  • "Unfortunately Andy's food was not up to Par. The music was good although the Saxist liked to play loud, Chris Harmon the pianist was awesome. I got the Shrimp with a Risotto and was pretty much chili powder flavored. My husband lamb chops were ok. The mashed potatoes were instant which is fine if you add cream and butter and maybe a little garlic , but they just added water. No salt or pepper. Very bland. My sons dish was excellent - he got the Halibut."

  • "This is by far the best restaurant experience my husband and I have ever had. Our waitress was excellent. Michelle was extremely friendly and polite. The food was amazing, the jazz performances were exceptional and the environment was warm and inviting. It was all around a great experience and we will definitely visit again when we come back to Chicago. Thanks for making our anniversary dinner perfect!!!"

  • "My husband and I were entertaining friends from England and thought Andy's Jazz Club would be perfect for the evening! As we walked in I was told of the entry fee. Did not have cash was told of the ATM which was conveniently located across the street. When I arrived the music took me over. The band was amazing!!! There was a woman that performed a few songs with the group this night and if I could be honest.....I could close my eyes and imagine a woman at least 30 years younger singing! Her voice was clear, soulful, and full of experience! The food was definitely the part that I did not expect. I ordered the short ribs and have to say that was the best short rib meal I've ever had!!! Tender and flavorful, I will order this again for sure!!"

  • "We went for Dana Hall's Black Fire Jazz Band. From previous reviewers I did not have high hopes for the food, but was looking forward to the Music by Black Fire (Awesome!!) I was happily surprised that the food was excellent! We had the Crab cakes, Goat Cheese Pizza (Delicious!) (, the Beef SHort Ribs (Outstanding!), Tiramisu (Very good), Bread Pudding (kind of Eggy, but good), and Coffee (OK). We are foodies and seek out restaurants for their food and I would consider Andy's food excellent!! Way better than your standard Bar food, which we had expected. The only thing I can say is we had a waitress that wasn't super attentive, but we didn't mind as we were there for the Jazz and ended up for the food too."

  • "I was disappointed in the band this night. Justin Thomas is a talented vibraphonist, but he was overwhelmed by his buddies on percussion who had little sense of dynamics or leaving space. I was like, guys, you're not the only ones in the room. I expected a little higher caliber performance. Reasonable food and cover for a big city club, nice intimate setting, not pretentious at all, easy walk from the loop. Service was great."

  • "We totally enjoyed the jazz group playing latin style jazz. We were there for the early (5-7PM) show and dinner on a Friday. We reserved for 4:30 for dinner and were the only ones there for the first hour before more people came in. The food was just fine. If its on the menu it should be good but my wife ordered the Fish & Chips and it was just so so. One piece was not edible They offered to replace it but she wasn't that hungry so she did not bother. I had the 1/2 roasted chicken and it however was very nice. The service was friendly and efficient. Because we love jazz, we would recommend it for that."

  • "We booked the table on the internet, and turned up at the specific time and date. We didn't know much about the club, but were pleasantly surprised. The food was great, came in a timely manner and served by attentive staff. The music was great too and we heard some live jazz which we really enjoyed."

  • "Recommended as a last minute substitute. Wow it couldn't have been better. No problem to put up 10 bucks at the door to contribute to the incredible entertainment. The real surprise was the quality of the service, food and atmosphere. We'll be back for sure."

  • "The wine, food and entertainment were very good at Andy's and the service, specifically by our waiter Tye, was excellent. I would recommend Andy's to a friend as a place to enjoy very goof Jazz without having to dress too formally, but at the same time not fill overdressed if you or your significant other are wearing formal attire. The location is excellent for taking a walk in downtown Chicago before or after dining and the ambience just added to making the evening enjoyable. Our waiter, Tye, did an excellent job."

  • "Had family in town and always wanted to try Andy's so we went. I have always heard that the music was some of the best jazz in town and it did not disappoint. But what we didn't know was that the food would be so good! We had the half chicken which fell off the bone good, the rack of lambs with an fantastic glaz and mash potatoes that were just like mom makes! and the Jumbolya was so yummy! We'll be making more trips to Andy's but this time for the great food also!"

