  • "We went a Sunday Evening but unfortunately the Menu was very Limited we were told this i normal for Sundays please mentioned this on you web side so people do not get disappointed, we will not be in on a Sunday again, but maybe give it a weekday."

  • "Our family and group of friends are regulars at the Ancaster Mill. It has become a Hamilton establishment. If you have anything you want to celebrate with a special touch or just go out for brunch with friends or family you will never be disappointed. Our group last Sunday was just delighted. The only thing that would make it more fabulous is ROUND TABLES. We often as a group of 8-10 and it would be just so much nicer if we could talk across the table rather than 'down' the table."

  • "We are big fans of Earth to Table Bread Bar, so felt certain our experience at The Ancaster Mill would be equally satisfying. The restaurant is in a beautiful setting and decorated in the best of modern country style. The staff is welcoming; our server was engaging and attentive. Surprisingly, our visit was very disappointing because of the food. Some of the food was good, but some was poor quality. The oysters were not fresh. Two members of our party had omelettes, which were made by a cook who appeared to not know what he was doing. A third member of our party changed her mind about ordering an omelette after she observed him wiping out the pan with a filthy towel he had hanging from his belt. Very unappetizing, not to mention unhygienic."

  • "I nearly had a heart attack when I saw the bill. Five people for Sunday Brunch. 300 dollars. There was no price listed for this brunch. I had one plate of food. No one explained that there was no option to order from a menu. We were put in a room with no views. I have enjoyed lunch on other days at the Mill with a friend which was not priced as high. I'll know in the future to stay away from the Old Mill on Sundays."

  • "We have had brunch here before and is our favorite place to come. You couldn't ask for more. The service is fantastic, not to mention all the variety of foods to choose from. My husband and I have very different tastes and there is always something to choose from. Excellent Brunch!"

  • "Beautiful and excellent place! Strongly recommended!"

  • "Service and location make this place. Our server was really attentive to our requirements (although our glasses of water went empty a couple of times). The food is adequate, although prices are very steep for what you get. Portions are generous, flavours delicious, but somewhat on the safe side. I compare it to other eateries in Downtown Hamilton, for instance Rapscallion or Culantro, where flavours are a bit more adventurous. Can't be the Mill on scenery and atmosphere though. A nice stroll after a romantic dinner made our night. We will be coming back, after we save some money, for another milestone."

  • "we had a great view of the waterfalls while we enjoyed our prix fixe lunch. we had plenty to eat with our delicious three course meal. The food was very artistically presented. a very lovely time."

  • "Amazing...Our waiter was Adam M, Adam was knowlegeable, fun, efficient, and very friendly. The food was probably amongst the best I have ever had. It was my Husbands birthday and I requested a table with view of the waterfall and it was practically perfect. Thank You!"

  • "Great Sunday brunch. Really nice setting. Not inexpensive (47$/person 23$/child) if you don't want to eat too much. Better than very good, outstanding in the context of Hamilton."

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. Beautiful property, delicious food, and superb service. Server was very attentive and kind. The only downfall was the loud music (didnt seem fitting for the ambiance). We will be back!!"

  • "We returned for a special occasion after a few years away and were not disappointed. You can't beat the view of the waterfall. The food is excellent--locally sourced and imaginatively created (check out the Beet/Lentil/Chevre salad). Great service. A very enjoyable evening."

  • "Our family of 8+ booked brunch for my daughter's graduation/birthday and we got a terrible table! There were no table clothes and it was too tight and too loud right near the buffet tables. You could move your chair to get in and out. The waiter took forever to bring us coffee. The eggs benedict were terrible with the english muffin under the egg soaked with vinegar, so i only ate the egg on top, and there was no extra hollandaise sauce on the side. BUT the rest of the food was good and everyone could find something they liked. The best part food wise is their selection of baked breads and kids love the chocolate fountain. This place is great for people with small kids, who want to blend into the noise."

  • "We recently visited the Ancaster Mill to celebrate a retirement. Took advantage of the opportunity through OpenTable to purchase flowers that were delivered ahead of time and sitting on the table when we arrived. Location is spectacular, service was wonderful, food was delicious. Overall, a perfect evening."

  • "They have a Sunday Supper share meal for $49, which seemed quite steep but then we saw how much food we got. For three people we received a large Cesar salad, meat and cheese board, two salmon steaks, 3 pieces of chicken, truffle mayo with asparagus, risotto, 9 slices of roast beef, fingerling potatoes and carrots, three sticky toffee cake with vanilla ice cream. All the food was outstanding and our waiter was very attentive."

