A word from Amici Ristorante
Amici Ristorante is locally owned and operated by Dave & Diane Carpenter and George & Patty Donato. Together they have run the current restaurant for some time as Mammoni’s Italian Restaurant with much success and thought it was time to give the establishment an appropriate name to reflect the story behind the two couples lifelong friendship.

Since its opening the restaurant has managed to gain some local notoriety, becoming known for offering authentic and innovative Italian dishes. The menu includes grilled steaks, seafood, veal and pastas and a wide selection of wines. Complimented by a full service bar, they are confident you’ll enjoy your dining experience in Amici’s comfortable and moderately upscale setting.

Diner Reviews
  • "The menu is a bit overworked with all types of extravagent entries that don't quite fill the bill. Would be better as a local pasta house with the basic Italian dishes. My veal dish had a very sugary (?) flavor to it and the veal was overcooked. Have eaten here twice now - servers are always very nice and attentive but the food is a bit disappointing."

  • "Very friendly staff. Service was great. Always nice to be greeted by the chef and the owners. Joe, our waiter was awesome! He made good recommendations off the menu. He was very friendly and on top of things. Was there at the table in a timely manner when we needed or wanted something. Even some of the other staff help wait on us. The Tap Room next door is always a fun place to hang out and unwind after dinner or any other night. Serving staff is always awesome there as well. "

  • "We booked through Open Table. I definitely will not look at the menus they supply because we went to Amici looking forward to All u can eat crabs and found out that they hanged their menu moths ago and told Open Table but they never took the old one off the web."

  • "The service was awesome!! Our waitress was knowledgeable of the food explained everything with great detail. Our drinks were made perfectly and came quickly. The food on the other hand was poor. I got the catch of the day which was a sea bass on top of a salad, my date got the salmon. The portions were extremely small and bland. I have ate all over Springfield and Morton area and was not impressed at all."

  • "Had a very good meal here as a first timer and on a Saturday night at 7:30. Four of us sampled broadly on the menu and none was disappointed. A basic element in any Italian restaurant has to be the tomato or marinara sauce. These were delicious. Very tasty but not overly thick or salty. Blackend salmon was prepared perfectly, with a just right amount of blackening while retaining a moist core of the fish. Even the oil provided with the bread was one of the best I've experienced. Only complaint was the live music, which made it very difficult to talk or hear. Seems like a very loud sound system for a relatively small place."

  • "Went of a Sunday night. 3 chose the "pasta table". Very good idea. Allowed us to create our own combinations and small plates."

  • "Hubby and I thoroughly enjoyed our time and dinner here. Nice menu options for varied pallets. The mushroom bisque was incredible. The catch of the day was done beautifully. Hubby had Gnocchi with Alfredo. The sauce was spot on. My Italian husband who is a meatball snob, actually liked theirs! That says a lot!!! Definitely will be going again."

  • "I had raviollis and meatballs and I thought it was good but the sause was a little too thick for my personal taste. I expectred the meatballs to be better given this was an Italian restaurant. My son had Chicken Parm thought the portion size was really large and the food was good. It was served over Penne and he asked if he could change it to angel hair but that was an extra $2 - we didn't get that. The salads were good and also a large size and the bread was fresh and warm. We would go back again."

  • "This place is like a diamond in the ruff. The service was fantastic, food was delicious and the atmosphere was great. This was the first time we went here for dinner and we loved it. We were searching for our new Italian place since the other restaurant closed down. Thank you for a wonderful experience!!!!"

  • "We went for Valentine's the food selections were great. Our server kept the dishes coming without feeling rushed. Would go again."

  • "This restaurant fairs well on a normal night. The food is top notch and reasonably priced. Unfortuantely this Valentine's event was poorly planned. We were put upatairs at older tables and chairs. It was a constant problem with table wobbling. The food was okay not up to par for what it usually serves. Some of the food seemed to be frozen not fresh also they couldn't get the steak temperature correct. Later on you heard loud noises from the next door bar and just poor ambience overall. Once the check came I couldn't believe the price for the four course average evening. I have gone to old city restraunts for valentines day and had a much better all around and paid less than this. This might be our last visit to amici's."

  • "I travel a great deal and prefer an Italian restaurant that offers very good and unique food. It's hard to find. Amici Ristorante is one of those exceptions. It is easy to miss when you are looking for it in a congested area, but it is well worth finding. Their tomato sauce is very good. They are very accommodating and make sure that you have everything you need. I would highly recommend it."

  • "Wife and I made last minute reservations for a 6:45 table. The wait staff was very polite, friendly and helpful. I had the scallop appetizer and veal chop madeira. Both we delicious and seared to perfection. My wife equally enjoyed her made to order pasta combo. I highly recommend."

