  • "After looking at many different options to take my wife to celebrate our anniversary, I chose Americas. Admittedly, I first looked at the latest and trendiest spots in town, but I did not feel comfortable with them since I had never been there. The night was supposed to be about us together and I did not want to risk some random experience. I really wanted a place with memorable food, fun decor, desserts and good service. Americas delivered on all accounts. She loved the food. The lobster corn dogs were a great start: new, different and fun. She loved the corn crusted snapper and I devoured my short ribs. As usual the food was great and prepared perfectly. My only quibble is with the limited wine list."

  • "This was our first time to the W. Gray location! We all agreed that the old Westheimer location was more exciting and visually appealing with it's bar, staircase, and ornate colored glass decorations, but the W. Gray location is also beautiful... in an eclectic sort of way! From it's "popcorn" and tufted-felt wall and lighting decor, to it's table, chairs and booths that are inspired by "shaved chocolate"; we were pleasantly surprised! We usually get "the churrasco", but our waitress, Alyssa, suggested that we try the Chilean Sea Bass, with risotto and grilled shrimp! For dessert, we shared the Tequila Bread Pudding which was set on-fire at our table-side! Great food, friends and a great atmosphere made for a very memorable evening! "

  • "I went for the alfajores. The tiny cookies were perfect - lightly sweetened with powder sugar, lovely delicate texture, and the filling was just how I liked it. My mom had the chocolate cake dessert. It was lighter than I expected, and rich with chocolately flavor. My husband went for the tequila bread pudding. This one was my least favorite of the four, which surprised me, as tequila and bread pudding are two of the things that make life worth living. This dessert had a nice flavor and texture but it didn't wow me like the others. The best dessert, and believe me, this was a hard call to make, was the mango ginger sorbet. It was sweet, refreshing, and packed full of fruit and ginger flavor. I can't imagine anything better on a hot day!"

  • "I'll keep this short. The room was 80 degrees when arrived. i had to speak to the manager to ask him to lower the temperature down. He blamed it on the waiters for turning it up. Their signature steak, rated as one of the top 20 in the United States was nothing more than a disappointment. i don't mind paying $50 for a good steak, in fact it's priced in line with other steak houses in Houston. This was at best a good steak that one could get at any mediocre restaurant. i was very disappointed. one thing i noticed was they suggested certain foods to be fantastic; their chips and salsa, their steak, and their tres leches. All were not up to par as compared to other places i have been. Overall, very disappointed"

  • "While the menu is extensive and varied making every visit an adventure, we went this time for a special celebration and a plan to experience the famous sea bass. The sea bass was melt in your mouth delectable and complemented with crabmeat, grilled shrimp, risotto, and grilled vegetables. We have had ceviche each time we visit and it is the best I have ever tasted. Sometimes we go here just for drinks and appetizers. Make sure you order the flaming tres leche for dessert to see the show and experience the delicious cake. The restaurant is beautifully designed and comfortable. Most of all, the staff is always so attentive and interesting making everybody feel special when they visit."

  • "My wife and I have been here twice--both times choosing to sit in the well-appointed bar. We ordered the Ahi tuna carpaccio both times and enjoyed it quite a bit. While those who prefer the simplicity of Japanese-style sushi might fight the Latin America version overdone, we enjoyed the freshness of the tuna and the presentation. One of my favorite dishes is the bacon-wrapped quail as an appetizer. Trust me, it's not coated in bacon grease--it's refined and incredibly memorable. I wouldn't consider this place haute cuisine, but the quality and variety are there and make it worth a visit."

  • "Had a fantastic wine at recommendation of our server but too many servers which created confusion. Plus there was a large group next to us having a children's birthday party at night on a weekend. At this price point, I thought that we either should have been seated elsewhere as there were a number of open tables or a rep from the restaurant kindly ask the parents to have the children stay sitted and behave themselves. Food was okay but would probably only go back for happy hour at the bar to have some more of that wine."

  • "Often, when your party doesn't order alcohol, servers don't feel it is worthwhile to take care of the table. On top of that, we weren't that hungry so we shared appetizers and entrees. However, our server still gave us her best. The food was also excellent. I remembered coming here 15 years ago and being so impressed that I wanted to come back. And it didn't disappoint. The corn smoked crab fingers were fabulous! Other "don't misses" include the mixed salad and tres leches."

  • "We were seeing a movie at the theater across the street so we wanted to eat and have drinks first. We sat in the bar and ordered off the HH menu. The food, drinks and service were all great and same quality you expect from Americas. However, most of the bar was reserved for a party that wasn't there leaving the rest of us to crowd in at the long bar. Also another group was ridiculously loud and annoying. I'd always go back because the food is fabulous."

The wait to even get our drinks or order made me want to just get up and leave, but i thought I would try the steak I had heard so much of in food reviews. Steak was super tender with no flavor.... and once I got it, it took another long wait before I could even send it make to tell them it wasn't cook to medium. Totally disappointing."
