Diner Reviews
  • "Our 2nd visit in a relatively short period. It lived up to expectations. The fava bean spread plus tomatoes (bruschetta) were delightful accompaniments to sour dough and flat bread. All excellent. The artichoke salad is the best. Pasta delicious as was the steamed spinach. The filet of sole was good, but very pricy at over $40.....a special.....my opinion is that a restaurant should always advise the guest of the charge for off menu items/when you are hosting it is embarrassing to ask the price. I do ask the price when I am a guest of others or when I am just paying for our own dinners. Cookies & chocolate sauce are an extra the restaurant provides....a nice touch. Also a complimentary birthday desert was provided."

  • "Three of us enjoyed every aspect of dinner at Amici's. You start off with a nice combo of bread (flat & sour dough) accompanied by hummus (delicious) & chopped tomatoes as toppings. The salad with shaved baby artichokes, hearts of palm, shaved parmesan and walnuts was one of the best I have ever had. The two ladies shared a goat cheese & tomato salad. We shared two pasta dishes (spaghetti with clams & Arrabbiata) that were excellent. The restaurant gives you biscotti with chocolate sauce to dip. A nice extra that is very gracious. Service was good & the host checked often to see if everything was to our satisfaction. Wine was ordered by one person and the cost for dinner was $105 including tip."

  • "On a girl's night out we all agree this is our favorite place. The food, service and ambience are all warm and professional. The bread and dips are delightful with a glass of wine and the cookies and chocolate sauce are a lovely gesture with coffee. Never disappoints! Prices are fair for the quality of the food."

  • "Overly expensive: Premium wines by the glass $25; appetizer of grilled peach and burrata was $20. Prices seemed to have jumped since I was there two months ago."

  • "Started off with a warm greeting followed by delicious humus and flat bread as well as sour dough. One shared glass of wine for the two us....a wonderful artichoke salad topped with a lemon dressing, and a good Margherita Pizza (thin crust, good flavor and crisp). We don't eat a lot, but we actually left over a little of the pizza. Service was good. Total cost for the two of us was $54.00."

  • "We brought our 3 year old grandson to Amici Brentwood for early dining and we were thrilled to see how many children were at the restaurant. At Amici, our little one was treated to a magic trick, pasta and chicken cooked just the way he likes it( in separate dishes), a kiddie cup with a lid, etc. Point being kiddies are accommodated at Amici. My dover sole was delightful and my husband enjoyed the salmon. We'll be back. So nice to be where children are welcome."

  • "service was excellent and so helpful in making menu for us so compatible with my Kidney disease. Everything was prepared to accomodate myself and guests. Will definitely come back. The summer special was so very well done and the only thing I missed this time was ordering a Pizza which I love ."

  • "Arrived in the Brentwood area late on a Sunday night after a long flight from NY; most restaurants were closed but not Amici. Booked on Open Table 15 mins before I arrived and was treated to an amazing dinner. Service is always top-shelf and it makes me feel like I am home. Love this place and make it a point to go whenever I am in town."

  • "My third time lunching here and it's always excellent! This time we had pan roasted branzino and a delious chicken parm. Lovely complementary bean dip and flat bread accompany the meal and they always give us a few small Italian cookies and chocolate dipping sauce to finish things off. We still get the lemon sorbet frozen inside a real lemon. We'll be be back again! "

  • "Compared to previous visits, the food was somewhat "off. " I had the pasta "special" that was positively tasteless."
    Dined on 4/5/2014
  • "First two wines choices - sorry don't have it. Wine was warm (no one serves red wine warm) - poor wine storage. Eggplant Parmesan overcooked. The tricolor salad was good as was the spinach. Risotto was salty. Lobster in entree was good - spaghetti overcooked. Had table by San Vicente window which was. At least the prices are more or less reasonable for what you get. Nice waiter from Rome."

  • "Ameci is a very good Italian restaurant on the Santa Monica - Brentwood border. At our last visit, the service was very friendly, if somewhat slow (even for a Saturday night). We look forward to going back there again soon."

  • "The wine selection is very notable. It's too bad a glass of premium wine costs over $20/glass. However, the good thing is that you can order half a glass of wine at a reasonable price. The food was excellent, a bit pricey but nonetheless delicious. Valet parking is mandatory if you park in their lot. Fortunately, we were able to park near the restaurant. The Calamari appetizer was very sizeable - enough to share with 4-5 persons. The carrot soup was so smooth and tasty. I was also able to order half a bowl of soup. I have to say the establishment is very customer accomodating. The service is impeccable."

  • "Over it was pretty good. The service definitely made up for the food. I ordered Chicken Fetuccini Alfredo w/ broccoli and it was pretty bland not much flavor and the sauce was dried up into the pasta. My girl had some steak with arugula and for some reason had bbq sauce as dressing. It tasted a little odd and the bbq sauce on the arugula was pretty random and the meat was pretty dry. The wine was very good as we had a bottle and the service was great they were constantly coming by to make sure we were good but not too much where it got bothersome. Also shouldn't have to pay for parking at a restaurant that has its own parking unless its valet but decided to park myself. Price of dining was very reasonable only $100 + $20 tip."

