  • "Super service, fabulous food! Excellent menu choices. Comfy chairs!"

  • "Never dined here before and was pleasantly surprised. Food and service were quite good. I expected a saloon type menu, but found a wider array of offerings and was very pleased with my cod dish and exotic tea. The service was very attentive. Would definitely return!"

  • "Went for Father's Day Brunch. The food was good. Service was excellent. Great beer selections for the husband!!"

  • "When we went to get our food from the brunch display, I noted that there was hardly any bacon. I went up three times and they never refilled the bacon. There is nothing special about a mashed potato bar when it is just a big tureen of potatoes with bacon, chives, sour cream and shredded cheddar cheese. I was hoping for something more creative. The menu on-line said there would be an imported meat and cheese display but there was none. The mini-sandwich selection consisted of only one type of sandwich. My cocktail was supposed to have honeydew and cantaloupe in it. When it first arrived, I tasted neither. I sent it back and they added honeydew, but no cantaloupe. The chicken and waffles were very good."

  • "This was the first time for my wife and me, and we were very pleased with the service and food. We were also pleasantly surprised by the spacing of the restaurant and the ability to carry on a conversation without an elevated voice."

  • "Food was tasty, service was friendly but a bit slow for which the waiter apologized. "

  • "We needed to find a place to go to and have a quick dinner before the movie. The food was good. Service was great. We were done very quickly. Good standard fare."

  • "Our service was excellent and we enjoyed the food and ambience very much.. There was one problem... We were seated at a table that had wing chairs and although they were very comfortable for sitting but not to good for eating .... We felt that the wing chairs were too low for the table to eat propertly..."

  • "As its name suggests, the American Tap Room has a relaxed, casual atmosphere. It is a popular venue and the energetic atmosphere can make it a little difficult to hear. Our party was there for lunch, and had lite fare -two salads and the crab cake sandwich. The menu is a little limited, offering several burgers, some sandwiches, a few platters, and a generous number of salad choices. Overall food quality was fine, but not outstanding. The service was friendly, quick, attentive."

  • "We frequent American Tap Room about once a month with our children. The food is usually very good, with a great selection to choose from. The service is always good as well."

  • "I was from out of town visiting my son who is in college in DC. We attended the Easter brunch. Overall it was good but by no means amazing. Not bad for the price. Can't say I would go back only because there are numerous other restaurants in the area I would try instead. Staff was nice and friendly, our waiter was attentive and I liked that the Manager stopped by to check that everything was going well."

  • "We have been to American Tap Room before but last weekend we decided to go at the last minute and were blown away by the food. Apparently there's a new chef. The menu had new items and we were both very pleased. My husband had the meatloaf and I had a spinach salad w salmon. Both were delicious. We sat in those wonderfully comfortable big bucket leather chairs, watched the world walk by out the window and in general had a wonderful time. "

  • "We arrived on-time for a 7:30pm reservation, but didn't get seated for close to 20 minutes. This was surprising given that people coming in with no reservation were told it would be a 35 minute wait. When we were seated, there was no apology for the delay. I wouldn't bother mentioning this except that the service continued to be poor. Took a while to take our drink order, then server came back in around 10 minutes to say that the drinks were coming, did we want to orde appetizers. Finally the drinks came, but I had to get up and find the waiter to ask him if we could order our meals. No one checked in during dinner to see if we needed anything else."

  • "Really loved their brunch. Not many places specialize in "chicken and waffles" on the buffet menu. Everything was very tasty and unlike most places, it never seemed crowded. It's a cool place with chairs that you can sink into and really great, attentive service. The mimosa kept flowing without even the lift fo a hand, and the plates were cleared fast allowing me to hit the buffet as many times as I liked. Great place."

  • "The food was good (although there was way too much salt on my fish), but it was difficult to converse without leaning far into the table and raising my voice. Too much noise for my taste."

  • "The ambiance of this place was great. Looked good and lively. I did think the tables were a little close together, as I felt like the couple next to us could hear everything we were saying. The waiter was attentive and quick. The beer and food selection was very good. I ordered the scallops, which tasted great. The problem was that there were only three small scallops on the plate, and about ten brussel sprouts. For $23.00 I expect a little larger portion. I was not satisfied at all. Overall the place was decent and I'd go again and order something else."

  • "Came here for the lady's 25th birthday. First time visiting. The hostesses up front were busy chatting rather than doing their jobs, which led to an annoying 15 minute wait for our table. Made 8pm reservation, didn't get seated until 815. Like I said, annoying, but the food made up for it. I got the Tap Room burger and a Guinness, and was very pleased. The lady got the scallops and thought they were cooked to perfection. It was a little noisy, but it's a bar, what do you expect? They could rearrange the seating a little better to buffer the noise, but we would go back."

