Really like the American tap room. My first visit was with a group of ladies for Sunday brunch. I liked it so well that I came back for a business meeting in the afternoon. I will come again. It's a great spot for sports fans as well particularly on Saturday and Sunday football games

Skimpy on the scallop portions, their imitation of BoneFish's bang bang shrimp was pathetic (they call it tap tap shrimp), their steak and scampi special was insanely over priced (34 bucks!) and their creamed corn was essentially canned corn.

I've been to the one in Bethesda and the one in Reston has more room, both for the buffet and to move around. Plenty of food and the baked French toast is great, more of a bread pudding. The $10 mimosas are served in a wine glass (not a flute).

I took a friend here for a birthday lunch and there was a small problem with her food. The manager immediately came over to the table and apologized, comped her meal, and gave us vouchers for future visits. His genuine concern about the quality of his restaurant showed he really cares about providing a great experience for all customers. Also, the food here is delicious!

I hadn't been here in a while, but decided to return with my 3 small children and my in-laws. My kids LOVE the food, and the adults felt the same way. They have a great beer list, including seasonal picks. Their crab cakes are some of the best I have ever had. Its all about getting the right waiter/waitress, as I have had a bad experience a few years ago. But this last time it was all top-notch and we all had a fantastic experience.

I ordered a crabmeat omelet, described on the menu as "3 eggs topped with avocado, tomatoes, arugula and crabmeat." What was served was eggs scrambled with tomato, chopped asparagus and less the a tablespoon of crabmeat, served cold. Accompanied by lukewarm lemonade straight from the chemical factory (made with those awful dried crystals no doubt), it was enough. Get me out of here.

When you get the brunch Buffett you are already a low maintenance diner, so the wait staff needs to be more on top of drink service. Bottomless mimosas don't seem like a good deal when you'd table has to constantly chase the server down for another round.

Tried American Tap Room on a Saturday evening. it just didn't seem to come together -- music and ambient noise too loud, oversized wing-back chairs, while comfortable for relaxing in, were too big -- most of my party kind of sunk in to them and couldn't reach the table, so had to sit perched on the edge of the seat in order to dine. Of the 4 entrees ordered only one -- the chopped salad, was palatable and worth the money. The beer list was pretty good, but more in breadth than depth. The service was good -- the wait staff definitely did try to make it work, but the dining experience just didn't come together.

I met two business colleagues for lunch at The American Tap Room - outstanding service by Sean and good menu with a variety of "light" lunch options - appreciated! We all ordered salads - two with special requests regarding dressing and leaving out nuts - and they were very good - fresh ingredients, nicely presented, good portion size and tasty. We did not feel rushed by our server and the hostess was pleasant and helpful. This is my first visit to the Reston location of this restaurant and I look forward to returning.

Our first time at the Reston location, and having been to the Arlington Tap Room a couple of years ago I had high hopes. We were seated relatively quickly, and the pretzel appetizer was great. The meal (Tap Burger and Chicken/Waffles) was disappointing. Cheese had no flavor, and the chicken were thighs with fat and other non-edible parts remaining.

We stopped at ATR for Mother's Day dinner. It was just me and my two kids. The kids menu was great and the specialty drinks for kids were a hit. (Cotton candy on a soda? That's a new one! Very fun - although not very health conscious!) The food was good and the atmosphere was nice. We would have liked to sit outside but the hostess thought there was a wait for those tables. Didn't seem to be, but we did fine inside.

Service at this restaurant is fabulous...compliments to Sean, a seasoned and experienced waiter. However, the portion size of my salmon entree was so small, my client commented on whether I was going to be hungry again in a few hours as it looked like "just an appetizer". True, it was quite small but satisfying.

I frequently visit this restaurant with clients as it is overall convenient and good food with great service. I almost always get the same thing; one of their salads with steak on it. I did the same at my visit a few days ago and the salad was stale; the lettuce was not crisp, had that 'red tint' on it as if it had been left out and they forgot the cheese (oh well). My clients seemed to like their lunch though, just a but off from what I usually expect.

Very happy with the experience and would highly recommend it and will definately come back.

It's a great place for adults and kids. Too bad our waitress wasn't very good at getting our child's order correct or promptly (child was last to receive his milk - even my beer came before his milk!). I asked for steamed veggies, plain, no butter. That got screwed up. Good thing we're not allergic to butter. I'm pretty easy going but it's important that my child's order be correct and quick - NOT after our order comes out.

I love the build-out of ATR compared to how it was 10 years ago, it's beautiful, but the cuisine and mastery is nowhere near where it was 10 years ago. I asked a server about it once and she gave a canned answer, "We would like to do a few things really well instead of many things not that well." The problem is, those few things weren't done that well and it's pretty amateurish compared to other restaurants in the Town Center. I personally don't care because I like the ambiance and I'm not picky, but my husband and kids are picky and hate going there now. For the work crowd: The happy hour food items are pretty bland but the drinks are good.

We came for Easter Brunch and we were impressed with the spread that they had for the buffet. There were a lot of typical brunch items however there was also some items that weren't as typical such as the dips and mini sandwiches. We enjoyed all of the options. The food overall was very good. The ham (from the ham & green beans dish) was a little dried out but the roast beef from the carving station was very flavorful and tender. The chicken and waffles was fantastic. We especially enjoyed the donut holes. The service was very friendly and helpful. We definitely enjoyed our experience and would come back again.

I chose American Tap Room for a dinner date with my significant other to celebrate some good news. We were seated right by the dual sided fireplace and our reservation was at 9pm so by then it wasn't crowded and it was pretty quiet, which made for a very romantic ambiance. The food, wine and dessert were all excellent! While our server was prompt at taking our orders and helpful by recommending a good wine to go with our dinner, he failed to return to the table to check on us during the meal and it took a while to get the menus cleared off the table and the check at the end of the meal. Other than that, everything else was amazing! I expected better service but it was a late reservation so they were probably winding down for the night.

This was the first time most if not the entire group had been to American Tap Room located in Reston Town Center. We had RSVp'd for 5pm for 7 people but unfortunately we were unable to make it there until 5:30; although I had already made them aware we were going to be there till 7:30-8pm. They happily confirmed my Reservation. But once we got there we felt very rushed and the server was very inappropriately rude towards our group. We will NOT be recommending this location to anyone because our experience was horrible and we all were on our first date.

My wife and I dined at ATR for my birthday during a long weekend out of town. We're from Philadelphia and we have our expectations set pretty high when we dine out, so we are pretty choosy when we place a reservation somewhere. We booked through OpenTable with a special request for a quiet section to be seated in. Not only was our request accommodated, but the waiter in our section (Eric) was particularly knowledgeable about the menu and offered suggestions for our consideration. He was also very patient and was happy to answer any questions we had about the menus. I would definitely dine here again.
