Diner Reviews
  • "I think Amsterdam is best at lunch time, as we have done often. Our dinners were decent but not outstanding. The calamari was not crispy though the sauce was good. The waitress was excellent."

  • "Very good restaurant to visit in Auburn. In my last experience, the food was very good and the service was excellent. The only drawback was the noise level. My guests and I thought the music that was played was quite loud, which made it difficult to have a fluid dialogue at the table."

  • "It has been a while since I had the chance to eat at Amsterdam Cafe, but it was as great as it ever has been. The food is absolutely fantastic, the service top notch, and the experience as wonderful as ever!"

  • "My wife and I always feel the need to try the dinner entre on the special menu and we are always let down. Stick with the sandwiches or wraps. They are great."

  • "Highly recommend Amsterdams. From their turkey wraps during the day to the smoke trout at night, everything is absolutely delicious!"

  • "Amsterdam consistently provides a great experience! The lobster wonton rolls were fabulous, the main entrees cooked perfectly, and you simply must try the blueberry + black pepper creme brulee for dessert. The wine list was fairly extensive (for a little farm-to-table restaurant in Auburn, AL) and the service was superb."

  • "We went for my hubby's birthday lunch, and our cozy table was ready when we arrived. We like the new summer menu. Hubby had basil pesto pasta with shrimp, and I had crispy fish tacos. Everything was very good, and our server was attentive. This place remains one of our favs. Highly recommend!"

  • "Creative menu. Great flavors in food. Caesar salad was a bit ordinary and uninspiring though. And a bit pricey. But Good atmosphere and wine list too."

  • "The food was good. The black-eyed pea hummus was tasty and there was more than 3 of us could eat. I had the pork chop with collards and mac and cheese. The mac and cheese was excellent and there was a lot of it. The pork chop had good flavor but was on the verge of being dry, I asked for the temperature to be medium. The collards were a little bland. My wife had the chicken and dumplings, which is not the typical chicken and dumplings one might expect (this is explained on the menu). It was a roasted half chicken and ricotta gnudi with some gravy and collard greens. It was delicious, better than my dish. The other member of our party had the duck with cous cous. I didn't taste it, but she seemed to enjoy it."

  • "When the long time chef left the place went down hill. It has struggled with the new chef. Many favorites were removed off the menu. Lately things have improved. I did not have a chance to see if there is a new chef. "

  • "The food was really excellent. You would not expect to find such a great restaurant in a quiet neighborhood setting. Our favorite restaurant in Alabama!! Recommended "

  • "Great atmosphere, delicious food. Variety of choices to fit any taste. We have dined at Amsterdams twice. Loved the crab cakes at lunch the first visit, yellow fin tuna for dinner the second visit. Husband had salmon, excellent as well. Dined once in the back area that has contemporary decor. The second time we requested outside for our anniversary. Very nice atmosphere, especially outside. Both times the food and service were excellent. Cam was our server and he is the best! He introduced me to new wines and offered perfect food advise upon request. John, his busser, was equally gracious and both knew ther food and service. Highly recommend whether it be for special occasion, brunch or lunch. "

  • "Great for our BIrthday dinner for 7. Wonderful service and we especailly appreciated that you allowed us to bring in our own birthay cake and kept it in the fridge for us. "

  • "I order the porkchop entree but replaced the chop with salmon. I was not pleased with the mac&cheese. It lacked flavor (needed more than salt)so I only ate about 1/3 of it. The fried apples were also a bummer. However, the collards were wonderful! The salmon was OK. The dill sauce did very little to enhance the experience with the salmon. Overall, my meal was not very good."
