Diner Reviews
  • "The food was very good. I ordered a small plate of lobster corn-dogs. They were probably the best appetizer I have ever eaten. Wife ordered a salmon entree. she was extremely pleased with her dinner. We our not fans of over attentive servers but here we would have enjoyed a little more attention. It appeared they were short of servers. We observed one couple left unhappy. Sadly, a good manager or wine steward could have helped the problem by taking over hostessing duties and have one or two of their three hostesses assist the servers. Bottom line, great place for food but appears to be poorly managed. Restaurant not reaching full potential."

  • "Good food, great service, little bit noisy near large birthday party."

  • "We went for my son's 10th birthday (his choice). The food was awesome (as always). The calamari is delicious. The only glitch was the wine. They were out of our first and second choice, however, we were brought a bottle of wine that was more expensive and highly recommended and it was given to us at the price of the wine we originally ordered (a less expensive one). The wine we received was excellent. I love bringing people here. You can't find better service anywhere and the food is wonderful."

  • "There were 6 of us that went to dinner. The waiter was friendly, attentive and helpful. Our salad was fresh and delicious. We daughter ordered a steak but was not too happy with the quality of the steak(considering that Americas is well known for steaks,it was surprising). The rest of us ordered fish which was absolutely delicious."

  • "Food was ood but not very warm. Service was terrible, I had to get my own silverware and salt and pepper and we were one of three parties there."

  • "Let me just say that if I could go to this place everyday I would. Wonderful and great tasting food to wake up your palette, awesome customer service and BEAUTIFUL decor. My husband told me this was one of his best Valentines in the 10 years we've been married. Definitely a spot we'll be returning to!"

  • "Although we had a reservation, we still had to wait for almost an hour to get seated - that was disappointing. However, once we finally got seated, our waiter, Rafael was simply outstanding. Great service, delivering great food; and that compensated for the earlier lousy service."

  • "Overall was great the only bad thing is they over booked reservations. I had a 7:30 reservation and did not get seated till 8:10. THey were very disorganized. However after being seated everything was great!"

  • "We had been to America's in The Woodlands before, and had a great dining experience. However for Valentines, we felt they had overbooked the resturant. The service levels were poor, not due to the staff, but because there were too few of them. Also, the food was not as good as it appeared to be rushed. We were also dissastified with the set menu, versus their normal full menu offering. While I would return to America's, I would not return for Valentine's nor recommend them to anyone during this time."

  • "The floors were littered. The steak was tough. The fish was tough and lacking in flavor. Overall this was below my standard for a moderately priced restaurant. This was definitely not a moderately priced meal."

  • "Took my wife for Valentine's Day and the service was horrible! It seems they overbooked and could not handle the crowds. Service was poor starting with the hostess and grew progressively worse."

  • "We arrived 10 minutes early to discover that the valet had no more parking available. How does that happen? The parking area they directed us to had no open spaces either. We parked 4 or 5 blocks away. It was a nice evening for a walk, but I almost drove away."

  • "Our Valentines Day was great because of the great food & great service."
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "Everything was great! The only issue was that I had put in a special request and it was sort of ruined because the waiter was not aware of it. I had asked that at the end of the meal I wanted a Tres Leches with the writing "I Luv U" on it for my wife. He either forgot about it or didn't see it but other than that it was a really good dinner with my wife!"

  • "It was like a cattle call on the lower level. The servers tried, but the management took advantage of diners and overbooked with terrible service from the moment we walked in to the time we left. The only nod to the holiday in the cattle call room was red tablecloths: the music choice was poor, the tables were packed so closely together you couldn't hold an intimate conversation and there was little done to make a special evening."

  • "I should start by saying normally I love Americas! Great food and good location but this time it was a huge disappointment. We arrived a few minutes ahead of our reservation and were told they were running behind. We decided to go to a local bar for a drink and an appetizer. We returned 20 minutes later to be told they were still 15-20 minutes behind. We waited and after 20 minutes and a prompt from my husband we got seated. Another 15 minutes later we hadn't even been approached for a drink so we decided to leave. Service was awful. What made it worse was that on open table they were still showing they had availability throughout the evening! Great resturant normally but avoid it on busy "hallmark" weekends!"

  • "This was a fixed price meal for Valentines Day. Food was served like warm to cold. Preparation was uninspired. Service was inattentive. Overall a D to C- before considering price. 2 for dinner $235 was completely out of line. We will not return."

  • "Wait staff was not very friendly, floors were dirty, tables were to close together, will not goback"

  • "We did not get any drinks at all until after appetizer, not even water. Service was so bad, we never received any refills on water or drinks. i would of gladly purchased another beer but my waiter never even ask, our water glasses were empty most of the meal and he never offered to fill them. For $200 we should have been wowed but our experience was horrible, I would not return to this place again, even if the food was free, the service was that bad!!! And to make it worse, the waiter kept my credit card, i had to return to the restaurant to retrieve it. the next day. Now i see why the rating on urban spoon is so low, i should have checked it first."

  • "20 minutes after our reservation time, with the hostess and manager clearly overloaded and overwhelmed, we left and ate at a different restaurant."

  • "This was my first time eating at Americas. I wanted to have a nice romantic dinner with my fiance for Valentine's day. We were seated right away but right from the start, we start for twenty minutes before anyone came over to even take a drink order. It seemed there was some confusion about who's table we were. We finally got our drink order in but it then took another 15 minutes to get our appetizer order and main course order in. The menu was so simple as the chef decided to have a limited choice of appetizer, main course and a desert for $75 per head without wine $89 with wine."

  • "I had recommended this restaurant to my boyfriend as a great romantic place to go for valentines! What a dissapointment. My boyfriend had to finally go back up to the hostes to ask about service as we were at the table for approximately 10 minutes before the waiter arrived. They was no apology for lack of service/wait. When we ordered and received our bottle of wine, we had to ask for a bucket of ice for the wine to be chilled as well as ice for our water.Due to the poor service, lack of romantic ambiance, it was a very disappointing experience for Valentine's Day."

  • "Took my wife there for valentines day. Although the atmosphere and presentation was great upstairs, we were escorded downstairs where the atmosphere, presentation, and service was not worth the $200 for two."

  • "Celebrating a 40th wedding anniversary at a Sunday brunch on February 9, 2014. We were seated near the doors leading to the patio. Every time someone opened the doors, a blast of cold air blew in because the front doors of the restaurant were propped open, which created a draft effect. The wind was strong enough to move the drapes and blow the hair of lady customers. I mentioned it to our waiter and he came back and said the manager stated nothing could be done about it. The manager never came by to offer any apologies or explanations. I spent over $125.00 for a once in a lifetime special occasion and was miserable. First time customer and last time customer. I have gotten better service from managers of fast food restaurants ."

  • "I love Americas and have been numerous times with my wife and friends. The menu is great, the ambience is fantastic, and the service is superb. BUT, my wife and I had reservations for Valentine's Day, and it was a terrible experience. They had added numerous tables upstairs (we have always eaten downstairs, and upstairs is typically used as a bar with a few tables for dining) to accommodate the plethora of guests for the special occasion. Unfortunately, it took 20 minutes to get water and plantain chips (their complimentary appetizer), and after 30 minutes of not even having a wait staff member come by and take a drink order and drop off menus, we left. They had booked far too many guests to accommodate comfortably."