  • "I couldn't make up my mind so I ordered the GF margarita pizza, gf spaghetti ala checca, and the Dover sole. It was all perfect. I shared the pizza with the rest of the people at my table and evn though they are not gluten free they all thought the pizza was fabulous!"

  • "I ordered the special T bone, having not had one in years, and it was terrific as was the artichoke salad and coconut ice cream (not served together!). Lovely evening. Noise can vary at this place, it can be loud if super busy but it was moderate that night."

  • "I had just come back from two weeks in Italy and was craving good pizza and pasta. This was perfect for my cravings. I was pleasantly surprised that they not only had GF penne but spaghetti as well. My daughter who is not GF ate my leftovers and thought the pasta was amazing also.."

  • "When we lived in Brentwood, this was our favorite neighborhood restaurant. Four years now since moving to San Diego, we always visit Amici when we take a trip to L.A. Thanks for being on Open Table - it makes it so easy!"

  • "Very good authentic Italian food at Amici...particularly good for lunch. Warm, inviting atmosphere, conveniently located between Brentwood and SM at corner of 26th and San Vicente. Meal begins with excellent bread and delicious hummus, as well as fresh bruschetta dip, and cookies with chocolate dip are provided on a complimentary basis at the end of your meal. Service is always warm, friendly and helpful. Their salads are excellent, and my favorite dish is their Tagliata (steak salad)...just outstanding! Worth a visit...very good pizzas, pastas and desserts!"

  • "Amici is one of my favorite places to dine anywhere in LA. The food is always authentic and the atmosphere inviting. Whether I am dining with a friend, or my entire family, it fits the bill. Standout dishes include eggplant parmesan, branzino and brodetto (fish soup like Bouillabaise)."

  • "Although we have enjoyed Amici Brentwood for quite a few years, often taking our extended family there, we became aware on our last visit that they have substantially raised their prices not only for food but for wine also. One of the lower prices for wine was $90 and the salad prices are now + or - $13. Although we enjoy Amici's food and service very much, we will not be going there as often. Our last visit for 6 people with one bottle of wine cost over $400 with tip. Too bad."

  • "While the service was quite good, the food quality was sorely lacking. It wasn't bad, just not worth the very high prices. It was disappointing. Very loud, as all of the surfaces are hard, nothing to absorb the sound. We were seven and had a variety of dishes. Special Dover Sole, ravioli filled with prosciutto, linguine ala vongole (clams), penne with chicken, pasta with lobster and two appetizers. Nothing was bad, but nothing stood out as "excellent","wonderful", "great" or even "really good". It was sort of like kissing your sister: nothing wrong with it, but no thrill. Again, just OK. For $20 less per person, it would have been much more interesting, but at $65/person, way too pricey. We will not return."

  • "Good bread and delicious hummas starts the meal and cookies with chocolate dip are provided on a complimentary basis at the end of your meal. In between, the artichoke salad was excellent, pasta good and the chicken parmesian was ok. The atmosphere is pleasant. The waiter was caring, but we had to ask for pepper, parmesian cheese and he forgot my friend's diet coke until we reminded him. His personality and willingness to comply made up for mistakes that should not occur in a good restaurant. We would certainly go back."

  • "We were visiting in the Brentwood area and selected Amici blindly based on Open Table reviews. It was one of the most authentic Italian restaurants I have been to in a long time, with a wonderful menu and comprehensive wine list. From the moment we walked in the door we were greeted with friendly, warm and prompt service and were made to feel at home. The food was exceptional. I wished we lived closer so we could go there more often."

  • "My husband and I went here for our 3-year anniversay. We were looking for a romantic spot with a neighborhood vibe. The reviews for Amici were excellent so we decided to give it a try. We were absolutely blown away. The service was the best we've experienced in a long time. Our server gave us great recommendations and helped us customize our dishes so we could get the best of everything. When the food came, we couldn't stop raving about how amazing it was. And the cozy atmosphere made our dinner a special one to remember. The night was absolutely perfect. When we left, every person who worked at the restaurant thanked us for coming. We can't wait to go back for our next special occasion."

  • "I've eaten here in the past and had a similar experience. We had dinner here on a Saturday night at 7pm. Our party of 5 was greeted and seated on arrival. Service was pleasant & professional. Dining on several appetizers and entrees (fish, chicken and pasta). All were good, just not great or even very good. Kinda disappointing. Prices ranged from reasonable to quite expensive for the food quality. So many Italian restaurants on San Vincente that are really good. Amici is not bad, it's just not as good as it should be. Overall, kinda disappointing."

  • "Very nice salad and sour dough bread plus lavoche with hummus and tomatoes as two side toppings to enhance your introduction to dinner. Friendly service. Veal Milanaise was dry. Ravioli good as was the Veal Scalapini. Nice cookies with chocolate sauce as a treat from the restaurant to conclude the meal."
