  • "we were only in Carmel for a one night stay and we made the most of it by dining at Andre's... we had a very nice meal - very nice... the staff were very accommodating with our 8 year old girl and very attentive all evening...i had an excellent veal special and my wife had the best duck breast of her life... the lobster bisque , pate appetizer and desserts were also amazing we brought our own wine but read thru their extensive wine list...it looked excellent for the 3 of us (2 1/2 really) we spent $200...it was well worth it and we will go back"

  • "This was the second French restaurant that we visited in as many days. The food was good and our waiter seemed to be overworked; though he tried to be attentive. What was unacceptable, was the treatment or lack thereof by their sommelier. For whatever reason, we were totally ignored by this individual. We weren't certain if it was because we hadn't ordered an expensive bottle of wine that needed to breathe for 30 minutes like the young couple in the corner only to be fussed over when their appetizers arrived before the wine was ready in which the sommelier brought them another wine to drink or because we lacked a foreign accent. We were treated as if we were wearing scarlet letters. In the end, we took it upon ourselves to order our wine."

  • "We booked 9 person table one month before, for a special occasion involving a family reunion and a grandma's 83rd birthday. To our disappointment, the cake reserved in advance and which was confirmed by email, was forgotten! Luckily, speedy action was taken by the chef and we had a replacement lemon meringue pie complete with candles. Had complimentary drinks too. Well done in the end, thank you."

  • "My wife ate here when visiting Carmel and were very pleased. Our salad was very tasty with warm goat cheese on top. My wife had the scallops and I had the beef filet both cooked perfectly and had great flavor. Jose our server did a great job. Wine prices are a little steep."

  • "Food was great, pretty restaurant with an amazing wine list, but the sommelier was awful. My husband doesn't drink. I ordered a glass of Chardonnay, and the sommelier immediately tried to get me to upgrade (his words) to a bottle of very expensive Chard. I mentioned that my husband doesn't drink ( twice). He suggested a half bottle. The bottle was $60. The half was, like, $30+. I finally got him to agree to bring me the original glass I'd ordered, and he seemed quite disappointed in me! I then heard him trying the same thing at the two tables closest to us. Not cool."

  • "We've been going to this restaurant for the last 3 years and the food is outstanding and deserves Michelin star. The staff are friendly and the chef is terrific , even the owner is friendly. I recommend this restaurant to anybody who likes to French cuisine ,the wine list is great and affordable. The place is suitable for family and groups and a good place for a first date to make an impression. The staff is very accommodating even to the last moment, I can only say you will always come back to Andre's Bouchee when you're in Carmel."

  • "Six of us ate dinner the other evening and everyone of us gushed how wonderful the food was. I had their famous cream of mushroom soup with truffle oil and it was superb. The subtle, earthy and ethereal flavors are still haunting me. I will most likely always order this from now on. I opted for a lighter meal, selecting the special duck confit salad as my entree. It was delicious and generously portioned, so there was no room for desert, but would have ordered the profiteroles if I had room. Last evening I enjoyed my husband's leftover lamb shank and was once again in food heaven. I can only imagine how amazing it was when first presented at the table. "

  • "Great food and great service w/ an even better wine list. What's not to like. Appetizer portion so large my wife passed on dinner and got a salad. Started w/ sardines (my wife) and mushroom soup for me. Both superb. Sardines were enough for a dinner. I had Dover sole for entree deboned table side. Hadnt had that in years. Delicious. What was especially nice was server never rushed us. Dinner was started when we were ready, not when they were. A local friend had given us several Carmel restaurants as recs and Im glad we chose this one"

  • "Another great dinner here: we and our friends love Bouchee. The mushroom bisque, scallop carpaccio, sweetbreads, and rack of veal were amazing. Demi-glace on the veal rack was especially fine. Ended with a tart tartin that wowed us all--if it's on the menu don't miss it! Excellent food, great service, handsome dining room - what more can you ask for? This is our favorite French restaurant in the area, and we wish they were located next door to us! (But it's okay, being here gives us a reason to come down for both Parker-Lusseau Bakery AND Bouchee)"

The bartender serves the wine and was rather upset that we did not buy the bottle we originally were going too, they were charging $179 (he said we could get $25 discount). The next day we bought it for $58."

  • "As locals we always chose Andre's Bouchee and Wine Bistro as our special occasion restaurant, as well as the restaurant that we go anytime we want a meal that we know will be prepared and served perfectly. The Lobster Bisque with chunks of lobster meat in it is a divine way to begin either lunch or dinner. Over time, we have eaten different preparations of fresh fish, seafood, veal, duck and more without ever being disappointed. Stephan, the owner, is extremely accommodating and friendly, always making sure each patron's meal is prepared perfectly. Server's recall your preferences and check on you during your meal. The sommelier is very knowledgeable on wine whether by the glass or bottle. There is no reason to eat anywhere but Andrees!!!"

When you come here, you come to dine which means taking your time & enjoying the experience. Don't expect to get served like your local fast food joint. We ordered escargot, mussels for appetizers. Our main courses were: sweet breads, lamb shank, & scallops. We had the creme brûlée and ice cream with turnover. All dishes were excellent. I would definitely return when I'm in the area."
