Diner Reviews
  • "My wife and I make it to Andrea about three times a year and it has never disappointed us. The food is excellent, great wine list, fatastic service and a world-class view from the terrace. Saturday the white asparagus was wonderful and we can't pass up the risotto. If you have the opportunity, take it."

  • "I treated my wife and youngest daughter to dinner at Andrea's on our last night of vacation. It was everything that I had expected. Our table request outside was obliged and we had an excellent view of the sunset in a warm and inviting porch. Service was excellent and attentive. Wine list was extensive, although expensive. Food was very well prepared and proportioned. We had a wonderful evening and would consider Andrea for other special evenings."

  • "We were visiting Newport Beach. I think this restaurant is over priced and the food is just ok. There are many other restaurants in the area that have better food and cost much less."

  • "Took my daughter to lunch on the patio. Exquisite view, food wine service. Quiet, late lunch. Steak salad and artisanal cheese to start followed by salmon. All inclusive lunch price of $35.00. Great wine by the glass. Overall the ambiance was the topper. One could gaze out over the golf course to the ocean for hours. Highly recommended."

  • "The specialty drinks and breads were excellent, but the food left much to be desired on the Friday afternoon we dined at Andrea. Nothing stood out as a dish that I would crave again or go back to the restaurant for. The view was as breathtaking as we had hoped, so that did not disappoint."

  • "Ordered pasta which is suppose to be their specialty however it was hard to find pasta because it was drowned in sauce. Not very tasty sauce at that"

  • "Overall is good. This is our 2nd time to have lunch there. Food is good, service is a bit too slow. It took more than 2 hours to finish."

  • "Gorgeous veiw from hotel lobby and dining on the patio. When the hostess sat us at our table, we noticed a infant in the far corner. They sat us on in the middle of the patio, which was good for a romantic experience. Right before we ordered, a lady and infant appeared at the table next to us. She sat with her husband and proceeded to breast feed at their table. It was clearly visible that our waiter was uncomfortable with the situation, just like ourselves. Talk about deflating a romantic evening with my wife. I ordered the Waygu steak with arugula salad. The steak was nothing to write home about. We ordered a coffee and tea for desert. They gave a nice presentation of mini deserts on the house. Underwhelming experience for the price."

  • "We were told the 22 oz. T-Bone was one of the best steak dinners in Orange County, so that's what we ordered. It did not disappoint. It's served for two, comes with potatoes gratin and roasted vegetables, and because it serves two, it's a relative bargain. The sauce served with it is sublime. The wine by the glass is generously poured, like getting two for one.The view is magnificent. Why travel to Hawaii, when you can come here and get the same ambiance and views. I will say the tiramisu was a bit bland, not boozy or sweet enough to my taste. But, it was served with a marmalade, so maybe the chef wanted the very sweet marmalade to compensate for the lack of sugar in the tiramisu. A very high quality place and a very high quality meal."

  • "The food at Andrea is delicious and the service is excellent. However, the restaurant was a bit loud for our tastes. Also, having eaten at The Island Hotel, we were expecting the prices to be more in line with their restaurant since it is also owned by The Irvine Co. Andrea was substantially more expensive, so we were a little taken off guard by that."

  • "We enjoyed a fabulous luncheon. Views were outstanding, the Italia cuisine even better! Service was VERY GOOD, attentive, yet not over bearing and good up selling on both wines and courses of food. We will definitely return once again for either lunch or dinner to this beautiful property! Grazie, Chef Dean"

  • "I'm not a big fan of Italian food, but my wife loves Risotto. So, we went there for our anniversary. Compares to other Italian restaurant, it was too expensive. However, it was worth it. The Risotto with truffle was fantastic and we still can't stop thinking of the taste. Appetizers, desert and the coffee from Monaco were also great. You won't be disappointed.."

