Diner Reviews
  • "I took my wife to Amore Victoria for a Valentines date. I was recommended by friends at work, and after reading reviews made a reservation. We started with drinks, Sangria for my wife and a beer out of Virginia for me. Both were very good. We then added the garlic cheese bread with marinara. This was on a thin crisp french bread and with the house made marinara was delicious. A perfect starter. We then split the insalata Di Genoveva Salad. This was very fresh and had a nice light raspberry dressing. The chicken was tender, dried cherries were wonderfully sweet, and the candied walnuts were a perfect sweet crunch! My wife ordered the Rosa di Pesto. She very much enjoyed it! I had the Fettuccine Delia Nonna. Also very good!"

  • "We haven't visited Amore Victoria in awhile but were glad we returned. The food is just great and so is the service. Constant influx of people so that's a sign I'm not the only one to enjoy this restaurant.."

  • "The food is excellent. We enjoyed all the dishes. The wine list is interesting-enjoyed the selection that came with the Living Social deal. We'll be going back this summer to enjoy the rooftop deck and the GREAT Italian fare."

  • "WE have been here a number of times and have always been pleased. We always leave thinking that we had a very good experience. The food is very good and it is a distinctive place that feels special. If you want mass fed italian go to Olive Garden. if you want something special, come here.."

  • "We've eaten here several times and our food is always delicious... However, the salmon they offer is very fishy! Does not taste very fresh. From someone who loves salmon, I felt that they served it with lots of sauce and rice to cover taste of the fishiness... Just an FYI. It's a beautiful place and very fun to go to!"

  • "Some friends highly recommended this place, so I thought I would try it out. I show up at 730 for a 730 reservation and was told the wait is 20 minutes for reservations. Friends told me this was normal for this place. Got a drink at the bar and got seated around 15 minutes. We got sat in a nice corner by the window. Our server took around 10 minutes to get to the table to greet us, didnt give us a hello, just asked if we were ready to order anything... Its okay, it was my first time here, I didnt want to hear about the restaurant or the food, or specials. We ended up ordering the meatballs (2) for $8, and they were pretty small for being $4 each. We also ordered the bruchetta which was even more disappointing. For $9 we got 3 little triangl"

  • "We went here for the restaurant week special and there were so many problems, 1. With a reservation, we still waited 45 minutes to get seated. 2. Once we were seated, we were seated at the smallest table known to man, not even in the restaurant. There was no place to put my jacket or my purse, which I guess wasn't such a bad thing considering the table was RIGHT next to the door that was open all night long. We were freezing. 3. Terrible deal. I ordered the muscles for the appetizer. I got 3 total muscles. THREE. My entree was 5 bites of meat. PICK A DIFFERENT RESTAURANT FOR RESTAURANT WEEK. All other restaurants I've been to, you get the regular portions and you don't leave angry and hungry."

  • "Went on a Friday night and it was packed and it is super small in there. Our reservation was for 8 pm and we stood crammed in the small entrance way (because there was nowhere else to stand), freezing a every time the door opened. We got there at 7:45 and by 8:30 (after putting up with being pushed around by the 30 other people in the same position) they still had not gotten to the people who had 7:30 reservations. We ended up deciding it was not worth the wait any longer and left. Would have loved to try it though. They need to get more organized and maybe not make SO many reservations for one night so this doesn't happen."

  • "I really like veal, so was very disappointed that the red sauce completely overwhelmed the taste of the meal. Even the tiramisu was kinda soggy. No reason to return."

  • "My boyfriend and I went here his week for dinner during Restaurant Week. We each were able to choose an app, entree, and dessert for $30 per person. Everything was truly great -- but the gnocchi appetizer was to die for. It was perfectly fluffy and chewy with a cream cream sauce and pistachio to add some texture. We also ordered a dish with veal and a white wine and garlic sauce that was just heavenly. All of the noodles we had were so fresh and tasty. It was definitely a deal to go during RW - but we hope to go back again in the summer to enjoy the rooftop patio. I have already told many of my friends and colleagues to give this place a shot."

  • "Very good food. Seemed a little crammed together at the tables, but worth it. A little expensive for drinks, but we ordered the bartender's choice where you choose the liquor and the bartender makes the drink. We paid for it at the tab and the next day, but they were delicious and we'd go back again."

  • "We went to enjoy the restaurant week specials and everything was excellent. We will no doubt be back again. The food: muscles, pot roast, and bread was excellent. Thank you for a wonderful evening."

  • "I went here with my boyfriend for their restaurant week special. The food was amazing (especially the cheese platter...not on the restaurant week menu) and the music was set to a love-themed station (it was Pandora so occasionally ads would play...you'd think they could afford the $40/year subscription). The entrees were big and delicious and the overall atmosphere was really nice. Mood lighting, cool decorations, there was olive oil on the table. The only downsides to our experience were the restaurant week desserts which were quite underwhelming. The tiramisu was soggy and the cannoli didn't have much ricotta. But I think that was an issue confined to the restaurant week menu. Our waitress was also impersonal, but I doubt that's the norm."

