A word from Americano Restaurant - Hotel Vitale
Americano is designed to encourage a communal dining and imbibing experience. We suggest starting with a few bites for the table alongside some selections from our crafted cocktail menu or distinctive wine list. From there our menu offers the opportunity to taste a bit of everything or to enjoy a
traditional full entree. Our question to you is, "How would you like to dine?"
Please note that a limited menu will be provided for parties of 12 or larger. To book a private space or to make a reservation for a large party, please email LMadden@communehotels.com.
Service was prompt, food was good,
coffee was plentiful...couldn't as for more."

Americano has good food but the
service is worse each time that I go. During my last two visits the coffee mugs were dirty. During the last visit, one of our party of three ordered second latte towards the end of our meal. Shortly thereafter, we were brought the check but no latte. So, we waited thinking that the latte would come. Around 10 minutes later, the waiter informed us that he needed the table for another reservation. We were so shocked that we paid and left. On the wait out we saw 3 four-tops sitting empty. I won't be returning."

The way to dine here is to order a
bunch of appetizers for the table and then several pizzas for the main course. The pizzas are outstanding; don't bother with anything else. Service is often slow so it's not for a rushed lunch. But compared to other "nice" places around the Embarcadero, it is reasonably priced and people enjoy it."

Americano is a slick young vibe
that makes for good spectator sport and the foods not bad either. The menu is not extensive, in fact its quiet precise. Ranging between a few salads, pizzas, pastas and some mains, choices are limited. Portions are just large enough to share (salads, pizzas). Most of what is served is organic, local and seems put together with a lot of care for the key ingredients. This is quintessential bay area cuisine – clean, simple and bursting with flavor. The wine list is not extensive, but not inexpensive either, it is great quality though. Visit on a Thursday or Friday evening (with reservations) and get the full and vibrant bar scene."

Met a girlfriend for dinner,
ordered a the funghi pizza, gnochi, and deviled eggs. all were decently good but all had a tad too much salt, not enough to make us gag, but enough so that it was very noticeable and had to take a while getting used to. Pizza was a bit dry and overcooked. the Deviled eggs were very yummy. The wine was okay. The Aztec Gold cocktail was yummy too."

a special lunch occasion and the
staff treated us so well, it was amazing. this is a go to place for any reason or no reason. Seamless and great food."

Not a place for a big hungry guy
like me to eat. Spent $60 for 3 cheese balls, two sardines, a bowl of almonds and a pizza. All very tasty."

We were looking for a nice place
to have brunch on Father's Day along the Embarcadero. We were going to catch the Giants game and go to the Ferry Building to do some shopping prior to the game. Americano's service is topnotch, the food was excellent. We had a great time."
Dined on 6/15/2014
I love the Americano for working
breakfasts. The service is quick and the wait staff does a good job judging how quickly/slowly you are trying to eat for breakfast. Simple options that are typically good. I enjoyed the banana pancakes this time."
Dined on 6/12/2014
Nice spot for business lunch. We
were greeted and seated immediately even with an extra addition. Waiter was at tentative and knowledgeable. Food was good, nicely presented and served in a reasonable time frame. We were able to have our business discussion which the waiter was careful to not intrude upon yet still served us efficiently."

I entertained a client here and we
had a great time - good service, excellent food."

This was not my first time dinning
at Americano but it was wonderful. The food was great, the staff was great. The view of the bridge doesn't hurt the dinning experience one bit! If you're looking for a nice atmosphere and good food/drinks this is the right place. "

This place is great for a light
diner or sharing plates with a big group. When weather permitted, the patio is very enjoyable with the view of the bay bridge. No reservation accepted for outside seating. Inside seating is more "restaurant" kind of seating but sharing plates is also an option. The food is very good. Very recommended for any occasion!"

Americano is a nice place that
offers comfortable dining with a great atmosphere. It is very spacious with a bar area in the front and the dining area towards the back of the restaurant. The service is very good with all of the wait staff being very attentive to your needs. The menu has something for everybody from easy to understand selections to more complicated selections for the diner that is looking for something different. I personally stay with the less complicated items. "

Second time at the restaurant. We
did not have the same waitress as the first time and that made it less enjoyable. The waitress this time had a bit of an attitude and appeared to be distant and generally unwilling. "

After seeing so many great reviews
on Google, I was sadly disappointed by Americano. I should have know when my friend and I walked by a packed Boulevard to go into a nearly empty Americano restaurant. For wine I got a glass of Barbera - I know this wine well - I bought a few bottles myself a few months ago - it's a great wine if you like very fruit forward. Easy to drink. The glass I had tasted like it had come from a bottle that had been open the day before. Not horrible- still drinkable, but not good. As for the food, it all sounded good, it looked good when it came to the table, but the execution was off. The night before I had eaten at Central Kitchen and had the best meal of 2014 to date. Americano is not in the same league."

Perfect for sunny days outside, or
inside for not-so-sunny days."
Dined on 5/2/2014
too noisy from bar-goers on a warm
sunny evening to be able to enjoy conversation at dinner. Also everything was too salty."
Dined on 4/30/2014
I always enjoy having lunch at
Americano, especially on a sunny day where I can sit outside and enjoy the weather. The food is always good as well as the service. They have an express lunch menu that gives you a variety of options and is reasonably priced. Americano is definitely one of my favorite places for lunch!"
Dined on 4/29/2014
the restaurant was very slow the
evening we were there, I have dined here many times over the years, but my 5 friends had not. We were seated he was very sweet and nice. no one came to get waters or drink orders. but two people kept passing by. We flagged someone after 5 minutes, and she said oh i thought you were taken care of...wine was not refilled we had to pour ourselves, orders taken never asked us if we wanted more drinks. Then ordered dessert, and coffee. After 10 minutes no coffee, he said it wasn't brewed, did we still want it. REally rookie service, never rallyed back."

