A word from Andina
Andina draws inspiration from the native culinary traditions of Peru, as well as from the contemporary cooking by some of Peru’s leading chefs. Owner Doris Rodriguez de Platt, collaborates with Andina’s kitchen team to develop a menu that celebrates her family’s Andean roots, interweaving the ideas and techniques of both Criollo and Novo-Andean cuisines. The kitchen sources native and local ingredients to create dishes at once traditionally rooted and personally inspired. Founded in 2003, Andina emerged as one of the region’s leading Peruvian restaurants and continues to generate wide appeal within the food communities in and around Portland, and much further afield.Continued

  • "Andina can't be matched in terms of their food in Portland. This means that it's often quite busy and noisy, but it's well worth it. All of their food is great. Get a dessert too if you want to be truly moved."

  • "We had booked on Open Table and ended up getting there a bit early. They were very accommodating and gave us a great table. If you want a very loud, trendy and lively atmosphere, this is the place! Looking for a quiet table and romantic conversation, not so much... We did tapas and all of the dishes were fresh and well prepared and presented. The wait staff were outstanding, and very knowledgeable on ALL the dishes and wines. Don't miss the creme brulee dessert sampler. Sublime!"

  • "My boyfriend and I were so excited to find a delicious and somewhat fancy, restaurant in Portland. They have a separate vegetarian and vegan menu which worked out perfectly for our mixed group of diners. Everything we had was incredible!"

  • "The food is excellent. The owner greeting tables and thanking us for coming in and telling us about Peruvian food was a special treat."

  • "I love that Andina has vegetarian/vegan and GF menus in addition to their regular outstanding menu. They were so kind and accommodating of my GF mom and of the vegan (that's me) in our group. The service was fantastic and the food and presentation amazing."

  • "We anticipated a superior dining experience, but we were blown away by Andina! Food, service and ambience were superb. Tapas and entrees we tried were all fabulous! We will be recommending it to all our friends when they visit Portland. When the owner came by to check on our meal, we told her we wished she had a restaurant in LA, our home town!"

  • "Brought friends from Vancouver, BC who are world travelers and food aficionados. They were so impressed and it became of their memorable experiences! We'll return next time they come to town. Can't say enough about the personal service, the excellent quality and variety of the food, and the lovely way the owner comes and talks to all the guests, and makes sure your questions are answered. She is a gem!"

  • "I have heard many great things about Andina over the few years. Unfortunately, the restaurant is so loud, that I could not hear my dining partner across the table and neither of us could hear the server explaining the specials. The food was good, but I would not hurry back."

  • "Went there several years ago and loved it - just returned with our nephew and his fiancee - hoping it was going to be a good as we remembered. It was GREAT!! Every dish a gem. We ordered many small plates and shared. Our waiter was very helpful in helping us decide quantities, size of dishes to order"

  • "I had the QUESOS ARTESANOS CON MEMBRILLO (cheese plate), TABULE DE QUINUA (quinoa salad), CONCHAS DEL SEÑOR DE SIPÁN (scallops entree), MOUSSE DE VALLE Y SELVA (mousse dessert), and a virgin MOJITO (lime drink) along with the "sommelier's recommendation" red shown on the wine list. Everything was wonderfully flavorful and attractively presented. Our server Emily was friendly, attentive, knowledgeable, and helpful. I was glad that we made reservations through OpenTable earlier in the day, and that we arrived hungry! Our first table was kind of in the middle of everything and didn't feel intimate, but the hostess was happy to reseat us. It helped that I had excellent company to dine with, but truly this was a perfect meal to remember."

  • "We are solely fish eaters, so we ordered almost all of the fish/seafood tapas to share (about 7 dishes) and after we each ordered a dessert. Everything was very flavorful and cooked to perfection! The scallops were to DIE FOR!!!! Very good food and lived up to all of our high expectations because we'd read prior reviews and received recommendations to go here. Did not disappoint! So glad we made it part of our Portland visit! Well worth every penny!"

  • "the appetizers were great. we had the chorizo, chicken kebabs, asparagus, and avocados stuffed with crab. the entrees are small and not great for sharing. we had the chicken and the beef tenders. stick with the appetizers, they are better."

  • "This was my second visit to Andina, and the food and service was just as great as (about a year) before. I took my girlfriend there for her birthday and she loved it."

  • "This was my second time at Andina, and once again I was thoroughly impressed with the whole scene: food, service and ambiance! The infused passion fruit drink is amazing, wow, needed a second which was my dessert also! Great service, very friendly and helpful!"

  • "The dishes we ordered were only conceptually connected to the genuine Peruvian cuisine. Very disappointing."

  • "The scallops were amazing! The quinoa risotto was also great."