  • "When I made my reservation for lunch for Sunday (Valentine weekend) I was told that seating on the terrace was on a first-come basis. When we arrived (two couples) I was told the terrace was set for groups of two and therefore we would have to eat inside. During the entire time we were there (inside) there was never more than two couples on the terrace. It was a slow day and the terrace was largely empty. It is still not clear to me why a table for four could not be setup. That part of our experience at Andrea’s was very disappointing and completely unexpected."

  • "The restaurant had a very nice quiet ambiance and beautiful view overlooking the golf coarse and ocean. We look forward to going back in the summer to enjoy the outdoor patio. Customer service was excellent and food outstanding. We will definitely be back."

  • "We always enjoy a visit to Andrea, and this time did not disappoint. Even though it was busy, it was quiet and the accomplished guitarist could be heard playing selections that created a wonderful mood. Of course the food and service were excellent."

  • "Was recommended through Open Table. Looked like a romantic scenic setting and took a chance. The views were spectacular, the ambiance classic romantic and the service expected of a 5 star location. Everything was exceptional with prompt friendly and professional service, knowledgeable staff and absolutely fabulous food. The entire experience was first class. We celebrated Valentines Day along with my wife's birthday, so she is accustomed to great experiences. What made it all the greater was the exceptional value of the experience. Inexpensive it is not, but I've paid much more for much less. We will come again soon!"

  • "We had superb cuisine at PH Andrea, service a bit slow, supposedly to allow our conversation to flow, but 2 1/2 hours for lunch was a little too laid back even for California! But our servers, when available, were knowledgeable, courteous, and gracious. The fish (salmon, monkfish, halibut) all were served perfectly, with delightfully joyous sauces and sides."

  • "We met friends there and were very late because of bad traffic. Restaurant was very nice about it. Food and service were both outstanding. Tables spaced nicely so could talk easily, even with the soft live guitar music. Highly recommended for an upscale evening and worth the price."

  • "I had been to Andrea twice before shortly after it opened and found the food sophisticated but relatively bland and uninteresting. Last weekend we went out with friends who really wanted to go there so we decided to give it another try. What a difference. The food was still sophisticated, but now it is really flavorful. The service was amazing. When I couldn't decide on a pasta our server volunteered to make up a tasting plate. It has never been inexpensive to eat here, but now I feel like it's a good value."

  • "We were treated royally from start to finish. Everyone greeted us by name. The menu was broad in options and the chef's special was superb. Very nice evening"

  • "While the service from Will was outstanding, and the quality and taste of the food excellent, the portions were ridiculously small for even the finest of dining experiences. We had the scallop appetizer, salad, their famous risotto, and monkfish and a few $30 glasses of great wine, and we were still very hungry afterwards. I never expected Mastro's unusually large sized portions at such a fine dining restaurant, but the the servings were half of what you would receive from Wildfish, Gulfstream or Bandera's. It came across as very cheap. We won't be back."

  • "I took my wife here for our 5 year anniversary. They sat us immediately in the outer section with a view. Our waitress Melissa was friendly and knowledgeable in breaking down the menu and describing the specials. We opted for the tasting menu as anything on the list could be substituted. We did substitute the pasta item with the risotto which was delicious. They even do a table side presentation, mixing the risotto in a cheese wheel. We also got the wagyu beef and substituted for the duck which was the special for the evening. They were both perfectly cooked. The night was capped off with a mix of fantastic desserts and Melissa brought us a few extra tasty items and took some great pics for us to remember the night! Perfect!"

  • "My husband absolutely loved his Wagyu beef entree. I sent my fish back because it was overdone and then they brought a new type of fish that was not much better. I just ate it, but was disappointed. The risotto cheese wheel was a definite treat. The server did compensate us with after-dinner drinks which was a nice touch. We ordered the Chef's menu at $110/head and did not feel that it was worth it. Desserts were OK. If you know dishes you love, you are just better off ordering them a la carte. Portions are quite small, but that is expected for fancy food. This was our 3rd time dining there. Room service is always great!"

  • "Loved the restaurant. Be sure to try out the Caffe for some after dinner/lunch gelato and espresso. What I liked most was how quiet it was...you could have a conversation with your lunch partner. What a concept!!"
