AndaluWe've tried the wine pairingWe've tried the wine pairing and tequila tasting menus. Both were tasty and more food than you need. Lots of good tastes. Great that valet parking is available.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMAndaluService was great. We had a theater curtain to make and they were very efficient. Valet parking also did a good job,
Small plate food was very tasty. Deserts were the highlight. Bill seamed high considering several drinks and plates were on special reduced prices. Unlikely we will return. Andula was close to a one time visit we made to the Mission District.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMWe enjoyed Andalu's smallWe enjoyed Andalu's small plates menu. The variety of choices, tastes and flavors offered was very good and 4 of them shared between 2 was a very adequate dinner. There's a good list of draft and bottled beers and the cocktail menu was exciting. Who could resist a cocktail called Corpse Reviver??? Service was attentive and unobtrusive.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat staff, pricey tapasWent late on a Saturday night. Staff accommodated our group of 10, even though we reserved for 8. Our waitress was really on top of everything, especially considering how busy it was.
The food is good, but the portions are small for $10-13/plate. My sea bass was four veeery tiny (but very tasty) squares of fish.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMAndalu Rocks!Food was great--delicious and perfect portions. We tried the tasting menu with wine pairings and we enjoyed all of the small plates and the wines paired with each course--fantastic!4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place, easy to get toGreat place, easy to get to from 16th St. BART. The neighborhood has eccentrics and less fortunate but the restaurant is great. Don't let that stop you from a great time. Also had valet parking if you choose to drive! Sangria was also delicious so it's a win win!4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMthe tasting menu was greatthe tasting menu was great and the wine pairings quite good.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing tasting menu dealhad a Groupon for 5 course/10 different plate tasting menu with included wine pairings; was able to use 2 certificates to cover the 4 of us. It was one of the best dining deals I've had in San Francisco - a perfect long and delicious dinner to celebrate my son's 25th birthday. Our server was extremely friendly, kept the pacing appropriate, and spoke about each wine (in addition to the descriptions on the menu). Of the 10 dishes we ate, only the brussels sprouts were mundane. The short ribs and spareribs were really tender and flavorful, the shrimp perfectly spiced with just the right kick, and I wanted to take home a vat of the Castilian cocoa served with beignets. Highest recommendation!4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was delicious, especiallyFood was delicious, especially the ribs. The wine pairings on the tasting menu ranged from meh to bad to terrible. I would not drink a single one again. Stick with the cocktails/sangria, which are quite good.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat date location. TapasGreat date location. Tapas tasty and small enough that you can enjoy several amongst the two of you. Staff did not give us any trouble when we ordered another carafe of sangria for desert and took another hour to leave.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMTasty food, very attentiveTasty food, very attentive service, vibrant scene--a good first visit for a group of 9.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMThe more the merrier! The dishes are basically all served as tapas, so having more people at the meal allows for more choices of food (or just arrive EXTREMELY hungry and choose from all manner of tasty dishes!).
* Ahi Tartare Tacos: a great dish to start with and are "right-sized" to chomp down on without the insides spilling out.
* Miso Glazed Sea Bass: the lettuce cups provide a crisp- and fresh-ness to the dish.
* Steak Tartar: one of the drawbacks of eating with a larger group - you don't get this dish to yourself!
* Butternut Squash Raviolis: although topped with a creamy sauce, it's still light and the ravioli was neither too hard nor too soft.
* Beef Cheeks: very tender and flavorful.
Finally, don't forget to try some of the delectable cocktail4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had the 10-course tastingWe had the 10-course tasting menu accompanied with a 5-wines course, and it was too much food so we had to take a doggy bag with the main courses. But each course tasted distinctively different with a good balance of flavors and spices, and all were quite delicious. The staff service was very timely, cordial and personable. He explained each wine (which was also described on the menu) and how they would match with each course, and he was quite accurate. It was a nice experience as we were able to sample a variety of dishes so we will know what to order in the future.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was amazing!!! I'll definitelyFood was amazing!!! I'll definitely coming back, esp for their donut holes with hot cocoa.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMOur server, Mortimore, rocked! Our server, Mortimore, rocked! Cocktails were amazing as well!3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMLove this place!!! I haven'tLove this place!!!
I haven't been here in years and I was so thrilled that the menu was the same as I remembered it. It was also a real treat to see Calvin at the restaurant too!3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMAndalu did not disappoint!I took a risk on Andalu as my brother and wife had just gotten done with a 4 day seminar at the Culinary Institute in Napa and I wanted to take them to a place that was both ethnic and had impressive food. It did not disappoint!
Dishes were inventive, very tasty, and nicely presented. The menu offered a wide variety of coices, very good selection of beer, wine and other drinks. Service was efficient, pleasant, friendly, and knowledgable.
We were there early evening so it was quiet and perfect for conversation, I could imagine that at its height of business could be very loud.
Would definitely recommend and visit again!3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMPolenta Fries + Bottomless MimosasThe Benedict was only mediocre, but the real reasons you go to brunch here are: 1) polenta fries (THE MOST AWESOME IDEA IN BRUNCH HISTORY) and 2) bottomless mimosas3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMThe fantastic experience startedThe fantastic experience started with the valet parking. So convenient and the valets were really friendly and fast. The hostess was welcoming. Our server was really nice and attentive. I wish I had asked her name, b/c she was very sweet. No pretense or attitude anywhere in this place. Three of us shared six small plates and a dessert. Each one was better than the next. The butternut squash raviolis were so melt in your mouth delicious that we ordered a second plate. And tha Ahi tuna tartar tacos were phenominal. We had a great time and can't wait to go back.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently good. CreativeConsistently good. Creative Tapas. Great service. Have a mojito.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMTapas and WineIf you like tapas, this would be the place for you. They also have an extensive wine list to go along with their fantastic food. You have to try their mac & cheese, and for dessert, is there any doubt -- totally go for the donut holes. Great venue to go with a group of friends, and they also have a upstairs for private dining. I would recommend for everyone to check out!2/23/2013 12:00:00 AMthe ten course tasting menuthe ten course tasting menu was just outstanding!
