Diner Reviews
  • "We had a table for five for brunch. The menu covered everything you would ever want for brunch. The service was exceptional. Everything was cooked to perfection. The wine list was extremely reasonable. We will definitely be going back."

  • "This is our favorite spot to enjoy a full course meal. We had 6 courses, all vegetarian (special order) with wine pairings. One of the dishes was made specifically for us, and it was outstanding! The service was spectacular, the food wonderful, and the wine pairings were perfect (which is often the part many restaurants don't get quite right)."

  • "My husband and I went for our anniversary. We decided to have the chef's choice with the wine pairings. It was so much fun! I think it is one of our most fun Anniversary dinner memories."

  • "Nice young-ish crowd, wonderful food and presentation. It was really loud due to acoustics and our proximity to one drunk group of four but a bit quieter once they left. Our favorite restaurant in Memphis. The only issue was the outside sign is invisible at night and it looks like the outside of a dentist office so no way to know it was a restaurant."

  • "It is unusual for us to enjoy four courses and not have a single recommendation for improvement. The service, the drinks, the wine and the food were all well done. The excellent server was especially well-versed in the preparation of each menu item and answered every question without going to the kitchen for an answer. What a pleasure! The reduction topping the short ribs alone would bring me back again. The lemon tart and budino desserts were a wonderful finishing touch. One of the best meals we've had in Memphis, or anywhere else, for that matter."

  • "We had a great family evening at AMIK. Beautiful mahi mahi, pasta, and dessert. Attentive but not overly intrusive service. Very comfortable and welcoming!"

  • "This was a fantastic find. I took my husband to AM for his birthday dinner and it was perfect. The food was fantastic, the ambience great and the service great! We loved the 3-4 course meal layout of the menu an ideal way to experience very many favours! We will definitely head back to AM again!"

  • "The food and service at AMIK is outstanding. We tried every item on the menu and every single plate delivered. The specialty drinks were a great start. The ravioli is not be missed. Everything was fresh and well seasoned."

  • "AMIK is a treasure in Memphis. The beet salad, potato gnocchi, braised short ribs were the top faves of the table, but everything was absolutely delicious. Impeccable service, amazing cocktails and food out of this world - perfection!!"

  • "We absolutely love the food, service, attention to detail...wines are great. The outside view is debatable. Nice effort with veg garden. It needs a bit more artistic endeavor. We love to sit in the bar area...it is small and intimate."

  • "We wanted a special restaurant to celebrate our 28th anniversary and Andrew Michael did not disappoint. The food was fresh and in wonderful new combinations. I left my choices to our server and he did a marvelous job of encouraging me to try things that I normally would not eat, and it was diving. The salad and pasta courses in particular were fresh, unique and so flavorful. This is a wonderful place for a special occasion dinner - it was quiet and easy to have a conversation. We do plan to come back again."

  • "AM 's got to have the most " out of the ordinary " appetizers, not your day to day spaghetti and meat balls italian place. AM is creative and knows how to please your palate, if you have one. Try the cold italian cuts and the bkfst egg for appetizer, yes at dinner time! we just keep coming back to the place, reservations highly recommended."

  • "We did the 5 course pairing menu, and you should too. Let them give you what's best and you'll be happy!"

  • "We found that the food had to many flavors going on. we had the risotto with scallops, we couldn't tell what was what the scallops were in tiny pieces in the rice. My gnocchi were tiny, too rich, too fatty tasting, actually gave me very bad acid reflux. My husband ordered the pork chop, now this was EXCELLENT. I wish I had ordered it instead of the gnocchi. We even took the bone home! I recommend you go and have the pork!"

  • "Our server explained each dish that we asked about in detail. He was very informative. He also recommended various wines to compliment each course. Every dish was spectacular! We had the charcuterie plate to start, which was dynamite, especially the pate. Our next course was the AM salad and AM breakfast, both excellent. For our pasta course, we tried Maw Maw's ravioli, gnocchi sardi, and agnolotti, which we ordered a second portion of because it was SO GOOD!! For our entrees, we had the butterfish, the lamb, the pork, and some more pasta. All excellent. For dessert, we had the cheesecake, the s'mores gelato, and chocolate sticky toffee pudding. "

  • "We had a wonderful birthday celebration at Andrew Michael. The food was fabulous, and our server did a wonderful job explaining the dishes on the menu. It wouldn't have surprised me if A/M did not live up to all hype I have heard about it, but it did not disappoint. A great way to spend an evening with good friends. "

  • "The food & the service were amongst the best we have experienced. In particular, our waiter gave us marvelous suggestions, all of which led to an excellent meal. hOGHLY recommend it!"

