Diner Reviews
  • "One of our favorite places. Great food and service, fun place for brunch, lunch or dinner."
    Dined on 7/7/2014
  • "My wife and I were pleased that Urban Tables was one of very few restaurants open this Fourth of July. It is a place that we enjoy for brunch, lunch or dinner. This time we shared two out of their eight bruschetta appetizers on the menu; the smoked salmon and the brie with strawberry butter-both very tasty. I had the fish and chips for an entrée while my wife had a salad and soup combo...all very tasty. The fish and chips dish consisted of three large pieces of fish served with malt vinegar and their own tar-tar-like sauce on the side, slaw and lots of crispy fries. A good choice."

  • "We made a reservation and when we arrived promptly seated. Waiter was quick and friendly. Drinks were promptly served and order taken. I ordered grouper and was very disappointed. There might have been 2oz of fish and one piece of asparagus. It was like eating an appetizer, priced like a main course. My Wife's dinner was similar, four small shrimp and little else. We both agreed that we will never go back and a little sad because it could be so much more in that location."

  • "We always love The Urban Table for its food, funkiness, open air during appropriate seasons and friendly service. We were recently seated near the kitchen, however, and the noise level was too high for normal conversation."

  • "The food was delicious & the atmosphere was relaxed. Location was perfect - It was a great place for lunch with co-workers."

  • "This was my second visit within the first week. Great seasonal risottos! The Tuesday night 2/$20 special on seasonal plates. The bruschettas are excellent! Also take advantage of their Tuesday night wine special $20/bottle for a Pinot Noir or Chardonney. I look forward to a return visit!"

  • "Great gray and white color scheme, great decor not to mention great food! I visited for the first time for Fathers Day and we loved it. We will be back!"

  • "We loved the Father's Day brunch we had at Urban Table. The choices were great and the server was very friendly. We would recommend this to others who are in the KC region."

  • "More casual area but very great restarount to eat at. Must try the grilled doughnuts."

  • "Lots of tasty fries with golden cod fillets. Lightly battered."

  • "A group of 8 of us got together for Brunch at Urban Table. The portions are somewhat small although aren't portions out of control everywhere else? Anyway the food was interesting and artistic. I would recommend the breakfast tacos of the day and the Bloody Mary. Both were excellent!"

  • "One of my local gems for lunch and breakfast, our waitress was very accommodating and the food recommendations were outstanding. The KC Butcher hanger steak was cooked to perfection and had great fixings! Also, the crispy brussel sprouts was delish!"

  • "We brought our out of town relatives and their four year old. I was a little worried for him but wanted them to enjoy a meal not so kid centric. The kid menu was perfect and the colors and coloring occupied the four year old perfectly. The banquette seating worked well too. My salmon was not overcooked and very tasty. The Hanger steak was well received. The potato bacon soup and massive sandwich multiple meat sandwich were good too. Portions are NOT stingy. They were training a new server and it went well."

  • "We recently met friends at Urban Table to celebrate our Anni-birthday (our anniversary and my birthday which fall on the same day). We always look forward to starting the meal with the bruschetta followed by a wonderful dinner; our server was both friendly and attentive. We were rewarded, as usual."

  • "I have been wanting to try Urban Table since a friend recommended the restaurant more than a year ago. The food was good, portion size just right, and the service good. The server was attentive, but not overbearing. I will recommend this restaurant and return myself when in town again."

  • "We were really disappointed with our food. My morning potatoes were nothing but burnt skins and my daughters Monte Cristo sandwich was not cooked thoroughly and that made it soggy. We will not return."

  • "Food was good service was ok. Way too loud for my taste. "

  • "breakfast menu offerings are unique, well prepared and presented. Coffee is good quality blend."