  • "Amici is an amazing little local Italian spot that offers great food, service and ambience. Great place for couples or a place to get together with friends. The attached tavern, The Tap Room, makes it a great night out spot- eat, then head next door for drinks and entertainment."

  • "This is a true gem neighborhood resturant. The food was served nice and hot in a timely manner, the only complaint I have is the two of us were stuck in the middle table which is not comfortable, they should not even have this table. Our waiter Jim made up for it though, ask for him he is really nice."

  • "Went for New Year's Eve to try something different. Appetizers were good but could tell premade. The salad had way too much dressing. Chicken brandy was delicious but the prime rib only so-so. Service could use some work. We were seated for almost 5 minutes before we were acknowledged and our drink orders taken. It didn't seem overly busy and there were a few open tables. Never were asked if we wanted another drink. May be it would be better on a regular night."

  • "My boyfriend and I went to Amici's on Christmas Eve. I was surprised at how much availability they had, as we made our plans last minute. Because of the availability, I did not have high expectations. However, our expectations were greatly exceeded. The staff was friendly and attentive. They had a 5 course price fixed menu and our food was delicious. I had the eggplant rollatini, which I would recommend to anyone! My only menu critique would be dessert. They served mini-cream puffs and cannoli's which were yummy. But they also served what looked like Pepperidge Farm cookies, which was a disappointment after such a good meal. The signage for Amici's is poor. Call ahead so you don't get lost and can be guided to their parking area"

  • "What a great time. Thanks Amici's. The service was friendly and the food was served at a nice pace. The Chicken Brandi was delicious and the crab cakes are better than mine. Good selection of wine and an excellent selection of craft beers next store at The Tap Room. The server ran over and had a Mad Elf poured in no time."

  • "Quality of food not as good as previous visits. For an early FRI evening 5 - 6:30 PM we were the only guests and could not be accommodated at a slightly larger table! Will not return."

  • "We were the only people there. The baked clams were the highlight. We could go back and just eat several orders of them and be content."

  • "Great to have a place like this nearby. We've eaten here 4 times in the new incarnation and this is the best yet. The food and service are wonderful, including amazing $2 dinner salads, delicious fresh pasta and great wine and beer. We'll be back."

  • "This was my 3rd visit to Amici. Friends had taken us there the first time. Hubby and I loved it. And he's very hard to please. The food was incredible. The service, the best. The ambience was perfect. I returned in October to take a friend to celebrate her 65th birthday. She LOVED it! Again, total perfection. Last week I celebrated my 60th birthday with a crowd of seven. My husband asked where I wanted to go for my birthday so I said Amici's. It was a different set of people who had never been there and they were all raving about everything...food, service, etc. Helene was our waitress (again) and she was just wonderful. There's so much more I could say but I'm limited to so many characters. I highly recommend Amici to everyone!"

  • "We had the Holiday Buffet Selections were traditional for the Day which is what we were anticipating. Food was very good. Server was a nice young man who was attentive without being intrusive. .A larger restaurant sign is needed because the smaller one they have cannot be seen as you drive by and it is easy to miss this really good restaurant."

  • "I could have sat next to a jet engine and it would have been more quite...could not even hear my waitress...but the guy who sings there on Fri and Sat nights at 9 is amazing and worth spending time at the bar"

  • "Portions were on the smaller side and some seemed just a bit heavy-handed with salt, but good nonetheless. I ordered the Frutti di Mare and had to request a separate bowl for the shells -- it arrived just before I finished my meal. An error likely due to the fact that the place was extremely busy and may have been short-staffed. The complimentary bread, roasted peppers, and the dipping oil in particular, was outstanding! I'll definitely be returning to try some more of their menu items."

  • "Had the eggplant rotini, enjoyed the vegetables and roasted potatoes, one son has penne and meatball, said it was ok, other son had penne, chicken, with pesto sauce, said it was excellent, the lighting was a little too dark and the Italian music was a little overwhelming. Need better signage from the street if people are not from the area."

  • "I had been here before when it was under different ownership, but never had a memorable dining experience. This all changed with my last visit! Outstanding food, wine, and service are what waits for all who come to Amici! I had the Pistachio crusted chicken after asking our waitress to describe it and she was right, I was not disappointed! From wine to dessert, I can't think of one negative thing to say...I will definetly recommend this to others and will be back myself!"

  • "I had a wonderful meal at Amici. I had dined here before when it was then named Mamonni's. In addition to the name change, the kitchen has really stepped up. My best friend and I had the specials of twin lobster tails and a veal chop. Both of our entrees were excellent, as was out antipasto platter appetizer. Combined with the BYOW feature on Mondays and Tuesdays, we had a very enjoyable meal, paired with a special bottle of Austrian Gruner Veltliner that we brought with us. Keep up the great work! I look forward to bringing more guests to Amici."