Great place just wish they would
add some gluten free choices "

I've always come at lunch, and
lunch is always a treat. Even when the room is full, the noise level is decent, the service is excellent, and the food is delicious. I always encourage my lunch-mates to start with the artichoke and brussel sprout "fritti", which is perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked. Just the right taste to start a meal. I love the steak salad, because I can get the meat cooked just the way I like it, and it's moist and flavorful, on top of crisp lettuce with fresh and flavorful lemon vinaigrette. The hamburgers are also great - plump and moist and obviously not pre-frozen, with a soft fresh bun. The pasta of the day is also a good bet because there are always interesting combinations."
Dined on 4/16/2014
Be prepared to give your credit
card to waitress to get a table outside dining. Long wait to have your server provide service, food not all that, mainly the yuppy watering hole for hooking up."
Dined on 4/4/2014
If you're looking for a quiet
place to dine, this restaurant isn't it. At least on a Friday night. I met a friend for dinner there, thinking it would be a relaxed atmosphere, especially after a day of travel. Not the case. While the food and the service were good, the noise level from the bar scene made normal conversation difficult in the restaurant area. If you don't mind a lot of ambient noise from mingling singles on a Friday night, then by all means dine here. If you prefer something a little more quiet then dine here some other night or go somewhere else."
Dined on 3/21/2014
The food is always great. Great
atmosphere on the patio in the front of the bay bridge. All the dishes are prepared with taste and will never disappoint you. Highly recommended for a drink in the lounge area or diner."
Dined on 3/14/2014
Great location. Nice matches.
There is an outside area that was packed when we got there, mostly the hip, just got in from the Airport and I need a drink before I go up to my room and leave my bags in the room so there are not clogging up the walkways in the outdoor patio area type. We were helped right away, a very, nice, cute Hostess led us to our table and got us some water, said "Have a good meal" and that was the most attention we received all night. It took 10 mins for our Waitress to come by, we ordered drinks and food in case we didn't see her again for another 10 mins, food came pretty fast and was good. We started to look for our check early just in case, the Waitress was a no show for another 10 mins from there."
Dined on 3/13/2014
I made a reservation because most
places in the FiDi are packed during lunch. Not so at this place. Despite there only being maybe a quarter of the tables with diners at them, it took quite some time to get the two pizzas we ordered. When the pizzas arrived, turns out they made the wrong one for my lunch date, which was voluntarily comped, so that was nice. I do have to say that the mushroom pizza with truffle oil that I had was really delicious, however."

Brunch service was very attentive
and the food was worth going back for."
Dined on 3/9/2014
From a very vibrant bar scene,
both inside and out, from the waterfront views to the Bay Bridge light show, it has it all. The cuisine is creative, the service attentive, knowledgeable, and very willing to please on special requests. Well done on all accounts."
Dined on 3/7/2014
Don't go on Friday nights for
dinner - it's more a bar scene than a relaxing dinning experience."
Dined on 3/7/2014
Ate breakfast on a weekday. The
restaurant wasn't busy yet the service was absent. No one seemed to care. There was an overall lack of service. Once you got your food it was tasty."
Dined on 3/6/2014
Three of us had dinner and the
food was very good. The wine selection was very large. The Sommelier was very helpful. The prices were as expected. I will be back"
Dined on 3/5/2014
I had an excellent lunch which was
a tuna salad, my partner had the salad with chicken which was also very good. Creative ingredients with good balance of flavors. Ideal for a quick business lunch."
Dined on 3/3/2014
A group of us from work (most
people were visiting from out of town) had planned to grab drinks/dinner after meetings. We wanted a place convenient to the office that offered a lively bar/lounge area and food. I made a reservation for dinner, but we had about an hour in the bar to visit with folks who joined us who we're staying to eat. The service was great, the happy specials were good, and we were able to enjoy a few glasses of wine before moving to a table. Our party size increased from the initial number I'd made the reservation for and the hostess was very helpful and accommodated the change. Our waiter was so friendly, service was great, and food was excellent. It turned out to be exactly the place we were looking for. Two thumbs up!"

My friend's office is around the
corner and we always come here for breakfast. The ingredients are fresh and well prepared. We met up with some friends who live in SF and had never dined at Cafe Americano. They were pleased with their omelets and coffee. I am not an omelette fan but I will only eat the omelets here as they are cooked just right. The menu has the usual suspects but with a local ingredients and gourmet twist. Pastries and bread are all local and fresh. This is one of my favorite places for breakfast in the city."
Dined on 2/15/2014
We had a fabulous dinner with wine
pairing for Valentine's. It was a Prix Fixe menu and we both found options we were happy with. My girlfriend requested a different wine pairing suggestion for her main course and that request was happily satisfied. Every course was delightful and creative. We would definitely return."
Dined on 2/14/2014
Exceptional service, really good
food, and smack-dab on the Embarcadero."
Dined on 2/6/2014
The antipasti selection looked
interesting, had the tuna crudo and brussel sprouts to share - both were great. Our main meals were the sausage pasta, which was flavoursome but not outstanding. I have had better pasta at my mum's place. The other pasta was a mushroom, bacon and poached egg special. It looked ok when it arrived but the pasta was over cooked, lacked flavour and was swimming in a plate of sauce, I could not finish it."
Dined on 2/5/2014
Great dinner and service was
outstanding. Loved the mussels appetizer and pork chop main course was great."
Dined on 2/1/2014
My friends and I have lunch here
every few months and we always comment on the excellent service afterwards. It is so pleasant to dine without being bombarded by the wait person's personality. The food is very good, the chef creative and the ambiance perfect for enjoying one's companions and meal."
