooms. At times the noise from the wedding would work into our room. Overall a very nice place with GREAT food, but again service bugs need to be worked out , and soundproofing might come in handy when the wedding receptions are in full blast

From the minute we walked in, we were welcomed with open arms, from the hostess who led us to our seats to our waiter who was thoroughly knowledgeable about the food and how it was prepared. We went for our 10th anniversary celebration (we were married at Glen Sanders in 2004) and the hostess, waiter and staff were right on top of everything, from our seating location, to the welcome note to the quality of the food. Our waiter was excellent, very impressive with his knowledge while also injecting his sense of humor into the overall evening. Just a fun guy to have waiting on us. We were surprised when each staff person wished us a happy anniversary and worked to make sure our experience was top notch. Great Job!

One of our favorite restaurants in the capital district. My wife and I split the New York Strip and Scallops and were phenomenal both perfectly cooked to our liking. The sides and sauces that come with each dish compliment the food so well and bring out flavors that are usually not even noted. Matt and Suzy took care of all our needs and never leave disappointed!

This was the best dining experience I've had in a long time and I dine out several times per week. The food was wonderful and the chef even made an excellent dish at my husband's request! Mozzarella and tomatoes caprese were made table side. The service was fantastic. Our waiter was in training but in my opinion he had already mastered the task. He was informative, pleasant and inobtrusive. We were greeted at the entrance by two smiling, friendly people who knew of our reservation and guided us to our table. Too often I find the noise factor in many restaurants to be very loud and thus not conducive to conversation. Not so here. I was able to use my inside voice!! I cannot say enough about this restaurant. We will return.

The menu online was significantly bigger than the menu in house. Had we known there would be about 20 less items, we would have passed. Steak ordered me rare came out well done. A small portion of the cheese ravioli, which was the only vegetarian option on this new menu, consisted of TWO ravioli. The gazpacho was a bunch of chopped up raw onions and tomatoes in a tasteless broth. Extremely disappointed in the whole meal with the exception of the bread!

the dining area was a little to modern for the mansion itself. I played on the mansion front lawn when i was a child and the old time feeling wasn't in the dining room at all. Nothing on the walls or shelves that resembled back in time. colorful glass reminded me of Corning NY (corning glass museum) not Glen Sanders Mansion.

We looked forward to our meal at Tavolo for WEEKS having had a very positive experience prior. This time NOT SO MUCH. Although we had a reservation, we were told to "sit wherever you like" and not escorted to our table. Bad start. There was a VERY loud group at the bar, which took away from the quiet and cozy atmosphere we enjoyed on our prior visit. On top of everything, 80's rock ("Don't Stop Believing") was playing. To have to listen to that while eating a $30 entrée is ridiculous. I brought the music to the waiter's attention, and he asked the bartender to change it. He put on DAVE MATTHEWS station. Is playing appropriate dinner music really that hard? For us, the little lapses, noise, cold temp. ruined the experience. Bummer.

We have never had a "bad" meal at Tavolo. However, this most recent meal was not very good. Wife's daily special main course, pasta with crabmeat and peas,($28) was overly salty. To our server's credit she offered to have the chef make a new plate, but wife declined since it would basically disrupt the entire meal flow...a few tastes later she regretted the decision. My veal chop ($35) was ok but oddly was buried under a large pile of arugula, which, to me, did nothing to complement the meat. At the least it served as a substitute for salad, leading me to my major complaint..neither salad, vegetable, or starch are inlcluded with any entree. Salads are a minimum $6, vegetable $10' and potato or pasta $6. We no longer find any value here.

Our waitress Rachel was seemed to be the worst of the bunch. She arrived at our table with what I would call a sort of 'flip' attitude which continued through the evening. She says are you ready to order, my wife says what do you recommend, and instead of talking about the specials for the evening a flip remark. She never brought over bread, and we spent most of the night looking for her; except to drop off the bill and to take it. She actually interrupted our conversation to take the check 10 minutes after dropping it off. Extremely poor taste. I asked for low sodium, because I have high blood pressure, and she spent 10 minutes telling us why she might not be able to accommodate our request. Like an act of congress.

They seemed to be very short staffed on Mother's Day evening. We were there for quite a while before a server acknowledged us, and then it was to apologize and say it would be a little while longer. Then another server took over for the first, but we still found ourselves waiting for every step in the process - Entrees, plates cleared, ordering dessert, and the dreaded having to wait to ask for the check. This was even though the Dining Room was half empty when we had our entrees. This would have been poor service at a neighborhood italian place, it was very surprising at a place of this caliber.

This establishment executes consistently well on both food and service. I found the menu to be creative, balanced and delicious. The service was proficiently excellent while allowing for just enough informality to take service from good to great. Two years ago, my wife and I married at 677 Prime. It was amazing - not just the food, but the attention to detail behind it, the service, the professionalism. Since then we've had repeat meals at Prime. We are big fans of the meals we've had at Apertivo and Tala. We go there to experience fine dining, great service and because we're foodies who love a great meal. The mozzarella could not be prepared table-side but we gave it a shot anyway. It was bland for a small plate. I ordered the Prime rib medium-rare and it came out medium-well. They had a new one out in ten minutes and comped our dessert. I get a misread ticket - it happens - and they did their best to fix it...but Tavolo did not stand out to us on our anniversary.

I brought a friend there for her first time dining there. The brunch was delicious as usual. I was somewhat surprised that didn't keep up with refilling some items as it wasn't busy. The bagel tray was empty at one point and the dessert table seemed sparse in comparison to prior visits. I love their hot veggie mix - usually has whole, skinny baby carrots with asparagus or green beans. This time, when I went back for 2nds, carrots were regular carrots shaved to look smaller and were harder than I like. That said, everything that I ate was delicious. The bread pudding (different flavor every time we go) was Snickerdoodle and it was the best one I've had there so far. The omelet station chef was very friendly (he made the bread pudding)