  • "This was our second visit to Urban Table for brunch and we were unfortunately again disappointed by the incredibly slow pace. While the food is pretty good and reservations are honored for quick seating, pacing is very poor - on our most recent visit we waited 30 minutes after placing our order, watching a number of tables come and go, before our server came by to let us know that the kitchen was "a little backed up". When our food finally arrived, bacon was borderline raw. "

  • "We celebrated a birthday on evening of 5/13/14. Food was wonderful! Server left something to be desired. Several of us in the industry also. Server did not do a good job of explaining anything to us. Never filled water, Usually leave a 20%+ tip. This time only left 15%. :("

  • "If you want to be wowed by the food then Urban Table is where you want to eat. Good selections and great wines. Waiters also have a good knowledge of wines which will enhance the diner's experience. The food choices are interesting and, more than that, great tasting. Going there on a holiday, such as Mother's Day, might be a mistake if you wish to talk to your co-diners. The noise level could be a disadvantage to your experience. I would like to try it on a quieter day, although I wonder if there is such a thing. This is one of the best restaurants I've visited in a long while and my guess would be there might not be a "down time" in this place. :)"

  • "Love Urban Table -our fave neighborhood place. Unfortunately, Mother's Day was not good. Reservations at 9:45' mom arrived before I did and with many tables empty, they sat her next to kitchen. She asked for a different table but was told they would not be able to. When brunch arrived, menu she got scrambled eggs, not fried. My husband ordered hangar steak and eggs. Everything was cold except his toast. Great place to hang out for my husband and I but not too good if you want to visit because of the noise level. Being by the kitchen was bad."

  • "I took my mom here for Mother's brunch and we were both blown away. The atmosphere was sleek modern and the food was cooked to perfection. This was totally a neighbor gem, I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a nice upscale modern place. "

  • "I made a reservation for Mother's Day. Unfortunately, we had no idea that it would be REQUIRED that we order of the prix fixe Mother's Day menu, which was $30 per person. Our server was very nice, so we left him a tip and went elsewhere. The idea of a prix fixe menu is nice for holidays, but there should be other options for unsuspecting customers."

  • "Overall, Urban Table had great services and ambience but the food was awful. The risotto was very bland. I wouldnt recommend it. "
    Dined on 5/10/2014
  • "This hip place has mediocre food and is so noisy it's hard to talk. The crowd is mostly young. The service was good. We had to send the grilled shrimp back cause it wasn't done. The salad dressing had no flavor. "

  • "I love the atmosphere and vibe at urban table. The food was very good but nothing too original. The best quality at urban table is the service. One of the best waiters I've ever had and the other people I was dining with agreed. The service was relaxed but efficient and very friendly. "

  • " The waitress was wonderful and we were never rushed. I was disappointed by my short ribs, they were dry and overdone. The pablano grits and brussels sprouts were excellent, and the flourless chocolate cake was to die for. My companions loved the hanger steak. I was disappointed by the lack of sides for children as well as the absence of a child friendly dessert."

  • "We really enjoyed our meal and are thankful for a good breakfast/brunch/lunch spot available in Prairie Village. I'm glad we had reservations b/c the restaurant was busy and buzzing when we arrived. Big fan of the daytime menu, not big on dinner as much in comparison."

  • "Breakfast is our favorite meal any time of day and we really had a great experience at An Urban Table. Great service, food was hot, coffee refilled without asking. We'll go back as often as possible!"
    Dined on 4/26/2014
  • "it was great that we could get reservations. Price was a bit over the top my glass of wine was $9. I had the risotto with chicken and it was very good, however there again price was high. My husband needed more items to choose from. We will probably not be back. For 2 drinks and risotto and one appetizer our bill was over $69, I know you have a Tuesday special but we eat out on weekends and live clear across town."

  • "We love An Urban Table and visit it often. The Hanger Steak is one of the best I've ever had and that's not a statement to be taken lightly. The staff is great, the food excellent and consistent, and the atmosphere is comfortable. Two thumbs up from this guy. "

  • "I've been to Urban Table several times for brunch of lunch and it was a great pick. Terrific salads and brunch items! So, we gave it a try for dinner with a party of 7. First of off, at 7:15 p.m., the kitchen was already out of two of the specials. Then, we waited a loooooooong time for dinner. When asked for bread to go with salads, it came after we were midway through our entrees. Last but not least, the sound level wasn't "energetic." Rather, it was soooooooo loud that you could barely hear the person across the table from you. "

  • "We had the chicken and gnocchi. Very good. Napa salad is excellent. Deviled eggs (bacon, celery) a must. Nice rose too"

  • "Our server was great, the food was pretty good but nothing special. We enjoyed ourselves and most likely we will try it again just to make sure the food was less than expected due to the chaos of Easter brunch. "