  • "My wife and I were in Chicago and decided to go to a jazz club one evening and Andy's was recommended by our hotel as well as some friends. The fact that they had dinner was somewhat of an afterthought but we reserved through Open Table. The food was fine, not spectacular, but fine. The sound level - it is a jazz club - is quite high. The music -- Annalee & The Midnight Sons - was terrific. So...all things considered it was a wonderful evening. If ALL you want is a great meal and quiet conversation, this is not the place. If you want to eat decent food at a reasonable price while hearing great music, this is a wonderful place to go."

  • "Not many great jazz clubs also have good food. Andy's is an exception. Service was also delightful. I plan any visit to Chicago around making sure I have at least one night to spend at Andy's."

  • "It was recommended by the hotel staff and we were happy that we spent our last might in Chicago at this place. Everything was good apart from some people in the back talked really really loud."

  • "I came for the music but found more. The Jazz was superbly performed & musicians mingled with guests. Prices are reasonable, and I got more than my money's worth. It's what a jazz club should be and too often is not."

  • "Great night out, good food, great service - Great group playing there that night the Xavier Breaker Coalition was amazing - its a good thing they were so good because our dinner for two was over $100 and they still made us pay the $15 per person cover charge to get in the door even though we had dinner reservation. Other than that it was great!"

  • "We were celebrating a birthday party and wanted to go to a club with live jazz and this was perfect. Food was good and the music even better. I had read some not-so-good reviews and was hesitant at first to make a reservation but am so glad I did. We really had a fantastic time and everyone couldn't have been nicer from the young guy at the front door to our server. They are strict about the two hour dinner rule!"

  • " Overall good experience. Dissappointed that they forgot to deliver the appatizers. Could have made up for the mistake by comping a desert but chose not to. Music was great and the main course of Beef Ribs were very good. Priced Right!"

  • "We had tickets for the symphony, no time to eat before the performance. A Late night jazz club seemed like a good idea, but I was concerned the food wouldn't be up to the job. No fear. Andys was great. They had our OpenTable reservation waiting when the cab dropped us off, there place was packed and a quartet playing. I ordered the Rosemary rack of lamb, and my partner the Cajun Rosemary Risotto. Food was delivered promptly, the lamb was surprisingly good, well presented; not too fatty, and cooked medium rare as ordered. The mash seemed fresh, no lumps. My partners risotto was more like a rice medley, but again well presented and good. The waiter paid attention and promptly refilled drinks."

  • "We visited on Monday because the performer was the Chicago Jazz Orchestra. The show was amazing and we were pleasantly surprised with the food. Actually we were not expecting great food but it was the contrary. I ordered the salmon and my husband the short ribs and both were excellent. You can also go to have a drink in the bar."

  • "... entertainment - food was quite OK, but that is not why you should definitely go to Andys Jazz Club ==> it is all about the music. Sensational! And the service was impeccable! We had a great, great night there and we can recommend the place 100 %,"

  • "As always, Andy's does a good job of bringing in music talent that is enjoyable to listen to. On this visit I actually ate at Andy's and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of it. I had the Duck Jambalaya. And while it was not a traditional serving of jambalaya it was nevertheless very good. The Bread Pudding dessert was also very good. Only complaint is I wish the spirits were stronger, seemed rather weak. So I switched to beer. But overall Andy's is a nice place to relax, get a good meal and listen to some great sound."

  • "I had a chicken dish that was dry and tough, my wife had fish and chips over cooked. My sons hamburger was not cooked to order and my daughter's salad was small. The music performed was not what I would call authentic jazz. More like remakes of songs made to sound jazzy or a blues rock genre. Not impressed, and I had to pay $40 just to walk in the door at 6:45."

  • "Andy's has been one of the best live entertainment venues for so many years. The history for fine live jazz continues. Service is outstanding! Food is terrific, though the menu has changed and some old favorites no longer offered. Great vibe!"
