A word from Anassa Taverna
This bi-level space is meant to evoke the Greek seashore, with warm weathered colors and decorative jewelry that's also for sale.

Menu includes Mediterranean classics as a Greek salad, grilled lamb chops and a swordfish kebab. There's a raw bar, and daily specials that might include veal stew or slow-cooked pork shoulder.

I had my second lunch today at Anassasa Tavern. From the fresh bread and bean spread to the crisp salad with grilled shrimp ( we shared an authenticly delicious Greek salad, no salad as a filler) all the food looks yummy

My husband and I just moved into the neighborhood and Love this spot!! Food is So Fresh and Delicious! Service is On Top of It and very sweet. The DJ plays amazing music on weekends - it was a little loud but we asked them to lower it and they did immediately. Will definitely hitting this spot up a lot :) PS - their feta cheese is pasteurized for sweet prego women :)

There was a bit of a dance club soundtrack at this restaurant, which was very distracting and not really very fitting. But overall it was an excellent meal. The octopus appetizer was fantastic, as was the service.

Outstanding Greek, fantastic menu, fast service. The octopus and squash and eggplant chips were outstanding (and I don't even like eggplant). Have been here several times with friends and family and always amazed at quality of food. Go upstairs for a slightly quieter ambience.

Super grilled octopus...homemade skirdahlua, tzaziki, and eggplant speads...;) Delicious Greek white wine choices, and the Sepia is very special, when available...Their meatballs are a treat, but the spinach pie is a pass...rather have one of the four heavenly Greek salads...

The East 60's, once a food wasteland, has become a hot bed of fine Greek food. The food is simple, interesting, and most important, delicious. The service is attentive without being intrusive. The menu offers sufficient choices to please everyone. A particular favorite were the Lamb Chops holding a rich surprise, and the crab cake appetizer. Everything was perfect and I will be recommending Anassa Taverna to friends.

My husband is a dentist and he told me one of his patients was a manager in a Greek restaurant, so we went for dinner, upon our arrival we were greeted with a warm welcome, they sat us promptly, Our meals were well-prepared and wonderfully delicious - my husband's Octopus appetizer was particularly superb. His choice of succulent lamb chops and my seafood risotto were wonderful. Desserts were great too! Service was impeccable and very attentive. thank you Roberto, you made us feel very special. we will be back!

Went with friends after a day of shopping over the holiday weekend. The setting was great (right across the street from Bloomingdales) and the staff was friendly and in no hurry. Tried lots of appetizers and the oysters were a big hit with my friends. Overall, the portions are enormous and everyone was stuffed by the end. Definitely beats waiting on line for a table at a neighborhood tourist trap.

The food was good but the service was a bit slow. We had to ask for bread several times before it came. The website says there is a price fixe but it doesn't say anywhere that the special price only applies to lunch on Monday through Friday (and on top of that, some items on the price fixe are extra fees, but you wouldn't know that unless you download the menu on your computer...it doesn't reveal the extra charge on the website itself). We picked this restaurant specifically because of the price fixe, so you can imagine our surprise when it turned out it wasn't available on Sunday for dinner! The rest of the menu was very pricey, so we would not have chosen this restaurant had they been more upfront about the price fixe on line.

I took my mom here for lunch during her visit into Manhattan and could not have been happier. The restaurant amazing. The atmosphere had a rustic European vibe, the food prepared perfectly, and the drinks were lovely. I had the stuffed grilled calamari, and octopus which was delicious. My mom had Saganaki and the warm seafood salad...brilliant flavor! The staff was kind and extremely attentive. I can't wait to return for another delicious meal.

The food is good; the service excellent. The prices are reasonable. But can only recommend if you are looking to dine in one of the noise st restaurants on earth. Street noise; customers talking and to add to it all a dj. Not a place to go to for any reason as spoiled by noise.

Finally a delicious dinner, a vibrant restaurant and consistent service in this location! I have been here a dozen times and each time the fish is fresh and simply prepared. The most delicious appetizer is the zucchini and eggplant chips- so thin and very lightly fried . There is a nice buzz- busy but not so loud that you can't visit with friends. A winner all around! we had an amazing dinner Saturday night, all appetizers and main courses were terrific, wine by the bottle was perfectly chilled, i have nothing negative to say about our experience, we definitely coming back to try the rest of the menu. I like the fact that everyone is treated the same way, i noticed the manager Roberto talking to the millionaire Mr Welch (he must be a regular here), then he came to our table and starting conversing about the notable wine list and the success of the restaurant, very well dressed and great personality too. we love this place!! thank you!!!