  • "This was a gem of a find. It is located just past Hamlton in small town called Ancaster. The restaurant has an amazing ambience with view to waterfalls. The food was fabulous and the quantity is substantial we definitely had doggy bags going home. Also service was great. We had two of us who took their special which included a delicious toffee cake with ice cream and our son the 3rd person had ordered from the menu. They brought him an extra piece of cake which was quite thoughtful."

  • "We had a wonderful family-style supper. Charcuterie, Caesar salad, chicken, beef, salmon and dessert. Generous portions of each course and everything was just delicious. They even gave my lactose-intolerant son a separate dish for every course at no extra cost. When it came to dessert, we asked if we could change their selection from Sticky Toffee Pudding to Profiteroles. They said they would do better than that and gave us both - again at no extra cost. First class food, service and setting. This is our favourite spot for special occasions."

  • "Very special place for a lovely evening. Beautiful setting, excellent service and fabulous meal. Everyone was very happy with their meals, and enjoyed a unhurried, enjoyable time with the family. The setting is beautiful and tables well-spaced so you are not on top of other guests. Highly recommend The Ancaster Mill."

  • "From the time I drove into their valet parking and was greeted by the attendant to the walk around the grounds after a wonderful dining experience detail was important. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. The dining room had an amazing view of the water falls and creek. The staff were caring and the roses ordered for the occasion were placed at our seating location. The food was a highlight and staff took time to answer any questions you might have. I would definitely return."

  • "We really enjoyed our dining experience and a large part of that was due to the fabulous team work from the dining staff. There were two weddings happening on this Friday evening and yet we had a very attentive team that ensured that we were never in need of anything, yet at the same time were not obtrusive to our conversation or meal. All courses were excellent. "

  • "The lunch prie fixe menu is to die for! You get a choice of a starter, main and dessert for only $30.00. The food is prepared well and the taste is amazing! The service was also great and you simply cannot beat the view! Its very romantic!"

  • "A beautiful place to visit, the food was very tasty and plentiful. Unfortunately, my husband and I felt it was far too pricey. This will probably prevent us from visiting again for a meal."

  • "It had been several months since our last visit for brunch and there were several changes. I assume so they can seat more people. I must admit I preferred the original setup as there were less lineups and congestion. They have also stopped providing fresh fruit spreads with their delicious breads and substituted jars of prepared jams-not a great idea. Other than the Italian pork the food was delicious as usual and we came away filled to the brim. The location is excellent and the service is superior. Would still recommend to others even though I was disappointed with the fore mentioned changes."

  • "My husband and I came to celebrate the birth of our son. Our first date night out! It was wonderful. Our server, Sheean, was funny, accommodating and made our night special. We loved the Sumac Chicken and BC Halibut that we ordered as well as delicious desserts. Although Ancaster Mill is slightly more expensive then we would usually spend for a night out, it's perfect for special occasions. It's also fun to walk around the gardens after dinner! We love Ancaster Mill and have begun to make it a yearly tradition. "

  • "We visited the Ancaster Mill for Sunday brunch for the first time this past weekend, and it was absolutely stunning. From the scenic views, to the amazing selection of brunch items, there was something for everyone. The brunch seemed to have more selection than your standard brunch items, as well as complimentary mimosas. The staff was very attentive and friendly too. Although a little bit pricy, it's well worth it if you're celebrating a special occasion."

  • "Although the food is good that is to be expected because the price is a little high. I do not care for the new set up. Taking the crepes, desserts and juices out of the separate room to put in tables has caused there to be less room for food and the arrangement of the food seems to have caused more line ups to wait for food. With the new arrangement of food there seems to be a smaller variety of salads and a smaller selection of desserts. I enjoyed the views and ambiance, but would not want to be there when it was crowded."

  • "A wonderful place for weddings and anniversary celebrations. We have only good things to say about Ancaster Mill and it's staff and food :) Adam was a fantastic server."

  • "Our first visit to this restaurant. Surprised that for a Thursday, it was nearly full, including a bus trip, but the service level was as expected or better under those busy conditions, and the food was excellent. The beet root and lentil salad was outstanding, we would order that again for sure. The fish and chips (and mushy peas, etc), the fish properly cooked and very tasty, was quite a large plate, half came home with us. The best was the scallops appetizer. I try the scallops every time I get a chance wherever we dine. This plate was possibly the best I have come across in a year in Southern Ontario. We have already recommended this restaurant to others. We will be back for dinner next time. "
