Delicious house-made pastas, one of the better Caesar salads in recent memory and a long list of wines by the glass capped our evening at Angelino. The lighting was perfect and the noise level allowed for a good conversation over dinner. There was a full moon shimmering over the Bay with views of the City skyline. Despite the downtown Sausalito location which would seem perfectly suited to tourists, most of the diners appeared to be local, regular and, like us, very happy with their meals.

Seemed to have only 1-2 waiters on busy Sat night. Knew we were in trouble when bread, olive oil and balsamic all tasted 'stale'. Didn't get much better with dinner. Disappointing at any price.

This is an interesting review, as the food was very good, and the restaurant is certainly a great spot to eat, but we had a tough time actually getting what we wanted. A virgin bloody mary and a Diet Coke never arrived with our drinks, we thought there was a mix-up and gave the server the benefit of the doubt. The table ordered a couple of appetizers to share, and they just never came. Once we received our entrees, although delicious, the appetizers were nowhere to be found. Server stated that it was the kitchen's fault, which might've been true on its own, but it seemed to be a theme. The food was plated well, and we had a wonderful table, but considering we were the first at dinner service, there shouldn't have been such disarray.

We were earlier than my stepson so we wait before choosing on the menu but the waiter kept coming back asking for drinks. He seemed in a hurry. Wasn't very friendly. Also we had to wait a long time for the main course even if the restaurant didn't look busy. My fish was overcooked. The rest of the family enjoyed their dinner. Location was great and parking next door was easy but a little bit too expensive.

My family has been coming for dinner over the past decades, and, somehow, had discontinued this practice in recent years. Out return triggered a sense of connectedness and continuity for us. The wine and food was, as always, the real thing, and delicious. The waiter was dealing with too many tables to be fully attentive, but, it was easy to just let it go. My daughter advised me to be a bit more tolerant, and she was correct! I ordered a remarkable and unusual ravioli with a squash filling. I had ordered impulsively, as I anticipated having something with tomato sauce as we travelled over the Golden Gate Bridge. I was happy that I chose so well. We all have an urge to return soon.

The wife and I had a great dinner. Service, food and atmosphere were all on point. We had a grilled octopus appetizer - not my first choice, but we wanted something different - and it was so good we're still talking about it two days later. Dinner was equally as good, and the cannoli dessert killed.

I made my reservation at this restaurant, and showed up on time. My table was ready - next to the window, looking out on San Francisco Bay just at sunset. Beautiful! Our service was prompt and courteous. Our food was good, and freshly prepared. So why hasn't this restaurant sent my account the points I earned? Otherwise, this was a good experience for me, and I do not particularly care for Italian food, but Angelino's is a good restaurant.

Angelinos is worth the trip just for the pasta, but the romantic views and atmosphere are superb. Great service, as well. The staff seem to really enjoy themselves and draw the customers into a very satisfying dining experience. There are so many choices in the area, but this restaurant should definitely be on your list. The only negative remark I have is the parking situation, but that is not specific to Angelinos.

First time at Angelino after walking by about 100 times. I was pleasantly surprised - this is not your average Bridgeway tourist stop. Lots of locals, nice if short menu, strong on local seafood. Mare e orto, sole, and vitello saltimbocca were top rate. Wine selection good but pricey. Interior is bright, with enough room between tables to not feel crowded, and the noise level is rather high. Definitely a return destination.

  • Best Frito Misto Ever

    Dined on 9/18/2014
Party of four, choosing different entries & two salads. Everything was really good to excellent. Flavors were fresh and vibrant. The relatively short wine list paired nicely with the food. The service was professional and efficient, with just the right touch of "friendly". But, best of all is the Frito Misto. I thought for years that Scala’s Bistro (San Francisco) served the best version ever. Well, the Angelino version was a new revelation, an absolutely perfect presentation of vibrant, perfectly-cooked vegetables and seafood deep-fried in a super light-crust batter without any hint of oil and a delicate flavor so subtle that I am unable to identify it. My attempt at describing this entree does not do it justice.

  • THE italian restaurant in the bay
    Visitor
    Dined on 7/24/2014
I have been visiting the bay area in the last 30 years many times, for business and for leisure. I am living in Italy and I do not normally expect to find the same quality of food and preparation of the italian kitchen when visiting italian restaurants outside of Italy. But Angelino in Sausalito is the one exception: an italian restaurant worth that classification. Excellent food, prepared without sophistications and according to italian traditions. I was always completely satisfied during my visits at Angelino. Also its location in front of the bay is spectacular and its atmosphere is calm, comfortable and relaxing.