  • "Our second experience diningg at Andina's was quite different from our extraordinary first visit. This was another birthday celebration. The service was very mediocre. The waiter forgot a drink order, appetizers took 35 minutes, bread was forgotten, duck was under cooked enough to be inedibly tough, waiter was belated in checking back on how our dinner fared, crumbs were not brushed from table, birthday celebratory dessert was forgotten even though we were obviously unwrapping gifts. The flow of the evening just did not happen. Considering relocation our celebrations to another restaurant destination were the cost meets the service."

  • "Used to live in Portland & in town for couple days so wanted to visit my favorite restaurant! In the reservations we requested a window seat, so we can enjoy the scener we miss so much. I understood it may be a hard request to fill, so happily sat down at an internal table with no views beyond the elbows of the next diner, even though walked past a few window seats on the way to being seated. Figured someone reserved before us. But just as we were seated, another couple left a window seat, so we asked if we could be seated there instead. They said a walk-in party just requested window, so felt like they didn't even try to honor the request. Also, had to use the busser for our information source, since server was MIA."

  • "We were a party of four, and made a dinner out of assorted tapas. Server was very helpful in selection process and knowledgeable about the food. Every dish was a delight to the eye- we almost didn't want to eat some of them. Subtle flavors. Desserts were interesting and yummy. Recommended."

  • "I researched Portland restaurants before leaving on vacation and Andina was highly recommended. My family and I dined there on a Friday night. There was great energy in the restaurant and the food was absolutely wonderful, everything was very flavourful and cooked to perfection. The only blemish on the evening was their refusal to accept a Canadian Drivers License (BC) as proof of age for my 21 year old daughter, would only accept a passport. We ate out at many other restaurants throughout the city and no other restaurant made this request, interesting given that this is liquor board requirement (per the restaurant). They need to make this requirement clear on their website/open table so other young people can avoid disappointment."

  • "Food was good, but too expensive for what it was. The noise level was very uncomfortable...We have eaten there before, which we enjoyed more because it was in the downstairs area... earlier, the food was more to our liking and the noise level was manageable. When we ate upstairs on June 30, we could barely hold a conversation with our friends. They also felt the noise level very much diminished the evening we spent at Andina."

  • "So delicious. Andina is my favorite spot for special occasions. Wonderful menu, exceptional food. I would go there every day if I could!"
    Dined on 6/29/2014
  • "The food was innovative and unique - really tasty! The portion size of the small plates was very generous. Great sangria pitchers too, not all watered down with ice. The waiter knew how to pace the tapas meal very well. Make a reservation!"

  • "I heard great things about this restaurant . I wanted to take my mother some where special and well known. The bar was great and very accommodating. We ordered a few dishes to start.....the prawns were bland and had no flavor. The ono had way to much lime to taste anything else happening on the dish. The filet mignon was flavorful, but overall our experience was very unsatisying. I would probably not come back."

  • "This place is fantastic. Love the ambiance and the food is to die for. Only small comment is that is it very noisy and difficult to talk with a first date. Also, the two tables we were assigned to for a couple were not as romantic as I would have liked. But overall this place is on my favorites list."

  • "I tried three "recommended" restaurants while in Portland. This is the only one I would go back to. The octopus small plate was excellent and worthy of a visit. The other dishes we had were good. The Chilean red we had ($40-$50 a bottle) was good but not excellent. I am from a food rich area, and overall I would give this restaurant a 4 out 5 rating."

  • "This was our first time visiting Andinas. We had heard from family and friends that this place was great, but had never had the opportunity to dine here. Our anniversary was coming up so I decided that it was a perfect opportunity to try this place out. The service was excellent, everyone was kind and helpful. The ambience was mellow with music playing in the back, however at any moment did we struggle to exchange words between my wife and I. They also served from an extensive selection of premium wines from all over the world. And lastly, the food was great from the taste to the presentation. This is definitely a place I will visiting again."

  • "We've been a number of times and it is always great. You have to try the octopus appetizer as there are few things better."

  • "Excellent menu, especially the tapas! We shared four different ones, selected by our taste and recommendations of our enthusiastic and attentive waiter. Great Sauvignon Blanc and Cristal beer. For our first visit to Portland it was a great finish to an afternoon renaming the Pearl District. You must include Andina's on your visit!"

  • "We continue to take our grandson to Andina's for his Christmas present. WE took to Andina's before our trip with him to Peru to get a sample of Peruvian food. We have returned since our trip 3 times because he loves it. The food and service was as expected. Nothing outstanding but professional and a pleasure."

  • "My wife and I celebrated our second wedding anniversary here and it was fantastic. The server was very knowledgeable on the menu and very polite. The food was phenomenal. Andina's was very accommodating to my wife's vegan diet. The cocktails where very unique and delicious. We will definitely be returning to Andina's"
