Andres RestaurantGreat dinner for wife's birthdayFood was excellent. My wife and I each had 5 course meal. Well worth it. The price was beyond reasonable for the quality and portion sizes of the dishes. Service was good. The restaurant ran out of the entree special by the time we ordered (7:30 Friday night). They also did not have the bottle of wine we ordered so we ended up ordering by the glass. We felt bad for the waitress and tipped her on our final bill as though the bottle was served. LOL. We both worked in fine dining and knew how she felt after losing a sale for something not her fault. Anyway, great meal and a really quaint restaurant. My husband had the swordfish with calamari - it was excellent. I had veal medallions and they were just as good. Service is excellent, all the staff is friendly and caters to you. I was somewhat disappointed, because I thought that in a small town we might not be able to find a place to have dinner that had great ambiance, good food and a nice wine list. However, finding Andre's was a nice surprise! The food was delicious and they had nice wine and mixed drinks. We were glad to find a place away from home that was romantic and special. Mother's day is already a special occasion and having dinner at Andre's makes it even more magical. Each item offered on the menu can certainly be considered a "special". I thoroughly enjoyed the swordfish which was moist, extremely tender and served with a delicate butter sauce and delicious vegetables, they had run out of sticky rice so the waitress asked what I would like to replace it. I asked what are my choices? and her response was Andre can make any starch you would like and I said, how about a pesto pasta? From the decor to the wait staff, from the amuse-bouche to the final forkful of dessert, Andre's is remarkable in every way.
Trained at CIA in Hyde Park, Andre prepares each dish with panache and great care. "You eat with your eyes" my girlfriend is fond of saying, Andre understands this more than most chefs in rural New Jersey restaurants - his presentation is as exceptional as the food itself.
The Lobster-Potato Ravioli appetizer was delicious and cooked to perfection, with a sauce that makes you wish you hadn't already consumed all the bread in the basket. No. Newton, New JerseyYou wouldn't expect to find such a restaurant like Andre's in the heart of Sussex County, but there it is, nestled inconspicuously between the small businesses on Spring St. And when you walk through the front door, you might imagine you've been transported to a trendy neighborhood somewhere west and across a river because the staff is courteous and professional and not because the corporate handbook has explained how in bullet points, but because they obviously want everyone who walks in to have a great experience. But that's only the first few minutes. For the remainder of your time at Andre's you will have expertly prepared food.