What a dining experience and what a pleasure to get to know Pasquale, the heart and soul behind Angelino. Him and his family, and the rest of the crew, are wonderful! They even arranged for a breath-taking full moon to rise on the bay during our meal although I suspect that wasn't entirely their job... But the terrific eggplant parmigiana, the fritto misto, the arancini and fish were, and they were all great! Thank hou for a special, truly Italian dining experience!

Four of us ate at Angelino's for the first time this weekend. The waiter could not understand "perfect manhattan" for our drink orders. The drinks had to be sent back twice, with one of us finally getting up to speak directly to the bartender and explain no, we did not want Knob Creek on the rocks. The bartender was surly. We were specifically told the Bolognese had home made fettuccini, which it most definitely was not. When our plates were cleared, we told the person who asked how our meal was that it wasn't very good. He did not follow up, just took the plates away. There aren't a lot of great food alternatives in Sausalito, but there is certainly better than this. We won't be returning.

The meal was superb! Try their signature appetizer, Mare e Orto. It's flavor and texture is unique. Grilled Monterey calamari, baby rock octopus, grilled shrimp, clams and mussels with jardinière vegetables in citrus vinaigrette. Their fish dishes are really fresh and well prepared. Comfortable place, with a surprisingly large number of locals for such a "touristy" location.

The bolonese pasta tasted like chef boyRD with soggy noodles. My veal was just ok...no imagination in the flavors or presentation. First glass of wine had to go back cuz it had turned and the waiter said he often has to return that one (think it was the barbera). You have to pay for parking unless you can get street parking (good luck). Then they cancelled my open table reservation for some reason and I had to call them to get it back so I'd get my points!

I made a reservation for 5 of us for dinner. Service was poor, we waited a while to order, then one of our drink orders and an appetizer were entered incorrectly. We had the mare e orto and antipasti appetizers. Mare e orto was very nice, antipasti I could do without. Cocktails were underwhelming, but wine list was decent. Entrees were ok, gnocchi was underwhelming and poorly plated, but my parents thought the shrimp scampi was delicious and looked like a nice dish. Portions were smaller than expected. Nice ambience, inconsistent food and drinks, and training-like staff. Maybe better for lunch?

The tables at the front have a great view. Tables at the back are quite tight - and chilly if the door is open. My husband's pasta (orecchiette with peas) looked really unappealing - kind of grey, but tasted ok. The salmon in the pasta special seemed mushy (overcooked?) and had a strong taste/smell; Pizza was really good. Service was spotty (appetizer never arrived; recommended a dish that they didn't have).

We had heard of Angelino from friends new to Marin, but hadn't been there. Saturday night we had a marvelous dinner, great service, and easy parking in the lot next door. The wine recommended by our waiter was an Italian white we did not know, and was exactly as requested. That began a most attentive and delicious dinner. Great arancini & Cesar salad to start, followed by perfect ravioli and local sand dabs. We will be back, and bring friends and family!

Pretty good food and great view if you get a good table (view from one side of the table mainly). Good service also. A tad noisy for my taste. The menu is good - but the wine list is overpriced. I guess in Sausalito you'd expect that, but I had better wines for the price on the beachfront in Maui.

I am not a tourist and have been dining at your restaurant for years. I was hoping for a wonderful dining experience with our friends visiting from out of the country, but it was very disappointing! I asked for a spicy bloody mary and was given a very horseradish tasting drink. I asked for spice like tabasco, and heard the bartender, "Mr Wonderful" complain. So he sent over a tray to make my own bloody mary - Seriously!!! Very rude, grumpy and needs a lesson in customer service. Perhaps bartending is not for him anymore.

Went to Angelino with friends, the place was moderately busy on a Friday night but definitely not crowded. Food was average, I had fish and my three companions had pasta - nothing special Service was fair to poor - I had to repeatedly look for the waiter and ask for a diet coke, after the 4th request I asked the man who cleared the dishes from the table and he was kind enough to take care of us. Not a place I would go back to again given the choices (like the Outback where the service is much better)

We used to go to this location on Bridgway in Sausalito a long time ago when I lived there and it was Jack London's so it was a perfect place for Valentine's day - about 100'' from the bay! The food was great. I had the veal chop and it was very tasty as was the veal marsala my wife had. We split a caesar salad which was also perfect. The service was also very attentive. The place was full, but we could still have a nice conversation with the noise.