  • "A group of us went on Valentine's Day for a birthday. They seated us at the front. It place was packed. The people at our table sitting by the aisle were bumped every few seconds and people waiting were basically standing at our table. It was so loud you couldnt have a conversation. It was so full the front door was often open. They had too have been over capacity The food was awful. The first course we chose brussel sprouts & gnocchi. The brussel sprouts were hard, and almost impossible to eat. The gnocchi were mushy dough balls. The soup was cold. When it came back it was room temperature. We never made it to the main course because one of the people in our party is claustrophobic & couldnt handle the crowd that was pressed up behind her"

  • "We've driven past this restaurant for years, always mentioning the need to check it out. We did so this past Saturday and decided it was a real shame we haven't discovered this restaurant before. The food is truly outstanding (try the pistachio gnocchi!), the service was good, the waiter was friendly and knowledgeable about the entire menu, the ambiance was charming, and the prices are reasonable. I have the veal piccata, which was excellent, and hubster had the pork osso buco, which was also really flavorful. Now we know the portions are substantial, so we will order less food the next time, but for a first visit, it was fun to try as many dishes as we did. The olive/cheese plate was really done right too! We'll be back!"

  • "Amore Victoria always has very good food with a large variety. Good wine and appetizer selection. The service seems a bit slow no matter how busy the restaurant is, but this time it was very good. If you go early it is good for a date, or with friends and you can talk easily. However, if you go after 6pm it seems to get so loud that it's hard to hear the person sitting next to you."

  • "We had fabulous food and overall enjoyed our dining experience. IN reading reviews ahead of time it sounded like this would be a place we could easily converse, even on a Saturday night. But that was not the case. We were there on a Saturday around 6:30. We had a reservation but still had to wait a short while for a table. But the biggest concern was the noise level and a problem with the lights. They kept going up higher and then completely out in one section. We would go back for the food but probably a weekday to see if the noise is more tolerable."

  • "My boyfriend and I went to Amore for valentines day. We tried calling ahead for the menu however even the day before they said they had not made it. When we got there it was very cramped. I read online it was a romantic place however I don't find sitting at the same booth as another couple or right next to 5 other couples in a small room romantic when you can hear everyone's conversation. Then we asked the server about the menu, upset the gnocchi was not listed as an entrée option. He knew nothing about what dishes were on the menu when I asked for his recommendation. It was obvious he recieved the menu probably 5 minutes before his shift. I love this place however they did a terrible job accommodating for valentines day."

  • "On Valentine's Day. More my fault than theirs. The restaurant was so crowded and loud that it lost its charm. Menu was over priced and food was fair. Waiter was so busy that service was rote. I should have anticipated that most restaurants on ValDay would have been the same."

  • "When we walked in for our reservation, I noted to the hostess that I forgot to indicate on my Open Table reservation that my husband has trouble hearing when it gets louder. Without hesitation they put us in the little "love" nook in back where we could still be part of the ambience and still have a conversation. More reasons to keep coming back!"

  • "We went to Amore because it was close to our home and because we heard good things from friends. We made a late reservation on purpose to avoid the crazy busy crowds for Valentines Day and because it was a Friday. We booked a 9:45 reservation. We finally sat down at 10:30 The menu was a special Valentines Day menu and I have to say was quite versatile. The first 2 courses were great. We enjoyed them very much. The entree's were well prepared and good but we were served at 11:20 so it was late to say the least. We finally got to the dessert choices around 11:45 They were out of several choices including the ones we wanted. The server was very nice and definitely apologetic which I appreciated. Overall it was pretty disappointing."

  • "Normally, I would not try a new place on a busy night, but there was no issue this time. We had wonderful, attentive service and delicious food in a festive atmosphere. We can't wait to go back soon-so many great looking dishes to try!"

  • "A night out with my girlfriend. We decided to give this restaurant a try; first visit for me not for my girlfriend. The place has a lots of room to seating. We enjoyed the environment; it was romantic and the food and service was great. There was a small incident, the lights when out in the area we were seating, but this incident made it romantic as we had our dinner under candle lights. The food was great and the menu has a lots of choices. We are definitely coming back to the place. I learned that during the summer time they have a outside seating area."

  • "Had reservations for 9:30pm on Valentine's day. It was very busy and the front end was packed with people standing around, waiting to be seated. Since it was a special day we were told they were behind and that we may have to wait for about 30 minutes for a table. That was understandable, however, any other day it may not have been. After we were seated we waited a while for our server to take our drink order, but she was very helpful in offering suggestions on the menu and accommodated our food allergy requests. Appetizers, soups and main course were all phenomenal, as was the desert. With the restaurant being as busy as it was, we did have to wait a bit longer between each course. Once again, understandable. Overall it excellent."

  • "Normally you go out on Valentine's day and you get mediocre food with horrible service. Regardless, we figured we would try. My wife and I were pleasantly surprised how Amore Victoria had so much staff running around that we were easily taken care of. The menu was pared down, but they still let you choose from 3 appitizers, 2 soups or a salad, roughly 20 different entrees (which each of them looked amazing), and about 5 desserts. So much nicer than the typical Valentine's offerings. Because the food and service were so good, we will definitely go back some other time to try their normal menu. I don't know if the veal marco polo or their stuffed chicken (rosa something) are mainstays on the menu, but if so, do not hesitate to try either."

  • "Needed to find an uncommon spot to take a client group that was unique and certainly nailed it with Amore V. Warm, authentic ambiance, huge menu with typical south and northern Italian fare - large variety. Everyone's meal looked amazing and enjoyed my Frutti Di Mare. The baked Gnochi was a nice app for 4. What gives it the charm isn't just in the old furnishings and antiques but more the social vibe and disco music. Yes, disco music playing lightly in the background at an Italian restaurant! Trust me - it works. An Uptown Gem if the experience is consistent."

  • "I was celebrating Valentines Day a week early by surprising my special someone with reservations at Amore Victoria and upon letting them know this, they reserved an incredibly intimate table in their individual "dining cove" that was separated from the other dining areas. I thought this was an incredible move on the restaurant's part and I--along with my date--were both very impressed. Bravo for going above and beyond Amore!"