  • "We dined at AM for a birthday dinner after numerous friends recommended the restaurant. We were blown away by the 5 course chef's tasting menu plus wine pairings! The staff was incredibly friendly, knowledgable, and attentive yet patient. We loved the explanations of each dish and enjoyed learning about the wine choices that accompanied each dish. The staff was very flexible in accomodating specific food intolerance and we had the best dining experiences of our lives at AM!"

  • "This is not the American-Italian fare that is most known for around town. This is BETTER and worth visiting. The staff clearly knows their food, wine and how to present the fabulously prepared items on the plate and at the table. Try the 5 course wine pairing and you won't be disappointed!! A must for everyone that enjoys trying new things and being well pleased for the effort. Big nod to the chef!"

  • "My wife and I ordered the five-course tasting menu. All items were very good (some excellent) and well-presented. The meal was lengthy taking about two hours from seating to completion with attentive service throughout. The server's explanation of the contents and preparation of each course was a little more than I was interested in hearing, but overall the service was very good. This is a somewhat expensive restaurant for Memphis, but they are delivering high quality. The dessert cannoli was beyond great."

  • "Nick T. went out of his way to arrange for a tasting menu that catered to my special dietary needs. The chef prepared six outstanding dishes that began with an amuse bouche, included a salad featuring cheese from Ellen, the cow, through butterfish--mmmm, delicious--Benton Farms pork, and dessert. Each dish was an adventure for our taste buds. The chef made me like two vegetables I hate-cooked broccoli and rutabaga. That is quite an accomplishment, chef. We will be back. "

This is the heart and soul of cuisine from italy with a local southern flare. Exceptional worthy of a JB award"

  • "I have dined at Andrew Michael Italian Kitchen twice, and hesitated until recently because of the name. Fortunately, it is less of an "Italian Kitchen" and more of a creative outlet for these two young genius chefs. Using fresh and local ingredients, including herbs and vegetables from their private farm, these chefs change the menu several times a month, using what is best, seasonal, and most flavorful- but there's always pork. Pork belly, pork porterhouse, pork skins... the list goes on, and keeps the restaurant consistent with its' cousin across the street, Hog & Hominy. Give Andrew Michael a try."

  • "My wife and I took her parents for the first time. We all had the chef's tasting menu. This is definitely the way to go. No decisions they just bring out fabulous dishes for each course. The waitress even remembered us from dining there with another couple over a month ago. She was extremely knowledgeable about each and every dish on the menus. OUTSTANDING service. We will definitely return again. "

  • "Everything we had heard about A|M was true to the nines. The server was very good and did a great job helping us choose wines to pair with our choices for three courses. A couple drinks at the bar, three courses plus desserts for 2, with 2 different wines for each of the three courses was about $200. Will go again. Can also recommend their sister restaurant, Hog and Hominy, right across the street, for a less expensive option."

  • "Our meal left a lot to be desired. Our $10 'salad' was a clump of shaved brussel sprouts on a large plate--3 bites. I suppose my main issue was our entrees. Mine was a braised veal breast that the waiter plainly suggested as the best entree of the evening. It was hardly more than a slab of fat with a hint of some meat underneath. We sent it back when the server agreed that the fat was excessive. The next plate brought out was the 'lean' version. Still, much too fatty if you ask me and totally unacceptable for a high end restaurant offering entrees that are well over $30 a pop. My husbands pork osso buco was fatty as well and seemed to be more bone than meat. We decline dessert. All and all, not the experience we expected or had hoped for."

  • "Wonderful food and service! All three of us ate every bite of our three course meals and then shared 2 desserts and ate all that too. Each dish had a distinct and delicious flavor and was just the right size portion."

  • "I was very impressed with the personal service this weekend. I contacted the restaurant to ask of they could make a appetizer that was taken off the menu last year as this was for a special occasion. They happily prepared the chicken livers for my dads 83'rd birthday. The ravioli was fabulous and the gravy is just amazing. I highly recommend this dish. We had the sticky toffee pudding and marscapone cheesecake - which was my favorite. Great food and excellent service!"

  • "We chose to celebrate my wife's birthday at Andrew Michael, and we couldn't be happier with our choice. The food was amazing and the service was prompt, professional and friendly. The Gnocci, Butterfish and Lamb were all perfectly prepared and delicious. I would recommend Andrew Michael to ANYONE!"
