AmmaBest Indian food on both coastsWe have looked high and low and this place has the best Indian food around. Only gripe is the wine list leaves much to be desired and the food is expensive. But, we won't go anywhere else. The best.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMAmma continues to serve refined,Amma continues to serve refined, upscale Indian food in a small, lovely setting with extremely attentive service. Prices are higher than most Indian restaurants, but worth it. Don't let the shabby menus give you the wrong impression.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food but small portionsNice atmosphere, good service, delicious food but relatively expensive and very small portions.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways excellent food, service OKCrave the Spinach Chaat, Goan Fish Curry, Manchurian Cauliflower and the crispy okra. Take friends and out of towners there and everyone agrees it's the cleanest, tastiest they've had. It's crowded and noisy tho but worth it. Have had to wait for a table even with a reservation which is annoying.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMBest kept secret!Amma is my favorite Indian restaurant in NYC. The dishes are perfectly balanced and flavorful. Every single thing I've tried on the menu has been tasty and interesting–infused rices (mint, lemon and tomato), mint paratha and the Paneer Kundan Kaaliya that is addictive!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMBest indian restaurant ever!Their menu is slightly pricey, but believe me that it is 100% worth every penny. The food is traditional, yet has a fresh new vibe to it at the same time. Impeccable ingredients made every bite one you wanted to savour for hours! The service was extraordinary, the waiters being extremely friendly and ready to assist you at any given moment. It was quaint and classy -- the perfect place for any occasion!5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMFood isn't everything.Everything we ate was delicious, but our table was in a dark hole near the kitchen We were promised another table when it became available. Unfortunately, the hostess did not keep her word.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were so happy having aWe were so happy having a fabulous time with fantastic food, wonderful services and amazing atmosphere at Amma where is our most favourite place in Manhattan.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Indian in NYCOur friends from India agree that Amma has the best Indian food in NYC. Attractive decor, a peaceful environment with solicitous service complement the food. Try the Goan fish curry, any sea bass specialties, expertly prepared lamb dishes, crispy okra in yogurt, Peshawar naan, and fabulous cocktails. We have been here on multiple occasions and will return again.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMI always love this restaurant. ThiI always love this restaurant.

We had the tasting menu and since we both don't eat sea food they've replaced some of the dishes for us. The only downer was that it was very expensive. Their wine list is expensive. We paid 147 dollar plus tip for 2 tasting menues, 2 glasses of wine and 2 beers but we would go back for special occasions.4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMWarm and comfortable staff and spacDelicious Dahl mahkni and lamb rogan josh was well balanced.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways wonderful...Romantic, delicious food , never disappointing...can't wait to go back again!3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Indian restaurant in NYCBeen to India several times and have had some great Indian food. Amma will rank among the top whether in India or NYC. The only negative is the tight space. Amma needs to find a bigger space or reduce the number of tables to give a little more space between tables. Best vindaloo !3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMSophisticated Indian in NYCAbsolutely one of the finest Indian meals I've had anywhere in the states or the UK!
Delicately choreographed flavors, fine tableside service, homey, intimate ambiance.

Some would say yes. It's certainly one of the top 2 in my book, and without question the best for traditional dishes. As my dining companion noted, you can absolutely taste in every bite the layers of flavors that could only be achieved by slowly blending the spices. We were wondering what time in the morning the chefs come in... The restaurant week menu was fabulous, with many choices. We loved the fish dishes, but the chicken could not have been better as well. And the 4 courses (unusual for restaurant week - almost everyplace else does 3) gave you a wonderful assortment of tastes. Bravo Amma, again.1/30/2013 12:00:00 AMfit for maharajasjust back from a month in India and back at my favorite NYC Indian restaurant. Delicacy and authenticity of flavors is unrivalled, as is the unusually excellent wine list.1/9/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing food. I'd go backAmazing food. I'd go back again and again.