  • "This place is sure to delight. From the amazing food, to the superb service. You will enjoy your experience here. The servers are smart and witty. The atmosphere is laid back but refined. My choice every time! Lunch, dinner, or just a cocktail, it's good every time."

  • "I brought my parents to ATR after seeing a movie and this was the first time any of us had eaten there. The food was great and the service was even better. It was my mother's 80th birthday and she felt very special because of the attention from our waiter. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. As a matter of fact I have already. Great job ATR!"

  • "This is a warm and inviting place that delivers uncomplicated but excellent food at reasonable prices and provides attentive service. An old friend and I got together here for dinner and started with the PEI Mussels and hummus. The mussels were delicious- served in a rich cider broth with sausage and carmelized onions. The hummus was a little on the thin side but the whole chickpeas and pickled red onion were very tasty as was the accompanying pita. We both had sandwiches for entrees: I had the blackened chicken sandwich on a baguette; my friend had the Tap Room Burger which he ordered, and received, rare. The spicy chicken sandwich was beautifully tempered by the marinated pineapple and the burger looked (and, I'm told) tasted amazing."

  • "Went to the Saturday brunch. It was tasty and the service was good. Only annoying thing was that I ordered the blueberry french toast and they substituted apples for the blueberries without telling me. When I asked they said the kitchen wasn't able to get any blueberries. That's fine, but I should've been notified of that when I ordered and given the choice. Still, a tasty meal."

  • "I ate here on Valentine's Day and had a great experience. I ordered the truffle mac & cheese, which turned out to be an elegant spin on a classic comfort food. Overall the menu looked delicious, though I did not try anything else. The manager came by to ask us how we were doing, and the staff was extremely friendly. Service was fast as well. IF you have not eaten here before, you should definitely make it a point to!"

  • "While I service was pretty good, the food was sub-par. This was not my first time dining at American Tap Room, so I was disappointed when I ordered the Crabmeat Omelet and discovered it lacked seasoning and flavor, not to mention the crab meat! The server took it back to the kitchen and the cooked me a new omelet, which took more than 15 minutes to receive. While our server was generally pleasant, she never apologized and a manager never stopped by our table. Unfortunately I doubt I'll return to the American Tap Room anytime soon."

  • "When I went to the All American Tap Room with my husband, I figured that this would not be a "kids' restaurant." I was quite mistaken. It's very kid friendly with children getting crayons and paper to color. I don't know. Do you think that a "tap Room" is a suitable place for young children? Not that there was anything going on that the children couldn't see in their own homes. It was just the expectation that this was not a restaurant for kids. Once I got over that, it was fine, had a great dinner, enjoyed the very noisy ambiance, etc."

  • "I gave this place another try because everywhere else was full and had a wait while this place was only half full. There's a reason for that! The menu is shrinking, it's so loud at your table that the waiter cannot be heard and he cannot hear us when we place our order either. Everything we ordered other than standard entrees never arrived. The place is a hot mess!"

  • "If you want an outstanding great meal, go to American Tap Room! It is right up there with Ruth Chris, CheeseCake Factory, and PF Changs. They have everything from fried chicken and waffles to the finest wines. The dessert menu is out of this world, as you will be pleased with their delectable options."

  • "Although there were empty tables and we asked for one, we were placed in a corner next to a crying child. They were out of a common beer we asked for. Won't go back."

  • "A generous buffet and omelets to order is the mainstay of a good brunch. The bottomless mimosa for $10 is an attractive feature as you linger over the meal."

  • "It doesn't feel like a chai restaurant. The food us always consistent and well priced."

  • "We were disappointed; hand't been there in a while but: They used to serve a really delicious bread basket gratis, now you have to pay for a cold baguette. We ordered 2 common brands of scotch and they were out of both! The 2 waiters seemed to be at loose ends, forgetting what we told them and generally flummoxed. At least the pecan trout and the Greek turkey burger were very good."

  • "ATR is one of our favorite spots for a casual meal or brunch. The food is good, service is friendly and attentive and the atmosphere is laid-back. You can follow sports on one of the many Tv's in the bar area or have a quiet meal in the dining rooms."

  • "The American Tap Room in Bethesda is a good choice for a relaxed dinner. The food is not elaborate, but it is interesting with nice combinations of flavors. The wine list is short, but with some good choices. The beer list is longer and interesting. The room containing the bar is lively and noisier, with a number of TV's. The back room is quieter and more clubby."

  • "Brunch was great and low-key. There was a huge community festival going on but the restaurant was quiet and peaceful. Our waiter was charming and very attentive. Great food (brunch was much tastier than their typical menu)."
