Opted for "just" a steak this time, but the fabulous au poive treatment to my perfectly done NY strip made me smile for hours. Unfortunately, my business recruit - who I took to 677 to impress - had to return his filet to be cooked to the ordered medium when it arrived slightly more rare than even the medium rare I ordered. Not a crisis, but needing to flag down a waiter who wasn't ours (ours was occupied elsewhere for quite a bit too long), was surprising. Both the mis-cook and the moment of inattentiveness were firsts for me at 677, and everything was SO good as expected, that the slip will not affect my decision to return or to recommend this fabulous place to others.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMBeef extraordinaireAlbany's answer to Ruth's Chris, this steakhouse fills the bill. We had the Friday special of prime porterhouse for two; although served sliced off the bone, it gave my wife the filet she wanted, and I got the New York strip. Te best part was that the chef was able to achieve two levels of doneness: rare for me and medium rare for her. We wanted a special place with great food and great atmosphere and Angelo's did not disappoint. The steaks were the highlight, both filet and delmonico , but the fish was also great, as were the vegetable sides, which were large enough to share among the four of us. The service, ambiance and food was outstanding. The wait staff was incredibly attentive and seemed to truly care if we were enjoying our meal. We ordered calamari, a chop salad, steak and chicken parm. The calamari and chicken parm were the best I have ever enjoyed. The light up menus were a nice touch in a dark restaurant. We were also given a complimentary dessert because we were there celebrating my husbands birthday.
The food was expensive, but worth every penny. The attention and service we were given was fantastic!. Our waiter took the time to explain items on the menu and how to take best advantage of it. (The sides are served family style, so if different people order different sides you can enjoy more than one by sharing) The portions are generous and perfectly prepared.
Everyone in our party had steak of one type or another and every one of them was cooked to perfection!
Everything from the appetizers to the desserts was excellent and made for a wonderful memorable evening. I ordered a delmonico ribeye and it came cooked perfectly and was a great cut of steak. Ordered wine by the glass during the meal and had dessert wine with my red velvet cake (superb!).

The wait team is professional, friendly funny and very attentive. I took my mother there for the first time. She wanted to get a steak but (being she's in her 80's) the price scared her. I told her not to worry about it. Get the steak. I'm thrilled I was able to talk her into it because she raved about it. She barely needed a knife to cut the steak.
