It is a little pricey. But mist special occasions are :)5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent as always!I had lunch at Amuse before theatre with my husband and two teenagers. I had the crab cake with fried green tomatoes. The items on the side enhanced the wonderful crab cake. The service was attentive and not overbearing. A wonderful experience for all.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMSecond ChancesWe've tried Amuse previously and not been impressed. You've changed. Eat outside if at all possible. The menu seems to feature local ingredients, and the desserts are well-chosen and delicious. We will be going back often.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect LunchMy husband and I enjoyed another wonderful lunch experience at Amuse. The food never disappoints. Appetizers of mussels, oysters and gazpacho were excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed our scallop entrees. All food was perfectly cooked, service was great and the view was gorgeous on this spring day. Afterwards, we enjoyed the Tom Wesselmann Pop Art Exhibit. Thank you VMFA.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMFood just not that greatUnfortunately I had the scallops which were overlooked and a little dry. The champagne vinegarette on the salad was to much like straight vinegar . My friend liked the parsley soup and crab cake.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMAn impressive lunch spotWith great service, very good food, and a fantastic view, you just can't go wrong with Amuse!5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyable the First TimeI'm a fan of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, and I'm delighted the museum has a top-tier restaurant. I loved the parsley soup.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMReviewIt was a nice venue . I was hoping for slightly better food..it wasn't bad it just wasnt special. The overall experience was pretty good. Good service and food is all you can expect at a restaurant and they delivered on both ends.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMAmusedOur lunch at the VMFA was delightful. Starting with a herb laden Focaccia served with an unsalted whipped butter, I had the Manakintowne mixed greens salad and P.E.I. steamed mussels. Both were quite nice with garbanzos distinguishing the salad and sausage bits adding to the Parmesan dusted steamed mussels. My sister had the lump crab cake which was served atop, and capped with a pankin encrusted fried yellow tomato. We shared a dessert of of what i assumed to be a traditional Tres Leche cake which was the only low point of our meal. It was somewhat dry and uninspired.
I would rate our overall experience a solid "A" The ambiance and service were exceptional. Sinclair5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely restaurantHowever Friday evening at 7:30 though not apparently full or rushed, service was not up to par. it was slow and disjointed. Cocktails ordered after before the meal were but slow to arrive, and when delivered arrived almost simultaneously with the appetizer. There was quite a long unexpected and unexplained wait for the entree. When the entrees arrived and were eaten, we were ready to flee without dessert or coffee.
we know this is not the norm5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMBusiness LunchAmuse is a great place for a business lunch as it offers superior ambience, quiet setting for discussions, great food selections and superior service.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect outdoor dinningThe perfect weather 72 sunny the perfect lunch. Out of town guest were so impressed with Amuse and our wonderful new renovated museum and especially all the art work that is now on view. We dined on the patio with the best of the best views of the outdoor water features and garden.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMA great restaurant week experienceA group of 6 of us went to Amuse for restaurant week. Most of us ordered pre-dinner cocktails while we looked over the menu, all of which were delicious! Of the appetizers, my favorite was the fried oysters a friend ordered, with my own white bean soup a close second. The warm potato & leek soup was a nice change from traditional vichyssoise. All three men in our group ordered the pork confit croquette, a great choice, as it was tender and meaty yet crispy from the coating. My husband was fighting me off his plate. My scallops were cooked perfectly, and more importantly, CLEANED perfectly, which I haven't always found even in Richmond's upscale seafood places. Lastly, I would eat the tres leches cake every day if I could. Wonderful time!4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a good place to goAlways a good place to go for great food prepared in non-traditional ways.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMExceptional museum diningInteresting menu. Very friendly staff made us forget about delay in serving main.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMFood and presentation excellent.Food and presentation excellent. Imaginative menu. A little noisy. Please find more comfortable chairs and not quite so low to ground (difficult for those of us on the short side).3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMI've been to Amuse many times,I've been to Amuse many times, but this was the first time for brunch, on Easter. I loved the menu choices. Two special appetizers - rabbit pâté and deviled eggs with caviar - were terrific. Service was great, as always. And I was thrilled to see Conundrum Red on the wine list. Cocktails were good and creative. Food was fresh and properly prepared. I have to admit that I was worried when I heard that they were only open two nights per week (lunch everyday) however my concerns were for not. We will be back. I would highly suggest background music. It would add to the wonderful atmosphere.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of Richmond's top restaurants. One of Richmond's top restaurants. Their only improvement would be to be open more evenings.1/26/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is a delightful diningThis is a delightful dining choice anytime but particularly after having enjoyed events at the Museum. The food and service are always quite good. We do find it a little pricey but we are never disappointed in what we get.1/10/2013 12:00:00 AMDine here if you're at the museumAfter reading glowing reviews on Trip Advisor, this was a natural choice to accompany an overnight trip to Richmond to see the Dale Chihuly glass exhibit at the museum. I loved the floor to ceiling windows, overlooking the grounds, modern esthetic (the Wedgewood stainless flatware and great dishes) and of course, the food. The pear nectar-Galliano and champagne cocktail was sublime and my beau liked the local VA hard cider. We had the fried oysters on a yogurt raita (delicious), creamy fennel soup (could have used more seasoning), pork belly with red pepper coulis (yum) and the crab cake with apple slaw. It took longer to receive our main courses than we would have liked (we had timed tickets to the exhibit) but it worked out.11/24/2012 12:00:00 AM
