  • "We celebrated our 10th anniversary with dinner at the Ancaster Mill mostly due to the "special" ambiance. As a vegetarian I wasn't expecting too much but knew that my husband would enjoy the steak. We were both blown away by the Truffle Risotto which we had as an appetizer. The chef came out with a big wheel of cheese and actually finished preparing the dish in front of us by adding the rice and other ingredients into the "cheese bowl" and stirred it up getting the flavour of the cheese in a very unique way. We got ours made with vegetarian stock and added the wild mushrooms. It was beyond delicious and very filling. We were also quite happy with the rest of our food but the risotto was worth writing home about."

  • "Location location. Beautiful setting So nice to sit at a window table and enjoy the water cascading over the rocks. We enjoyed the Sunday supper, graciously served by two polite young men. Stephanie who took our order is delightful We enjoyed the beet and lentil salad very much. The main course accompanied by fingerling potatoes, baby carrots and greens was very nice but not cordon bleu. The sticky toffee pudding was Great and the serving size just right"

  • "What a pleasure to be served by best in class servers and ten the GM himself!!! I love the mill, I ordered the rabbit and my partner the pick of the day steak. We both love the food. My wine was not available, so we ended up getting the same wine, but the 2010 bottle. But since the food and service was great, it did not matter as much."

  • "The Old Mill never fails to disappoint; have not been back since my daughter's wedding last July (which people are still saying was the best wedding food ever!!) I like to save for special occasions. The staff were outstanding, from the door greeter, to the serving staff; professional, courteous. I particularly like the ambience, in that three old friends could visit without being rushed, no pounding music, and of course the scenery is spectacular. Can't wait to see what the Landmark group does with the Elora Old Mill, another favorite, and will be on my to do list when completed. Thank you for a superb dining experience!"

  • "We have always heard great things and finally decided to check it out for ourselves. Arrived at 5:30 to find only a few tables full, so we were given our choice of seating and had a perfect view of the waterfall which was gorgeous. Food was fantastic ( I had the lamb and my wife had the chicken), and they have a great selection. It was difficult picking just one! We were there for a special occasion and received champagne on the house as well as some pre-bill desert brownies which were a nice touch. Our server (Stephani) was fantastic and attended to all our needs! We are definitely making this place our go-to for special occasions! Highly recommended."

The food was exceptional, the service was top notch, and we were impressed with the entire staff. Overall, a great experience and we will definitely return again!"

  • "I had heard a lot about the Ancaster Mill, and I know it's famous for it's view, and ambience. I imagined, like the setting, the food would be classy and elegant. And I wasn't wrong. I had a really nice soup to start, and a nice specialty drink - that they definitely didn't skimp on. I had a delicious steak dinner for two, they raise all their own beef and it was apparent, a very tasty cut of steak! However I was disappointed at the amount of sides you get for the price of the meal. I think with the dinner we got a total of 6 fingerling potatoes and 4 slices of carrot between the two of us. The service was lovely, and would probably recommend this restaurant, but would caution that you very much pay for the beautiful view."

Buffet style with a wide variety of well prepared and delicious breakfast foods, seafood, hot dishes, and desserts. Usually come with a range of family members and age groups and they always enjoy it, a consistently great experience."

  • "Overall, you definitely get what you pay for at AM. You won't find a better place for Sunday brunch. Food wad excellent and variety was super. In our opinion the service was fair, but maybe we had our expectations too high based on the reviews. The dining room outside of the main room (to the left) was quieter, but didn't offer as nice a view. If that's important to you, be sure to ask for the main dining room. Would definitely be back. I think we had found our new Sunday brunch place. Also need to try dinner. Would be a very romantic spot at night with all the candles lit outside!"

Our group of 14 felt like we were 'crammed in' to a very tight space - making it very difficult to maneuver in/around our table - often requiring us to awkwardly walk around/between other diners. We had booked for a special occasion brunch - in hindsight would have been better to have tried to reserve a more open, or at least less crowded area... Would recommend but with reservations - recommendations to try and avoid our situation"

Someone came by only once to ask if we wanted refills on drinks, when we sat with empty glasses for majority of our visit. I wouldn't think too much of it, but other tables around us were receiving great service while we were being ignored, quite upsetting."

There is usually a special dinner menu including a choice if started, main and dessert for a reasonable price. Meals are well worth their value. The staff is always exceeding expectations with friendly and entertaining service. The dining area is romantic and scenic with a gorgeous view of a waterfall. I've recommended this restaurant to friends and family and always heard positive feedback from their experiences as well. The Old Mill is a great place for a special occasion or to take guests from out of town."

The scene was wonderful (they gave us a window table by the waterfall as requested) and the food was wonderful. We had a 9:30 table reservation because it was a busy evening. There was quiet live music in the background but we could talk easily. Everything was delightful!"

  • "A favourite restaurant of ours, and our service was exceptional as usual. We finished our bread plate appetizer, and it was completely re-filled with hummus and everything, free of charge. Not a massive deal, but as a server I love all of the little things like that. The Ancaster Old Mill always does everything they can to make my dining experience pleasant, and I will be back soon. Unfortunately, I can'd afford to go every week, but I will be back soon!"

We were also shocked to see you now charge $5.00 for bread! The last place I thought would charge for bread. If I am going to pay for bread -I want it hot- and more than a few slices."
